There was a protest here on the streets in front of the university because that one alleged victim went on twitter after she said University Official doctors nothing to handle in a timely way her alleged assault, schenn says after this protest she heard from another student who says the same guy had assaulted her six months earlier and the university had done nothing about it. One of the complainants in the lawsuit says that she reported the University Officials she was depressed and suicidal and wasnt given any help. Two students say that they actually withdrew from the university because theyre alleged attackers were allowed to remain here on campus. We can tell you that School Officials are now reviewing their policies again and hoping to change the culture out here in the School District and make some improvements. Take look at these alarming number. A month ago, we told you that the School System at that time was dealing with a toll of 636 misconduct cases. Just in one month, that number has spiked to 788 cases this school year. Thats 152 more cases were talking about so clearly the issue has not gotten better. Hundreds of staff mostly teachers they have been placed on administrative leave at some point this school year for alleged child abuse or neglect and were told most of them will not be returning to work. Now teachers tell us the sta Staggering Number isnt about mass abuse but a system that just isnt working. Aft high profile child abuse cases in this county, Prince Georges County School Officials they felt like, hey, more needed to be done to protect students and so they revamped policies, and teachers say while they agree more needs to be done, those new policies could be doing more harm than good. They say its putting good teachers out of their classrooms, and taking a toll on students in the classroom. Meanwhile, again School Officials tell us they will now be revamping those policies. Police say williams was armed with a gun and tried to rob p pope. After a brief struggle police say williams shot pope and took off in his car. Just four days earlier, Montgomery County Police Believe williams and another man were at the scene of a shooting in germantown. Police believe williams shot and killed 19yearold amara ramir Santos Johnson on april29th. Williams and another man robbed the victim at gun point. Three other people were also shot trying to flee the scene but survived. The next day, Montgomery County Police Arrested williams accomplice 23yearold eric lee. Today the Senate Committee will hold previously scheduled hearing on worldwide threats. Now, comb mow was supposed to be there. Now the acting fbism director Andrew Mccabe will testify instead. As this drama all plays out, most democrats continue to boat the drum for special prosecutor to take over the election, the Russian Election investigations. One of those is maryland senator Chris Van Holland who joins to us share more. Its good to be with you. You did say youre calling for special prosecutor ill just quote here to reinstall confidence in our Justice System and our intelligence sage agencies. Yes, this whole thing stinks to high heaven. You have an Ongoing Investigation by the fbi director into possible collusion between the Trump Campaign and the russians. And just as that investigation is heating up, just as comey reportedly was asking the Justice Department for more resources, he gets fired. So it does look i think most fair minded people as a deliberate evident to intervene. So the only way to restore credibility and confidence in the process is to appoint app independent special prosecutor who cannot be fired by the president of the united states. The challenge here is getting that ball rolling because that has to come through doj, cor correct. Thats correct. So how does whoever wants this yourself being one of these people calling for it how do you get that process going if this has to go through the department of justice . I think its a matter of Building Public and political pressure to restore confidence. So the decision needs to be made at this point by Rod Rosenstein in my own view he should designate the senior career official at the Justice Department to make the appointment of a special prosecutor to make sure we have someone who is totally unbiased, totally independent in this process. So it really does come down to him. At this point in time, because attorney general sessions has recused himself from any Rod Rosenstein has now allowed his letter to be used as the pretext for the firing of comey. So to restore confidence, re really, he should pass the baton to the senior career official who should then appoint a special prosecutor and the public needs to demand this in the interest of justice, and you do have republicans joining democrats, many republicans, joining democrats in this call. What are the chances that that happens . And if it doesnt happen, what other options might be there as far as congress is involvement in this . Well i think thats a possibility. The appointment of special prosecutor if pressure continues to build. Because this is ultimately not necessarily going to be a decision by the president. It could be made by the Deputy Attorney general. And so theres a lot riding on him and you dont feel that the pressure from the administration and the white house would not be too strong for for that not to happen. Theres no doubt in night my nd writing this letter that created the pretext for firing. So the question for him, does he want to restore his own credibility . The credibility of his office and the credibility of the entire Justice Department . We dont get that, i would like to see an independent commission created like 9 11. In the meantime there are Ongoing Investigations in the Senate Intelligence committee and in the house Intelligence Committee the most serious one so far has been in the Senate Intelligence committee as you indicated there was a hearing today comey was supposed to be there. But they are pursuing this. Not as quickly as many of us would like to see, but they are pursuing this. Let me ask you about Rod Rosenstein. This is somebody you have supported in the past. You inn introduced him for his confirmation hearing which was a near unanimous vote in the senate. Right. Very popular. Someone had had a career to this point of being non partisan. What did you think when you saw this letter come out the Administration Says was the center point for this firing . He appeared to allow himself to be used. As you know there have been reports that he threatened just yesterday to resign because the Trump Administration was kind of fingering him for the decision to fire comey. But did he write the letter that he have expected they would use as this pretext. I mean the notion that donald trump is firing the fbi director because of his investigation of Hillary Clinton emails just doesnt meet the laugh test after the election President Trump praised comey for his handling of those emails. So it is really important that he rosenstein now restore confidence and faith in his own judgment