And everywhere he recently traveled. Paula . All right, thank you so much for that reporting this morning. That is the big question, why he chose ft. Lauderdale. Theyll be exploring. A lot of questions. A lot of levels. Including the gray zone that brad garrett talked about. To politics now. 12 days until the inauguration of donald j. Trump. Meanwhile, as barack obama gets ready to leave the oval office, he sat down with george stephanopoulos. George will be dedicated an entire episode of this week later to the interview. George is here. Good morning. We spent friday afternoon in the oval office for an hour as the president looked back on his legacy. These are busy times right now. We sat down just moments after the Intelligence Community releas t concluding that Vladimir Putin ordered the interference in our elections. One of the things we talked about was how, earlier in the day, president elect trump had called all of the focus on russian hacking a political witch hunt. We have seen a lot of commentary lately. Where there are republicans or pundits, cable commentators, who seem to have more confidence in Vladimir Putin than fellow americans because the fellow americans are democrats. That cannot be. Does that include the president elect . Uh, well, what i will say is that and i said this right after the election. We have to remind ourselves were on the same team. Vladimir putin is not on our team. The president being careful. Not to call out president elect trump. He did sound a warning about russias activities across the board. Ramping up their competition with the united especially in this area of cyberwarfare. You explored personal terrain. He talked about raising his daughters in the white house. We know that malia is going off to college, harvard. Theyre staying in washington, d. C. , for at least another year because sasha is finishing high school. I wanted to ask him. Its so hard to raise kids anywhere. I wondered if being in the white house had been good for those girls. Heres what he said. I can say is they have turned out to be terrific young women. We were concerned mostly about whether they would develop an attitu attitude. Why not . Yeah. And they are you know, sweet, kind, funny, smart, respectful people. They treat everybody with respect. Its not just the biases of the parent. We feel pretty good when we hear about it from friends. They still have sleepovers at shes just so sweet or sasha helped to pick up the dishes, what is it that youre doing . He said the secret Service Helps enforce his discipline. And the girls didnt always appreciate that. That corridor there is the commute right now. Thats the corridor between the residence and the oval office. Just looking at that atmosphere. In which hes standing. I cant imagine how you would raise children there without instilling in them an attitude. Listening to his walking that fine line between criticizing the president elect and not criticizing him, do you think hell be a vocal post president . Or will he recede . I dont think hell recede. I thing thats pretty clear. We talked a lot about donald trump. He revealed a little bit more about the phone conversations they have been having over the course of the transition. Both what has impressed him with donald trump and what hes worried about. He said Donald Trumps victory has changed what hell do in the days coming out of the white ho democratic party. I think how vocal hell be will depend on exactly what donald trump does. But i dont think hes going to recede at all. I would like to listen to the phone calls between him and donald trump. All of us would. George has a big, big show this morning. You can see his full interview with president obama today coming up later on this week. The chopper was able to lead officers on the ground to the missing woman. And were told she is now fine. Good news. And finally, you think that a winter blast would be good news for a Recreational Park that offers snowmanbuilding, snowshooting, and tubing. But actually, no. Atlantas Snow Mountain posting on their Facebook Page that Snow Mountain will be closed tomorrow, january 7th, yesterday, due to snow. What . Were aware of the irony. The park is set to reopen today. So a snow park closed due to snow. What a bummer. Even if youre a snow park, theres such a thing as too much snow . Theyre used to no snow there i think is the problem. Its atlanta. Yeah, its atlanta. Appreciate it. Out to rob in San Francisco, speaking of the weather. Whats cooking . Well, good news for atlanta is that its cold enough for the snow that they have in the snow park to still be there when they reopen, i think, today or tomorrow. I want to show you what is going on. The east coast waking up to a winter wonderland. Especially along the immediate border there. That will stick around. Cold air behind this is serious stuff. The wind chills are biting to say the least. They drive all the way down into the deep, deep south into florida. We have hard freeze warnings across the gulf coast today. This is going to continue. Especially across the northeast tomorrow. So blinding snow out there. You have fresh stuff. And very, very slick road