Looking at nothing but sunshine. Its a gorgeous day. The cape dealing with a kouchl wind gust between 20 and 30 miles per hour. Throughout the cape. And weve seen that through the morning hours. Well continue to see that. The rest of us are fairing nicely. It wont be too breezy for us. Again, plenty of sunshine and were warming up nicely as well. Mid 40s in orange. En though they start in the 20s. 49 in boston. 49 in norwood. Take a look at temperatures as we inthoed rest of the day. Mild weather into the saturday forecast. Sunday the weather pattern takes a nosedive for some chilly weather. Police in norton are locked in on an intense stand off with a man who has barricaded himself inside of a home there. At one point police say that man opened fire. And one of those bullets apparently striking a Police Vehicle as well. Lets go to Nicole Oliverio with the latest on what happened. Door thing stand off the injured and it ended with a peaceful arrest according to police. All of this began around 9 30 last night on jon scott boulevard when officers received a call for domestic dispute. The suspect who reportedly had a gun stayed inside barricaded himself inside of the home. Claiming he had 500 rounds of ammunition. That suspect at one point did open fire. Hitting patrol cars. Fortunately no officers were hurt and police did not return fire. They managed to get that man out of the home after speaking with negotiators he was taken to nearby hospital to be evaluated and he is now facing a number of charges. In norton. Nicole oliverio. 7news today in new england. Happening today an 18yearold will be headed to court. Facing charges related to an assault and an attempted 14yearold girl walking to the bus. Thats when he apparently attacked her and knocked her down. Lets go to jennifer eagan. He has the latest. Attempted kidnapping and strangulation those are two of the charges this 18yearold is facing. Hell go before a judge here later this morning. We where there when he was released from the Police Station last night. 18yearold john allen had nothing to say to the camera after posting bail. Did you try to attack a 14yearold girl. Do you anything to say for yourself. Allen jumped into the car while the female driver tried to hide her face. He try kidnapping a 14yearold girl as she was walking to her bus stop on puritan road last week. I think its great they have an arrest. They got somebody because obviously if someone does that to person it could happen to someone else. Im surprised. They didnt have much to go on. You got a good police force. And save her from the attack. This is a fairly closely admit neighborhood and people kind of watch out for their neighbors. Allen lives on puritan road the same area where the attack happened. Officers arent saying what evidence led them to the teen but they say they hope the arrest will make the community feel safer. A lot of questions here. Police on the scene of an emergency situation on the campus of Boston University. This is happening right now at the Memorial Library at 771 Common Wealth avenue. We do have a crew on the way to check things out. Well bring you the latest just as soon as we get it right here. Also this morning suspect said to face a judge after a deadly shooting in dorchester. Police say two men were arguing inside of a home on west cottage street. When one of them fired a gun. They me the two men did know each other. Bill evans said theres a message connected to this tragedy. Always talking about the violence. And how many guns are out there. And this is why we got to continue to get the guns off the street. No word yet on what charges that suspect is going to face. And three teenaged girls are facing hate crime charges after allegedly harassing and assaulting a women they thought was an immigrant. Two 15yearolds were arraigned thursday. Prosecutors say the victim boarded the red line train and the teens began verbally harassing her. Maching her acscent. When the victim tried to lee one of the girl allegedly hit her in the face with a cell phone. All of those suspects will be back in court later this month. Right now authorities are staying alert with a socalled spelling bee bandit. Hes accused of robbing several banks in the suspect has been handing over misspelled notes to more. Reporter surveillance pictures of a bank robbery. But if you ask this suspect, he might tell you hes committing a bank robery. Nicknamed the spelling bee bandit the fbi sar cast ticcally calling that. In articlington. Redding, peabody. He keeps leaving out one of the bs. All sarcasm aside they want to find this guy. He hit this bank in peabody 1 00 in the afternoon last sunday. Ridiculous. Ive never seen anything like that. Heard of anything like that right down the street. Not far from here. Peabody Police Station. Right now police are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a Commuter Rail train. It happened in welsey. A 59yearold was hit right near welsey square around 6 30 last night. The accident forced mbta officials to shutdown the Worcester Framingham line for more than an hour. You could hear the engineer scream. Emergency, emergency. And then we came to u. S. Ed jen stop. Itsth dont want to you not worriment about yourself any more. You are concerned about who they probably hit. Right now police dont suspect foul play. And we want to get back to breaking news that weve been following that we first passed along a couple of moments