That will be in place tonight and tomorrow as well. Lets give you a peek at the temperatures. Were getting down in the 30s. It wont take long to get to the mid 30s and low 40s. Factor in the wind it will feel cooler. 30s. Plenty of sunshine but breezy. Thats gonna be the theme as we go through the day. I say breezy, i should be using the term windy especially the middle part of the day. Well see gusts even as high as 30 especially at lakes. It will grab your attention. When your temperatures are in the 40s, you throw a 30mileanhour wind on top of it, its cold. Thats where were going tomorrow and this wind is gonna be in play not only tomorrow but as we go through the week. So winter has not left us by any means. I will explain more about that up in a little bit. Hundreds at South Carolina State University honor and remember lives lost on this day in 1968 during the orangeburg massacre. February 8th, 1968, i can remember vividly everything that transpired on that particular night. Reporter a sentiment that rings true for so many of the 200 activists on South Carolinas state campus that evening, protesting a bowling students were upset, city officials were upset and it was just kind of a situation where we realized that something negative was going to occur. Reporter nine state troopers opened fire in the crowd, fatally wounding three protesters and injuring 27 others. Not only was i in pain from the gunshot, but it was pain from the injustice that was perpetuated mon unarmed un upon unarmed students. Many were shot in the back. Reporter while joining together in song and prayer, civil rights eighth visits activists called for a more thorough incident. Those are the type of things that are still kind of a festering wound on our state. Reporter reverend joe darby will reignite passion in the fight for civil routes. He spent almost two decades climbth ranks with the West Columbia police department. A top priority for the new chief is building a strong relationship between the department and the residents of chapin. I think visibility is the key. The virus has spread to at least 29 countries. The Obama Administration says 50 americans have returned to the u. S. Infected with zika. The Health Officials are urging all pregnant women returning from the affected countries to get tested. After years on the decline, new South Carolina moms experienced an increase in preventable birth defects last year. And then its gonna set us up for a cold week. Its been a while since weve as i mentioned in the 6 00 news, weve had six days where the temperatures have not gotten out of the 40s. This week, for the next seven, well have trouble getting out of the 40s on every one of those days. Its a cold patch, colder than weve seen this winter. This arctic blast, this air originates in the middle part of canada. We get this thing a couple of times of year. Whats going to happen, this whole jet stream is gonna come down and there will be a couple of waves, reinforcements of this. And that will last for the next seven days. Get ready for kind of a chilly week as we go forward. Here we go, tomorrow morning, look at the purples. Thats the real cold. Thats subzero. We wont be in there. Were in the blue. Healthily in the blue. Plenty of blue. As we go through tomorrow, we never warm up and then we go through wednesday again we dont warm up. Even thursday, nothing. Were still on the fringe of the blue. Feel like winter all week long for us. Lets give you a look at the temperatures. Clear and breezy. We get down to around 33 or so that. Will happen around sunrise which is right after 7 00 tomorrow morning. Then we get going on the commute. There you go. It will be clear. No problems. No rain, no anything like that. But breezy, dont forget your sunglasses as you take care of business and get to work. Now, lets get you through tomorrow afternoon. Wind gusts, 25 at least. Maybe as high as 30, especially on the lakes. It will be a cold one. When you factor in the wind with temperatures in the 40s, it will feel more like the 30s. Get your warm jacket out and have it with you all day. At times, the wind will be biting and carry us through. In fact, it will be windy again on wednesday. Notice the temperatures here. Were struggling to get anywhere near 50 degrees right on through the sevenday forecast. Now, the coldest nights at least the way it looks right now, of course, this could change depending upon wind and such. Coldest nights look like morningge and morning morning morning and then saturday night into sunday. The cold 1309s will be in the teens. When you you Start Talking about teens for several hours, you have to start worry about the pipes. These two nights this week, well have to focus on those potentially.
