Couple things going on in town. A horrible attack in chelsea. A woman, 24 years old, walking i believe to her job at whole foods, slashed on the street. There she is on the left. Watch what happens. Boom. Just random. By the way she said she saw this man ahead of her. She had a gut feeling that something was up with him, probably should have crossed the street. She had seen him prior to this footage like walking around. Looked like he was woozy like drunk or on drugs. Then this happened. Her name is amanda. Slashed in the face. Actually she posted her injuries on facebook. You can kind of see right here. I think she got seven stitches. She is okay. Obviously she is shaken up. Now that guy has a criminal record going back about 15 years. He has been arrested more than 30 times. They got him. Police believe they have the man responsible in custody. 41yearold individual from the bronx. All right. Also on our agenda here, rosanna, hit tv show from netflix, watch the whole thing in one fell swoop if you want. If you have a lot of time. With all the cold weather this is perfect opportunity. It is called making a murderer, it is a documentary on netflix. It is about this guy steven avery, who, what a tragic life. In 1985 he was in his early 20s, maybe, he was arrested and convicted for a crime, it was later proven he did not commit. He spent 18 years in jail for sexual assault. Dna evidence ultimately proved 1000 he didnt do it. So he is released in 2003. Guess what he probably has a lot of money coming to him. He sued. They said he would get like 35 million. Apparently the police were really upset about this because it made them look bad. Two years later he is arrested for murder. A woman went to his junkyard, his family runs a junkyard and she disappeared, later found, just her remains, bones burned. He along with his nephew. Nephew brendan were both convicted. Now netflix goes through this in great detail but i think it is safe to say largely from the perspective of the defense. Those who have seen it, ive seen the whole thing now. I wonder how much of the story are we really getting. Prosecutor has gone on tv. Said base they left out few key sweat dna of mr. Avery found underneath hood of her car. There was talk about blood dna being found. That police spread his blood somewhere else to make him look like he did the crime. But the sweat, prosecutor said, was hard to like fudge. Im left with some serious questions. At times, by the way, 10 hours, guess what, no surprise, it got boring. Did you fall asleep and woke up . I literally fell asleep. Woke up. No, it is still boring. This is interesting. Wait i grab my phone a little bit. That kind of thing. Rosanna when i go to a Cocktail Party i can talk about. You will be center of attention. Luckily, its elementary when it comes to looking at the numbers on wall street. Were just about 32 seconds from the opening bell down on wall street. This is the big board. Well show you these numbers when they begin moving. The issue is china. We have some video of trading in china earlier today. Of course, china is well ahead our time. They had to shut down trading in china, the main stock index over 7 , they were down, in a day. That triggered what is called in laymans terms Circuit Breakers which shuts down trading on the main floor of the stock market there in china. And you can see down, yeah, over 7 . Its not been a great day in europe either, down 2. 5 in france, 3 in germany and 2 in britain. Heres the opening bell down on wall street, the new york stock exchange. Just there at wall street and exchange, were going to start seeing the numbers process many a second. Futures were down at one point by several hundred points. Thats kind of an indication where traders think things are going to go, and you can see right out of the gate down 113 points, thats about twothirds of a percent to 16,778. It wasnt that long ago, guys, we were up in the 18,000 territory. Weve lost quite a bit of that, now down 135. One of the issues, besides china, chinas having some issues, and china is the worlds other issue is the price of oil, its down around 33, 34 a concerned. Its great for drivers because gas prices are so cheap, but its not so great for the big oil companies, and they employ a lot of people across the country, so that has investors concerned. There we are, down 228, and we are just over a minute into the trading day. What may happen here is this could moderate. This might not be the direction the market goes for the entire day, down 225, but were going to keep our eye on it, guys, and see what happens. Not good numbers occupant of the gate on out of the gate on wall street. I dont want to look ill look at 4 00 when the bells close. I remember that time you panicked in 2008. You closed down that great big mutual fund. Well, i didnt close down anything no, you took some stuff out. I did. I did. That would have increased in value. Again, im not the economist, but just ignore the storm for now. I know. Okay. In the meantime, we have with us one of our friends, our fox 5 since 2002. Saturday at 10 30 right here on fox 5. For the first time ever, we are talking about the nword. Oh. Now, there is the nword. Theres only one. Theres only one, but theres really two versions of it, the er which is a racial slur and the one that ends in a that is used as everything. Like as a term of hey, my, i hear it all the time on the street. Absolutely. But there are still many in various communities that feel uncomfortable with it, and many africanamericans are resentful of people who are not black using that word, and yet the youth growing up in more diverse communities, they listen to hiphop, its