ago. Police on the scene of whats described as an emergency situation. Thats on the campus of Boston University at the Memorial Library at commonwealth avenue. We understand from authorities bridge carlton street thats now closed. That stretch of roadway there. For this emergency situation just checking Boston University twitter account they are saying that people should avoid that area if at all possible. You know just pass thing along. Bu sending out an alert to avoid the area. We have crew working the scene now. We dont have a lot of informationment. But i appears to be at library. They have a section of the road blocked off between com of and the bu bridge there. If you are in that area. Avoid it at this time. We have crew there on the scene. Were talking about the weather heading into the weekend. We have ren here for a look at that. Its a gorgeous friday forecast. Sunny throughout the day. Weather than yesterday. Cloud cover starts to thicken up into tomorrow afternoon. Especially by the later afternoon andening hours. Out ahead of next frontal system. That brings a big cooldown in the forecast as we head into your sunday forecast. More on that in a moment. First a quick check of what we see now. 50 in peatown. But its breezy across the cape. Wind gust between 20 up to 30 miles per hour. And well continue to see that through the morning and early afternoon. Also some additional cloud cover there in association with low pressure off the sunshine temperatures in the upper 40s. Mid 40s in bedford. A look at satellite and radar you see couple of additional clouds across the cape. Mostly sunny sky. Clear skies for us. You can take a look at whats headed our way, though. This is low pressure system that is bringing this seasons first major snowfall to the upper midwest as well as the west coast. We had blizzard watches for southeastern south dakota and western minnesota. You can see wintery mix there. Lots of snow reports there. From this system. But in terms of snow that should hold off for us. High pressure in command of the weather pattern. Winds from the north and we keep things try mild in association with this High Pressure system into saturday. Its isnt really until saturday evening this next frontal system starts to creep into new england. And as it does so this is where we look to see showers into monday morning. You can see further to west some blue. I do think that western mass berkshires as well as the Worcester Hills and Merrimack Valley you could see a couple flurries. Most of that will hold off until sunday. Late sunday night we could see a couple of flurries in the Merrimack Valley Worcester Hills as well as berkshires. Most dry when it comes to flurry late sunday night. We could see just a couple of flurry primarily to the west. Thats in association with the jet stream taking a major dip bringing some cool ka fadian air our way. Highs today for us will be in the mid 50s. Again get outside and enjoy it before our weather pattern does shift into next week. Back to you guys. We continue following breaking news here this morning. Right now police are on the scene of what appears to be an emergency situation on the campus of Boston University. What we know now the Mugar Library over on commonwealth avenue. We draw on the scene. We live images coming in now. Dont know if we are ready to take the pictures yet. We are working to establish that shot. Im looking for police on the scene. The bomb squad is there at bu. Heres the images. What we know now is that com avenue in between the bu bridge and carlton street is closed down. Heavy Police Presence and you can hear the sirens and it sounds like more emergency officials are awrying on t the arriving on the scene. They ask people to stay away from this area. Obviously an area where theres gridlock, com avenue major and word from state Police Coming to us section between bu bridge and carlton street once again as you are mentioning was shutdown. We see a little bit of Police Caution Tape over there. This lacks like the area were looking at. I am looking at google earth right now. You can see actually see where that red banner is. Its like a courtyard there. So where this library is located 771 com avenue theres other right there as well. 771 com avenue the area where we are talking about. And you see the heavy Police Presence there. You see the emergency lights the police tape is up. Traffic seems to be getting up and down com avenue at this time. What were looking at i know according to state police as they mentioned police have shut down part of com avenue between bu sent out a tweet advising people to stay away. Exactly. Clearly an emergency situation. This is an interesting to give you a lay of the land here. Bu is wedged this area here you mentioned the school of law. And marsh chapel. These are all building close by where this is happening. Thats the look at the map now. So that is wedged between com avenue and in back of it starrow drive. We dont hear anything about that. Just the area of carlton street. One again that area shutdown carlton to the bu bridge. Theres some officers there. You can see them gathered. Our photographer zooming in a little bit. Doesnt appear to be a sense of urgency. You dont see Anyone Running around. Theres some people milling around. Theres an officer there with looks to be heavy firearms in happening. What exactly is happening we know its an emergency situation. Its not a drill. But were still