was injured when a motorcycle carrying them hit a roadside electric pole on
the Gabtali-Bagbari road in Perirhat area under Gabtali upazila of the
district on Tuesday evening.
Uddin and his son Munna, 30, residents of Baiguni Pramanikpara village in
Durgahata union of the upazila.
Bagbari police outpost in-charge sub-inspector (SI) Abdul Khaleque said
the accident took place in the area when the motorcycle, carrying the
victims, hit the roadside electric pole in the area around 6pm, leaving
Jahidul dead on the spot and his wife and son injured.
Later, the injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College ....

On February 1, hundreds of people flocked to the Shibbari More in Khulna city to participate in Book Road Khulna, a donation drive initiated by Facebook groups Book Bank and Entertainment All In One. The event provided the bookworms of Khulna with a unique opportunity to share their books with the community.
The Facebook groups helped spread the word about the donation, and student volunteers picked up the books from 10 pick-up points across the city and also through a virtual live donation campaign.
Mohammed Moinul Islam Shantonu, a veteran, donated more than 200 books from his collection containing some of the rarest and oldest books of Bangladesh. ....

GUWAHATI: North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday dared newly floated regional parties in the state, Aasu-backed Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and KMSS-supported Raijor Dal, to unite with Congress-AIUDF and consolidate the Miya (migrant) Muslim votes in the fight against BJP in the upcoming Assam election.
He said the people of Assam will tag the two new parties as B-teams of the BJP , if their staying away from the Congress-AIUDF ultimately helps the saffron coalitions. “We are ready to face the challenge of Congress, AIUDF, AJP, Raijor Dal and all other anti-BJP parties. Guwahati, Jan 30 : All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Gourav Vallabh on Saturday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for been incapable, incompetent and indifferent towards the plight of the Assamese people as he said that the state government used communal divide as a tool to polarise the voters in the state.

New Jan 25 : The Congress has formed a number of committees for the upcoming assembly polls in Assam. The committees formed by the party include the election committee, manifesto committee, management committee, coordination committee, campaign committee and media committee.
Sonia Gandhi has appointed state president Ripun Bora as Chairman of state election committee and the coordination committee along with 23 other members while the campaign committee will be headed by Pradyut Bordoloi which has 49 other members.
Former Assam Minister Rokibul Hussain has been appointed Chairman of the publicity committee while Gaurav Gogoi will be heading the manifesto committee. Former MP Ram Prasad Sarma will head the election management committee and Abdul Khaleque will be in-charge of Media ....