making it clear hes not going to allow himself to be used for political purposes and appoint the special prosecutor. Rod rosenstein in maryland. You are representing maryland. Have you talk with him since this happened. No, but i plan to, and i do think this is an important all right. The pressure is on there. Let me talk about the big picture here, because obviously you and your colleagues in the senate before this week it was health care. Having to essentially rewrite change, amend, whatever youll do with Health Care Proposal that went through the house. What do projects like that, where do they stand now with the comey situation coming up and the comey firing . Does eerything get pushed back now, does it all get muddled in the middle. Does live go on. What type of schedule do we have when it comes to running things in the senate based on what we were already working on . Its not clear exactly how this will disrupt proceedings in the senate. Well continue to call for the special prosecutor. The house, of course, passed that Health Care Bill which i think is a catastrophe for health care system. They passed it before they even got the most recent analysis from the nonpartisan congressional budget office. So at the very least, the Republican Leaders in the senate are saying weve got to wait for that. The last report said that the plan would rhee result in 24 million losing access to affordable care, premiums going up and all for attack cut that mostly goes to very wealthy people. 900 billion. uso short answer to your questin is, its not clear how this will affect the timetable in the senate for considering the health bill. A second crash right now 66 eastbound between nutley street and beltway blocking the right lane so this is the second crash of the morning in that area. Inside the beltway you ■slow through falls church in arlington and Upper Marlboro this morning a crash at 301 northbound its thee zero one northbound at pennsylvania avenue. So more delays there. A lot of fender benders this morning because of the slick conditions. Where do you want to start . We kind of want it to be little perfect. Yeah, we do. And my journey i posted oh and my blog and ive been doing it for couple years, is i never wore bikini until i was 32 years old i hated my body and the way i look. What was the switch then. When i was this honestly fox5. Because you know ive been contributor here for like seven years when i first started i was probably about 25 pounds, they are pounds heavier than i am now on the air. I would get tweets from people who would say, oh, my god youd be so pretty if you lost 20 pounds. Thats so hurtful. That messed with me so much. But it also was a gift. Because my entire life since i was 12 years old ive been on diet. Ive done everything. Wait watchers, go lean, nothing work. I gained and lost 150 pounds and had it i hated my body so much even though it was healthy and supporting me and have i bran, and i found eating and living therapist in takoma park. You talked about this before. Oh, my god i love her. Is it just as it sounds just chachanging what to get there . Were with mindful eating truly if we are in tune with our bodies our beds will tell us what we want to eat. Well find our natural weight. Sometimes mine says twinkies. You can have twinkie. We really only need one or two bites. But we override those messages all the time were busy. Were stressed. We have tough relationships. Were eating in the car. So a couple years ago i wore my bikini live here and i got it on again today. Im going to rock it. Reveal later. Well reveal later. At the end. Because my whole message i spent years trying to get on the bikini diet. You call those ridiculous. Bikini diet is the most insane think ive ever heard of we deprive ourselves go to exercise classes to try and look good in two tin knee pieces of cloth and then even when we even when were working out and doing great job with our bodies we till d enough. So mine thing system of the put the bikini on. Just go, because its really so much a mindset and once you just begin to own your body, and realize hay look i dont care. I have cellulite i have all those things. Im healthy. Im grateful to be here. And thats the important part. You know whats funny you talk about everybody can relate. I dont want dont get me in the picture or let me hide behind something for the picture when you look back you realize how much you missed out on. What i also realize is, when i look back at pictures from like ten years ago, i remember thinking, i cannot get into this with key keen knee i dont like how this looks. I looked great. Right. Right. So like how can we in your opinion get that i look great mentality for the day and the moment that were in because chances are i mean, you do, youre you. Rock who you are. How do you get that mindset . I think you have to catch that voice in your head. You have to just start being aware of that voice it goes oh god, im not pretty enough. Im not thin enough. You know what, im good the way i am. If i never lose a pound if i dont look any different im good. I think you just challenge yourself put the bikini on and go good were seeing pictures as you i was hoping it would stay there. Were seeing pictures of when you were was that at your heaviest do you think there. That was bikini bottoms didnt come off. I was concerned. Oh, god if those come off fox will have another kind of show. A hit op their hands. That was probably my heaviest when i was in college. Okay. So i was probably close to 190 i probably i dont even own a scale any more. But id say maybe now i weigh 135. Evrything tuck in. You are rocking it today. Put it on. Put it on. Put it on. And then as you can see drive times all in red. 95 northbound dale city to the beltway that is the best area that we have right over 30 minutes from the beltway to the 11th Street Bridge on 295 northbound. 270 southbound an hour and seven minutes to get from urbana to the beltway and 66 eastbound from Prince William parkway to the beltway 66 minutes there. And then with regards to the beards, that was a decision that i made because there were number of officers that were requesting to have the the beards i think theyre pleased with that decision. It is also been at some president ial libraries and for the last few years here at the pentagon memoria flow again later this morning under gray clouds in the rain but as honor to Fallen Heroes you say, chris, and again tell me this is police week and thats why youre here this week. Why here at the pentagon . Well, the pentagon obviously is this azar cred ground were on. Weve been doing this for over seven years at the pentagon. We rep firefighters, Police Officers and folks in the military kill in the line of duty. Its not just Law Enforcement this flag flys for but heroes. Heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice. Actually joined the military after 9 11 and not proud to say but i paid more in taxes than what i earned for those first two years but it was honor to be able to serve and to honor these men and women in that capacity.