investigating and trying to figure out what the circumstances are behind this heavy Police Presence and the Fast Response down to bu campus. Were watching social media as well trying to get update from our reporter on the scene who is calling in victoria warren is down there trying to get as much information as she can. And its interesting here. Ive been closely monitoring their twitter account andy area but we will update with more info as soon as possible. Thats 12 minutes ago. Nothing else to come from bu since that time. Hopefully they will be sharing as much information as possible because as you know things can be so much nor stressful when you are not hearing what exactly is going on. But like you were mentioning. I dont see the pace quickening here. It seems like they are definitely taking things. Environment there. Clearly a lot of people. One thing i noticed i havent seen car coming down com avenue. Theres initially a couple of cars. Maintain they were just clearing com avenue. Looks like closed down larger section of com avenue. Initial state police said it was carlton street. This looks like its stretching far beyond that. It looks like they may have expanded that. Theres a bus coming down. You dont see the heavy traffic you would expect to see on com avenue this time of day. Probably if they block thats probably not allowing the traffic to advance. But, yeah, you were mention things whole area the area involved in this closure doesnt encompass this brick paved area were talking about. So giving a lay of the land. This is a prominent area. Its right between starrow drive and com avenue. A lot of people photograph the city skyline from the bridge. City. School is in session. Boston university packed full of students. We dont know we are err thatting they have evacuated. Parts of the area trying to keep people away and advising people not to go to the Memorial Library and to avoid that sec susan that you see on the screen all together. They dont want anybody in that area. While Law Enforcement works to figure out whats going on. The amount of information were releasing to us at this time is limited. But, n, people to stay away. Thats what we are hearing from the crew on the scene as well. Hopefully you know, all students are kind of aware of this and tuned into social media as we hear the sirens there in the background. Just to give you a little bit of background on the actual library. This is a library that from what i understand from just reading here that its dedicated to the arts and humanities and social sciences for Boston University. It was established back in 1966. The structure which we cant see being kept away from the scene. The area thats involved in that brick patio area there. It looks like your typical kind of mid 60s era building. Heavy on cement. The windows are quite large but not as spore radical sporadic placed throughout the building for those just joining us no. A little bit after 9 00. We first heard word there was a developing situation on th campus and weve continued to try to get as much information as we can. Which is limited still that time. Apparently theres some sort of situation happening at the Memorial Library right there on com avenue. 771 come avenue right in between com avenue and starrow drive. Some sort of emergency situation. Its not a drill. But we dont know the details of exactly what is going on inside. We see a heavy Police Presence. Right now you cant see background here. Some of them armed with heavy firearms at this point. But we dont see a sense of urgency. You dont see the panic. You dont see them running around. It seems like a relatively calm situation as they probably continue to gather information the way we are as well. Com avenue between bu bridge and carlton street at least that section is closed down right now. And shut off to foot and car traffic. But it lacks like there may be larger section closed as well. Well see cars from time to time but you dont see heavy flow of traffic you would typically see this time of day. Very busy commuters and also with so many bu students in school right now. This is the campus library. And clearly this is you know my recollection of being school. This is intense time. Semester winding down. Coming up. Some of the things located in the area. Not only the library, thats close by and again these buildings are clustered pretty closely together at the school of law. The sherman gallery, marks chapel all off of busy com avenue. As you mentioned kris, traffic has ground to a halt. Although we see some car coming through. Its tough to see. They are zeroing in on the crowd of police which we assume we have local state police on the scene. And a reporter said she saw a member of the bomb squad as well. It looked like. I dont know if our camera. If they widen out a little bit. Looked like some cars are starting to trickle down com avenue. Thats some progress. Because earlier that was completely blocked off. And we didnt see any cars whatsoever moving. Looks like they are allowing were getting update from producers as well. Boston police advising warning everyone to avoid the traffic. No foot traffic or cars. Anyone heading now or plan to go to that area police want you to stay away at this point. Their working to develop and figure out whats happening here. So they would like to do that without traffic or pedestrians to have to worry about at this they are ask all pedestrian traffic and car traffic to