in movies, entertainment, and thats why we did a setup package to explain the whole thing. Lets check it out, lisa. The nword was in the title of jayz and kanye wests hit song about their experiences in but it caused a backlash for jayzs friend Gwyneth Paltrow when she included the song title in a tweet and highlighted about who can use it. Sometimes in entertainment when we start to embrace a different version of the world, i think its lored the standard and allowed lowered the standard and said people to say, well, if you guys dont have a problem with it, its not that big a deal. The use of the racial slur nword ending in er and the period western movie django unchained came under heavy fire. Quentin tarantino reportedly used it more than 100 times in the script. Fifty years ago, it was one of the most terrifying things a black person could hear. Fast forward, a white criminal defendant upset about his bail used it against a judge. He was punished with a 60day sentence. You dont use that word. Apologized. The explicit version of the chartbusting hot boy uses the nword in the title, and its just one of more than 417,000 hiphop songs that do according to genius. Com. Dr. Watkins is challenging artists to be more creative. I dont think that you can really go around and say black lives matter as seriously as we have and still have music sort of using the nword in every other sentence. Hes got a point there. But then i think, like, sometimes i hear it on the street you do everywhere. And im, like, okay, maybe its generational. My generation, those were fighting words, and it was disrespectful to say. But the young people say it so much, maybe they want to desensitize it so that it really has no meaning except as a term of endearment like, hey, fam, hey, brother, hey, sister. Thats how theyre using it. And a lot of it is community, because you have a lot of people who are still remembering the civil rights struggle and the achievements, and then they hear this word, and theyre like why of all the words do you have to use it . What people will say in the Hiphop Community and the teens, theyre like, hey, weve taken the world, weve made it something positive, and thats why were using it, so its not the same thing. So that ice the real debate. Thats the real debate. One of the people whos going to be on the show is the rapper papoose. He said the word ending in a is different, here he is right now. We kind of flipped it and use it as a term of endearment. And to say you cant call us that because this is what were calling ourselves, weve changed it. It doesnt affect us anymore, you understand what im saying . Yeah. Thats how i look at it. That word is used in a lot of songs. Many songs yeah, we did. Theres a site called genius. Com that tracks lyrics and words. More than 417,000 songs have that in the title. In the title. Not just even in the lyrics. I like how youre going there. Im white, youre white youre his pan pick, right . A little spanish. You know, i used the nword once as a kid. What happened . I was 6 years old. And a big kid, might have been 14, said go up to that guy and say this. I knew it was bad did you get a whupping . No, but i was so ashamed. I just was trying to impress this 14yearold. Go through them quick. Set goals, learn to make decisions, learn to manage money, learn to deal with people and practice business ethics. Okay. I like that. Gabby, how much money do you make . A lot. You do . Okay. You sell one box for 4. How much do you get . I get 4 well, it depends be i choose to get if i choose to get prizes or i take all of my money take the cash. And then you can get a badge too, right . She earns badges. She can earn rewards, and 55 cents, basically, goes to her troop. And if her troop doesnt take the prizes, then they get 60 cents per box. Whats the best way that you like to sell . Do you have a favorite way of selling . I like booth sales. You get to meet people. We have some other friends here. Hello. Im sorry, your name again . Well, its a competitive market, especially in new york, and were all very passionate about our careers. With seven big personalities, theres bound to be a little wit of tension bit of tension. Do you fight for clientsesome. That can happen. As lindsay said, its very, very competitive. So some people might solicit clients from other trainers. While theyre training oh behind their backs. Its normal. Look, new york is very expensive, things cost a lot of money. I understand but, guess what . It works in the short term, not in the long term. So, holly, you are at flywheel, thats the exercise bike, right . An indoor cycling. Clients . Thats the [laughter] thats the in thing now. Clients, but you will see me show. Really . Sometimes people date their trainers because, well, theyre hot, theyre in good shape well, i think its interesting because they see us in a different light. They see us up there, they see us as a mentor, as inspiring, and thats not actually who we are all the time. So its a hard connection, i think, to make within that spin studio or within that arena because were just normal people too. I see you guys as a bit of a distraction. [laughter] i do. Sometimes i see, you guys, you chat a lot with your instructor because you guys are cool and interesting and knowledgeable, and then you start to talk about all kinds of things. I see a lot of talking, sometimes not a lot of sweating. Lindsay, you know what i mean, right . I do. Yes, i definitely know what you mean. Thats when youve got the stopwatch, 30 seconds, get to work. Courtney doesnt fool around, i can tell by his muscles. Mike woods, watch out. Lets see a little bit of the show. No, no, no.
