What president putin doing here is effectively waiting for donald trump to take office on january 20th. Here comes president putin effectively domestically the way russians perceive him, he looks like hes taking the high road by declining to retaliate, by inviting the diplomats children to orthodox christmas celebrations and new years celebrations at the kremlin. What hes doing is scoring domestic points in russia, and abroad, hes throwing the ball back into Donald Trumps court. It is a developing story. Were working on right now. Back in july, Police Responded to a home on new york avenue in northeast and found 1monthold Christopher Conley unconscious. He died at the hospital a few days later from blunt trauma to his head and neck. Police just ruled his death a homicide. The autopsy came back, of course, the autopsy was performed by the medical examiners office. The result was that they ruled it a homicide. Which led to us arresting a mom for it. Deanna conley was arrested in philadelphia on tuesday and brought back to d. C. To face first degree murder charges. Ce county are looking for suspects after a man was found shot in his own home. Neighbors called Police Last Night after they heard gunshots coming from the home in capitol heights. Moments ago, police emailed us the name of the victim. 44yearold khalil wiggins. No word yet on what may have led up to that shooting. It will likely be president obamas last trip to chill, and hell be there to defend the Affordable Care act. Nbc news has learned that the president will meet with house and Senate Democrats next week. One place thats not going to be partying into the wee hours, Trump International hotel. The d. C. Law allows for extended hours to serve booze until 4 00 a. M. During holidays and the week of inauguration. Nearly 200 bars and restaurants and hotels have been granted those extended hours for that Holiday Weekend. And dozens have applied for the same for inauguration. Last call at Trump International so when you think of new years eve, theres a good chance that that may include a Champagne Toast at midnight. In Montgomery County, you may have a hard time finding certain types of bubbly for the night. Bethesda magazine says some shop owners are having a hard time grabbing certain brands. Other sites of containers will have more bans and how this affects restaurants and one man is selling his used styrofoam. Not only can those businesses and organizations no longer use styrofoam. They must use recyclable products. For restaurant owners, that means a bit more work. But new numbers are out showing how dangerous it is to drink and get behind the wheel of a car. Can you really trust yourself . Nbc National Investigative correspondent jeff rossen and his team set up a bit of a social experiment that may change the way you behave. We invited this group of friends to a restaurant and told them were doing a story about holiday drinking. What they dont know blow harder than that. After the party, this local Police Officer working with us is giving them breathalyzers. Three, four and field sobriety tests. Seven, eight, nine. Show of hands, how many of you feel in control of yourself . Coordina this man told us he would even be okay to drive right now. You would get behind the wheel . Why not . Authorities say too often, people lose track of how much theyre really drinking and dont know their own limit. According to new government data, during the new years holiday, 36 of all traffic deaths involve drunk driving. Which makes our social experiment so important. Four martinis in an hour. We supplied the alcohol, telling half of them to drink as they normally would, and the other half not to drink at all. Theyre our designated drivers. We also hired car services as a backup to make sure everyone got home safely. But would they drive if they could . I would wait longer. How long would you wait before you drove . Me . At least an hour, hour and a half. Keep going. So we waited that long, then gave kim a breathalyzer test. The legal limit is. 08. 10. Only two drinks to get you over the legal limit . I am. I probably would have gotten into a car to drive home had i been at a local bar. But now seeing youre. 13, nearly twice the legal limit, whats that like to hear . Disheartening. That you would have gotten on the road. Very scary. What do you make of that now . Im an idiot. You dont realize how much you have drank until after the sobriety test comes. By then its too late. Then its absolutely too late. God forbid i hurt somebody or, you know, kill somebody. And the group of people involved in this experiment knew they were not driving home and that it was all for an experiment, of course, Authorities Say the message here is clear. Even when you haveus drink, you can be physically impaired. As we have seen, so is your judgment. If youre driving, police say do not drink at all. Not to mention, you can easily get caught. And as we approach new years weekend, remember, police are really stepping up dui patrols and setting up checkpoints everywhere. Just not worth it. Next, how an uber driver helped lead police to arrest two sex traffickers and rescue a police in northern driver tipped off police to a sex trafficking incident involving a 16yearold girl. We have the story. Barely a month into the job, uber driver keith received a ride request monday night from oak park to elk road. A ride that would earn him less than 8. Almost immediately, keith noticed what the girl sitting next to him was wearing. She had a really short skirt so you could see all of her legs. It struck me as odd because she was so young. As the girls appearance caught his eye, a conversation between the 16yearold girl and one of the two women in the back seat caught his ear. Keith says it sounded more like coaching. The first thing you want to do is ask, do you have any weapons . When youre hugging him, just ask, do you have weapons . Pat him down, pat him down while youre hugging him. Then a second instruction. Beth is the ceo of we, a nonprofit crisis Intervention Agency in Sacramento County that works with victims of domestic and victim abuse as well as sex trafficking. A trafficker is looking for somebody he can groom to work for them, theyre looking for vulnerability, for kids nobody is looking for, so kids in the foster system, runaways. Just recently, Sacramento County started collecting data on sex trafficking victims. Now, we can identify more than 100 kids in the past 12 months who have been trafficking, and the hope is that the be able to identify them, too. Looking for young girls or boys who arent aware of it, seems like they should be. Theyre not on their way to school, you dont think there are books in the backpack. Theyre lurking around.