reroute away from this com avenue section near bu Memorial Library which is com avenue between the bu bridge. You have some theres lot of oneway streets. Its a large stretch of com of between starrow drive. Theres not a lot of road that starrow drive to com avenue. They are taking it down it appears. Our crews are getting closer the try to figure out whats happening. Victoria war seven warren is there on the scene. They are also behind the police line. Its tough to figure out whats going on. They are relying on sources. As you mentioned were getting closer here. Just checking out their calendar. Most expensive universities here in the city to attend. Thanksgiving recess coming up here. November 23rd. And classes resume on the 28th. Quite a scary situation here before all of us this take place. That i believe now based on picture eye been looking at online. For. Were hearing about all of this taking place. That looks like it right there. Boston police tweeting out that the area around 770 cm avenue is closed because of unfolding concerns again motorist pedestrians asked to seek alternate routes from the Boston Police department. But no details on what exactly is unfolding. They are saying its unfolding concern. But not specific at this point. And it looks like they are letting pedestrians through. You see them along com avenue. Students backpacks and everything. This was an area a few moments ago was roped up with politician tape. It does look like its back open. Hopefully we can get in some new information about what was going on what still is going on. But the last check in with all pedestrians and motorist to avoid the section of coma while they continue to investigate. Our cameras are getting closer. We get a little bit of different vantage point. You see a large gathering there. Looks like they are giving instruction to each other. The emergency vehicles were there on the street. Its tough to gather the information as its happening. Because police are obviously trying to deescalate or figure out whats going on their primary concern is making sure everybody is safe and campus is secure. Boston university has their own security. You have city police. You have Boston University police. Youve got state police and sometimes their primary concern is everybodys safety. And the flow of information is usually what comes next. Lacks like weve got some guys there in Tactical Gear as well. Vicki warren and dan hausle is down there. They are gathering what info they can. One of our reporters said they have the bomb squad unit there on the scene. You mentioned canine units. Tactical gear there. But they are also allowing what seems like pedestrians to walk through that area. But heavy artillery. You see that officer there with which looks to be. Theres dan hausle. And we victoria warren there too. I mean t where its unfolding quickly and you got to kind of keep up with the flow of information. We need all the help we can get as well. Clearly this is drawn out crowds. You see, obviously, members of the media getting pictures as police kind of regroup here. You see state police officer. You can see his jacket there. And kris has information for us. Lets turn it over to him. We will go out live to dan hausle. He working to hell be in front of the camera in a few moments. The map of the area the police have closed down right at the Memorial Library. 770 com avenue for apparent emergency situation. Its not a drill. Did you get something . We do know theres some new information coming but were efforting report with dan hausle. There he is. Hes been busy gathering info. You can see him this is what goes on behind the scenes. You are looking at live television. You are seeing map. We see preview dan getting ready. There we go. That looks like the bright blair possibly in question. Officers going inside. Tac team there. You see a canine unit as well. If you are just joining thus the there you sedan hausle. Dan, what do you know. Do you have new information . We could use some . I just got some information from Boston Police that this was a hoax call a bomb threat to a Boston University building. They cleared that building. They went through the students as you can see are coming around me now. And so they have been allowed to walk through now. Because have determined this was a hoax bomb call. At the same time i pointed the comra over there you saw hea other building here. It appears to be bu building with a couple of banks inside there. They may have got Additional Information and in fact many it are putting some additional tape up here. It appears after the clearing the building next door and being convinced it was a hoax they may have gotten Additional Information that caused them to have concern about another building next door. Thats what is bringing up the new tape and bringing up the officers that we saw go into the i was told it was cleared and over. Now i see there may be additional matters to be dealt with. If you could give us a lay of the land there. Do you see the library in sight . Can you show us exactly where this is taking place . We see the crime tape there. Theres one building behind us behind you. Thats not the library in question; correct . The library is over here. Thats where people were being kept back from. Police brought down that and the other building seems to be right next door. Im not sure exactly what building it is. But it does have a couple o banks on the bottom. Its actually