He was 15 minding his own business. Harry boomer has been following this story this past weekend and joins us with who the suspect is and the charges. Reporter mark and romona, the victim heights and the man suspected of shooting him from Cleveland Heights. One was working hard making an honest living and the other was busy robbing and killing. He committed one the next night and committing one the third night. At this point we dont know if he would have stopped. Cleveland Heights Police chief says he is 20yearold Daveion Perry and shot and sunny was working at his familys business mr. Hero and perry shot him in the neck and fled the restaurant. This picture was made public and a report of another robbery was called in from University Heights. Our Police Department learned the description was identical to the suspect in the mr. Hero shooting. Reporter Police Officers from Cleveland Heights, University Heights and south euclid patrolled the streets looking for the killer. Struck pay dirt spotting Daveion Perry entering a dollar store. The man wearing the identical clothing in the previous two robberies. As he was entering the store he was putting on a mask and white gloves. The suspect entered the front door with a gun in his hands. Despite multiple verbal commands to stop, the male continued to flee from officers and ran east overlook. Within minutes officers were able to surround the area and located the male hiding in the garage. Reporter Daveion Perry is charged with aggravated murder, two counts aggravated robbery, two counts kidnapping and two counts of felonious assault. He is held on 1 million bond. Lets take a listen to that. We will go through preliminary information. It is under investigation obviously and we have called in outside identity to investigate the criminal aspect of the investigation. We will have our own separate administrative investigation also. Approximately 12 56 today we Lowes Department store that had several felony warrants out on him. Our officers responded to the area and arrived there approximately 1300. During that investigation, one of the officers positioned himself in front of the parked car of a parking lot at lowes. At the time the parking lot was extremely congested and a lot of pedestrian and secular traffic in the area. It was lunch time and nearby was a other establishments with a large amount of traffic, secular and pedestrian. The first officer positioned his car in front of the individuals car that was subject of the investigation at that point. He approached the driver and asked for identification. The driver apparently supplied him improper information as he was not able to confirm anything assist and position his vehicle behind the suspects vehicle. When officers asked the individual to exit the vehicle, the driver threw the vehicle in reverse and ran into and pushed the motorcycle out into the parking lot and also struck our officer in the process. Officers were trying to get the vehicle to stop concerned for everyones safety in the area. Ultimateon fired shots at the individual. The vehicle was able to speed away through the parking lot and crashed into a lot across the street at beaufort avenue. Again, we immediately secured the scene, called in ohio bc i to collect evidence and secure the area. Thats all i have for now. Again, it is too preliminary. We are still gathering information, talking to investigation. I will take questions but it will be very limited what i can answer. What are the conditions of the officer and subject. The subject who we will not identify is apparently deceased at this point and working on confirming identification and notifying any next of kin. And your officer . Our officer received minor injuries. He was still at the hospital when i talked to him. I do believe there was s injury but i do not know yet what it was. Just to clarify. Im sorry i was writing. Did the suspect fire any shots. Theres no indication of any shots fired by the subject. It was a motorcycle officer and officer . And marked patrol car, correct. Who was first to arrive, the motorcycle . The car. The car. And then the motorcycle officer got behind them. Correct. Motorcycle. Correct. The motorcycle positioned as a backup unit behind the vehicle. Who fired the shots . The other officer . One of the two officers. Again it is under investigation and we will not release detailed information at this point. Were shots fired as the car was driving away already . Somewhere right between or again it is something that has to be sort out in detail. So this suspect was in lowes and came out, got in thats when the officers encountered them. We do not know if he was in lowes or not. He was in the car when approached by officers . Was anyone else in the vehicle . No, there wasnt. Not a that time. In a certain matter. The scene, first of all, injuries of both the suspect and officer, are of paramount concern. We look at those first and from there it is all investigative. A freshman at Cleveland Heights high schools she was sexually assaulted. The attack happened while school was in session. Cleveland 19 Denise Zarrella in studio now with more on this. Denise . Reporter mark, university Heights Police are in the thick of their investigation and interviewing three young men who go to Cleveland Heights high school. The suspects face several charges now that include rape. The call for help came from the head of security at Cleveland Heights high school. A 14yearold freshman reported she was sexually assaulted inside a storage closet near the boys locker room. Three fellow students face rape, kidnapping and gross sexual imposition charges in their part in the attack. University Heights Police would off camera moments before the Sexual Assault were caught on camera. Investigators added what happened appears to have been planned. School officials would not talk on camera and released a statement saying we are aware of the incident and currently conducting an investigation in conjunction with the university Heights Police department. Students in question are suspended indefinitely until investigation into their actions are complete. The School District take this is matter very seriously and we are cooperating witpo ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly.
