NORFOLK, Va. - Itâs been a long road to recovery for Hampton native Deion Campbell.
âWhen I caught COVID, I got the absolute worst,â Campbell said. It was life-threatening, to say the least.â
This month marks one year since he was diagnosed with COVID-19. He told News 3 that at one point, he spent 12 days on a ventilator.
âPhysical therapy, for me, it started out for me just sitting up in the bed inside the hospital,â he said.
Since then, he s worked on getting his motor skills back while addressing nerve damage in his right arm. ....

North Carolina lawmakers have introduced legislation that would add protections for college students accused of sexual assault. But victim’s rights advocates are concerned.
Senate Bill 117 was introduced by Republican Representatives Joyce Krawiec, Deanna Ballard, and Vickie Sawyer.
The proposal raises the burden of proof for UNC System schools to find students responsible for sexual assault. It guarantees accused students the right to legal counsel during the investigative and disciplinary process and opens the door to witness cross-examination. ....

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) While the City of Orangeburg considers the possibilities for revitalizing Railroad Corner, some residents are hoping the State Theatre will be preserved or at least remembered.
The former theater “represents our heritage and our legacy,” Orangeburg resident William Green said.
“It was not just a theater. It was more like a community center,” he said.
Railroad Corner is located where Russell, Boulevard and Treadwell streets meet. In December 2019, the city purchased a block of business property there for the purpose of revitalization. ....

N.C. State University is the latest college to plan outdoor in-person graduation ceremonies this spring. It joins Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill in announcing in-person commencement events.
N.C. State will host two outdoor graduation ceremonies in May at Carter-Finley Stadium, open to family and friends.
The News & Observerreports the Raleigh school also told students and faculty they can expect “normal” campus operations in the fall, which will include full dorm occupancy and in-person classes. ....