the may loral library is what the building said. I dont know if part of the same building. The building that was previously taped off was next to what the Mugar Library now you are seeing. Thats the building next door. Library. Im not sure. I wanted to ask you. I know state Police Closed down a section of coma. We saw the sidewalk closed. Looks like people are moving freely down the sidewalks. Are the streets and roads back open . The streets and roads are open. Most of the road seem have been kept open a time. So there was a large, large Police Presence. The level of concern may have been muted a bit. Because they were continuing to allow some traffic to go by. Then they stopped it because they had so many Police Vehicles there. Traffic is now moving by in the t is continuing to move by the whole time. But again there appears to be renewed concern just moments ago about building next door. Both side moving now despite the fact out bound is clogged by traffic and by the emergency vehicles that are there as well. But the only area now is this building and Police Continue to investigate inside that building while people stand outside. Okay. We do have the dan, thank you. We have positive signs. Pedestrian traffic is open. We are traffic on com but as dan mentions theres some renewed interest in this building which you just saw there with police and k9 unit going in. And then you can see that does shift over to showers during the day. As we head into sunday and early in both the Worcester Hills. Merrimack valley as well as western mass. I think that we will bay pass on the flurries here in eastern massachusetts. If we do see anything again this isnt going to stay on the ground. Lit melt right away for us. Weve had warm pattern the jet stream further to north. That changes into next week. The jet stream dives southward and as it does so ushers some cool canadian air into new england. So we have a pretty makeshift headed our way by the start of xt term of the temperatures. And which monday it will be cool. Highs today in the mid upper 50s for most of us. I think boston looking at temperature around 60 degrees. Very comfortable conditions. Lows tonight seasonable. Couple of spot mid to low 30ings. We could have a couple of orange, norwood in upper 20s with clear skies. Relatively light wind. Your 7 on 7 forecast showing we keep things mild starting out with mostly sunny skies. Weve been following breaking news. We expect to hear from Boston Police commissioner William Evans about an incident earlier today at boston unsi avenue roped off. I believe what you are looking at is this the earlier video. Basically the area of interest with library. Were hearing now that the street is now open. Traffic the following smooltly. Doesnt appear to be an active threat. Police responded to call about emergency situation there. They have found nothing but they are still investigating. Information. That they were reporting they were responding to reportings of a suspicious device in the area. They didnt find anything. And they are now praising a great job by their officers and by bu police and Mass State Police in getting the situation involved. Opening up the traffic to cars and vehicles. And as you mention were expected to hear from the commissioner bell evans shortly. I know hes still taking care of the police business. And tal w but hopefully he can provide some clarity and what appears to be hoax situation. Exactly how our reporter dan hausle at this seen termed it a hoax call. We saw some canine units there earlier. Which arts and social sciences. Go there live. Just updating you on the developing situation that appears to have resolved itself. This is video from earlier this morning just after 9 00 where boflt police pu police and Mass State Police responded to the Memorial Library and 771 avenue. After Boston Police say they received reports there was suspicious package there at the library at 770 and 771 com avenue. They investigated and shutdown the roads there. But it appears theyve given the allclear. They were telling people to avoid the area straight out. As you were mentioning, kris, it looks like everything is getting through here. You are looking at video from through. We have seen people walking by and as you mentioned they are readying to have the commissioner come to the microphone and tell us a little bit more. Apparently according to bu they have found absolutely nothing. But police are still there investigating as you would guess. Weve seen state police on the scene. Local Boston Police as well as canine unit as to. It looks like it was ax thats the word they used. Well get more information from commissioner evans in the moment. We saw commissioner evans getting ready to speak a moment ago. Theres commissioner evans talking with officers there. And a tweet from boston pd just a little bit ago praising the work of Boston Police officers as well as Mass State Police and bu police there on the scene to get the situation rectified relatively quickly which if it appears to be a hoax like the they got those road shutdown quickly and got everyone to safety as fast as possible. The section of com avenue around bu was closed down from the bu bridge stretching over to traffic. Closed to automobiles and cars and truck. The t kept running for the most part it was shutdown while police moved in to investigation. And it was pretty active scene there. A lot of folks. We have state police mention.