ways. No doubt. Quietly, the lakeeffect snow piles continue to total up there across western new york and pennsylvania and ohio and michigan. We have lakeeffect storm warnings right now south of buffalo. That will continue today. You want good stuff, quiet stuff, go to the midsection of warming up in dallas. Thats a quick check of the weather headlines. Well, we are shivering this morning, that is for sure. Current temperatures in the teens, and as you factor in the winds, even warmer than that. Leesburg, fredericksburg, currently one degree in dc if you factor in the winds, still gusting in the 20s get yourself a little ricearoni, the San Francisco treat. You know what were going to be missing soon is college football. Tomorrow nights the big game. The National Championship game. Alabama taking on clemson in a rematch of last years title game. Were calling on jesse palmer for more on how these two teams stack up. Good morning from sunny tampa. Looks much warmer than here in new york. Okay, jesse. What do you think the key for both teams will be in this game . First off, its 35 degrees right now here in Raymond James stadium. Not much warmer than new york city. I think defense is a huge key in this game tomorrow for both of these teams. I think for alabama, they have to do great job of getting pressure on deshaun watson. Clemsons quarterback. I think in the secondary, alabama has to be great in man against a good wide receiving group from clemson, led by mike williams. For clemson, their defensive line has to dominate. They have to slow down alabamas rushing attack. And force true freshman quarterback jalen hurts to beat them. I think this is going be a much lower scoring game. Than the one we saw last year. Speaking of last year, bama won 4540. It was a pretty wild one. What are the differences between last year and this . For creme clemson, i think just confidence. Last year was unchartered waters for them. That was the first time in National Championship game under head coach dabo swinney. That was a game that nobody gave them a chance to win. You mentioned it. They played extremely well. They only lost the game by five points. They have key players that played in that game last year back this year. For alabama, a lot of question marks. A lot of it surrounds their only a freshman, right out of high school. How does he handle the pressure . A little over a week ago, they changed the offensive coordinator. The play caller. So Steve Sarkisian in, lane kiffin out. How does that change the offense . Theres some intriguing storylines. Dan is going send you hand warmers for the chilly weather there in tampa. Im canadian. Im getting a tan out here. Im laughing. All right, jesse. We know you have a busy week on espn. A reminder. The National Championship game tomorrow night, 8 00 eastern on espn, at Raymond James stadium. There in tampa. The game is also streaming live on the espn app or watchespn. Israeli police say that a truck rammed into a crowd of soldiers. Were getting word there are reports of fatalities. Molly hunter is at the scene and joins us on the phone. Good morning. Reporter good morning, paula. Thats right. Were at the scene of the truck ramming earlier today that police with now calling a terrorist attack. The scene at this point is on complete lockdown. We can still see the truck. Its on the scene. Its a mercedes truck. With bullet holes in the windshield. Four people were killed. Three people were trapped underneath the truck hen it hopped the curb and ran into a crowd of soldiers. One person was hit head on. At least 15 people have been were loaded into ambulances. 50 people were treated for shock on the scene. We know the crowd of soldiers was huge. We think about 100 people at least had just gotten off the bus when the truck driver happened to be driving by, saw the crowd of soldiers and plowed into them. He describes the actual moment of the attack as mayhem. It was hard to triage and figure out who was injured and who wasnt because it was such chaos. Thank you, molly. Everything from regular ambulances, to police ambulances, big cars carrying horses for mounted police. I was there for about 45 minutes. You said you couldnt move. You were stuck on the corner. Youre also part of a whats up group with the local police there and you said you received a notification and that police presence, it was very clear to you early on that this was a terrorist attack. Why . Well, it had all of the signs of a terror attack. It was not, for example, a truck that had attempted to, you know, brake and skidded or something. Its a bright, warm, sunny day. Theres no ice on the ground. What we found out very quickly within minutes while standing people walking by and then from the Police Blotter is that the truck it seemed to be opportunistic. From those who saw it first on. The truck saw the soldiers getting off the bus. Switched directions. Like, swerved. Ran directly into them, backed up, and then came back on to them. Thats one of the reasons there are so many pounded. It seems pretty clear. The police from the beginning assigned it as an apparent attack and then a terror attack. Were glad youre okay.
