David murphy is tracking the deep freeze in the accuweather forecast. You definitely need the extra gear if you are outside for an extended period of time. Up north an area to watch. If you get caught in a snow squall it could put down a quick half inch of snow than could get roads going south in a hurry. If you see that be careful. A Philadelphia High School student has been taken into custody after police found a handgun in his backpack. Officials discovered the weapon this morning when the teenager arrived at the Randolph Career Academy in hunting park. He went through the scanning process and the school discovered the weapon. They secured the weapon and secured the student and the Philadelphia Police were called and the school was placed in lockdown. Police seized the gun and searched the building for other weapons. But that was lifted after the search came up empty. Delaware Health Officials are announcing the first flu death of the season. They are planning to release more information about the victim today. Winds gusting over 40 at times and these are the projected windchills the rest of the way and up north worse than this. May feel like 9 and youll see how things arent changing through the rest of the afternoon and evening and overnight hours. Overnight tonight it gets colder, 15 degrees in philadelphia and down to 10 in suburbs, with winds still blustery, the winds die down a bit tomorrow. As we go into tomorrow afternoon and evening its going to be cold as you start out and we are on the lookout for a warm front pushing closer to us into night and this produces snow initially in that colder air. And we expect an eventually change over to rain. The model has most snow hanging to the north of philadelphia. I think in the overnight hours on saturday, we may get some sweeping down briefly in parts of south jersey and philadelphia. And by saturday morning at 7 00 warm air pushing up and changing us to rain in the city and a change over to rain up into allentown in the morning, the problem with this is that as we see that rain coming in and changing over the snow, it may still be cold enough on the ground to support icing on its roads. If you are out driving around on saturday morning and see that change over to rain, still take it slow and cautious as there could be icing. 23 degrees is todays high bitter wind making it feel like 9 and snow at night into saturday morning and gradually snow and sleet and freezing rain and finally rain in the afternoon.
