This morning, the temperature is warmer. Its come down a little bit. Right now in boston were at 56 degrees. Youll see whats happening. Were going to top off in the 60s but plenty of sunshine to talk about the day today. The cool air is flowing in over the area. Thats why it just wont warm up that much today. Theres the cloud cover thats moving out. You can see a little bit of sprinkle activity gone. Were clearing the skies away nicely out there. A beautiful day. That sky will be that cobalt blue as we head to the afternoon because High Pressure is in. High pressure settles in. Then we look for our next chance for rain. Its showing up tuesday as that front comes in from the west. Today, look for sunshine and about 68 degrees. Much cooler than it was yesterday. Tomorrow, a chilly start. From Washington State. A shooting there has left five people dead. Chaos erupted last night in the suburban mall. Doug police are searching for the gunman on the run. The shooting broke out at a mall north of seattle last night. This was the scene as First Responders descended upon that mall. Police say the victims, four women and a man, were shot in the Makeup Department of a macys store. That mall was quickly evacuated and a command center was set up. A this man. Police say he is the only suspect right now. They say he used, as you just heard, what theyre calling a long begun but did not specify the caliber. Witnesses describe a frantic scene. It was more like a shot and two seconds later another shot. You know, so crazy. Crazy. Doug police say a motive for that shooting is unclear at this hour. The f. B. I. Has been called in to assist in that investigation. Shayna right now chelsea Police Searching for a suspect after two students are stabbed near the high school. Reports, theyre in the hospital with serious injuries. John a Police Presence at the Chelsea High School Football Game just hours after two students were attacked about a block from the school. Young kids are involved, and our youth is, like, involved in these type of things. But its scary. John police say the two students were rushed to the hospital with serious stab wounds after a fight erupted near these train tracks on everett avenue. Students who stayed after school say concerned administrators took precautions. Speaker saying we were on a lockdown. Everyone stay put. They made an announcement. Everyones on lock down. Make sure you lock all the doors. John police say the suspect ran off, but they think he knew the boys he attacked and theyre not ruling out the possibility others were involved. Parents say they often worry about their kids safety. I always feel like that he needs to be aware of his surroundings and whats going on. And safetys number one. John students are rattled by the violent crime, hoping police we dont know who these people are, but, you know, our prayers go out to them and their families. John we know police are interviewing the victims as they try to track down the suspects. Those victims are expected to survive. In chelsea, john atwater, wcvb, newscenter 5. Shayna right now, police are searching for the man who indecently assaulted a man in jamaica plain. Boston police say the victim was walking with a friend along jamaica pond when a man approached her. Police are asking anyone with any information to give them a call. Doug a belmont man is facing charges, accused of driving drunk when he hit a detail officer working in lexington. Sean mckeown told police he was leaving work as a bar tender in downtown lexington when he felt his jeep hit something. That something was detail officer frank san severino. He was rushed to the hospital and needed surgery on his severely broken ankle. The driver admitted to police hed been drinking before he hes been ordered not to drink and he cant drive at all as long as this case moves forward. Sky 5 over the taunton municipal lighting plant where one person was hurt in an explosion on friday. A fire in a switch unit inside a large Circuit Breaker caused that blast. The extent of the victims injuries unclear this morning. Shayna 5 on the opioid crisis. A big spike in overdoses in quincy. 19 just in the last week. Three of them fatal. Police say this is the largest at a quincy treatment facility, phones are ringing off the hook. Of the nearly 200 beds at solutions group, only seven are left. This is disturbing to us. We try and link the people together as our common link between the individual, some common denominator. We havent found that in this rash. Shayna police and recovery experts say there is no single cause for the increase, but one antioverdose drug. Police say fatalities are down significantly since the introduction of narcan. Doug the new cases of west nile virus have been diagnosed in massachusetts. That brings the state total to five cases this year. The most recent cases were confirmed on friday. A woman in Norfolk County and a man from Middlesex County both receiving treatments. Several communities are considered what they are calling high risk for nile. That includes boston, chelsea, newton and somerville. No deaths have been reported this year. Shayna cheerleaders at Bridgewater State honoring a a crash. 19yearold Haley Sanford was a passenger in a car involved in a crash on 495 in raynham wednesday night. She had just transferred Bridgewater State this year, and the schools Athletic Director says she made an amazing impact. She was not only an amazing cheerleader. A group called dc leaks posted this image of Michelle Obamas passport online. The white house says that the hackers broke into the email of a stafr shayna the royal family also the victims of a suspected hack. A hacker is reportedly trying to sell photos that were stolen from Pippa Middletons icloud account. The stolen photos include pictures of middleton and her fiance along with pictures of niece and nevada view, the nephew, the duchess of cambridge, kate middleton, and prince williams children george theyre trying to sell the pictures for at least 65,000. Caught on camera, the Worlds Largest passenger plane rocking violently on its approach to the u. K. Airport. The emirate airbus a380 was visibly swaying over manchester, england. Once the wind dies off, any heat you build up during the day escapes with clear skies. With the lack of wind, it funnels all that cool air into the valleys. Eight businesses, dozens of homes and a rock quarry were flooded. Heavy equipment nearly submerged after a dam broke. In 1993, he was caught in a gang shootout. The questions came was he in a gang involved with drugs. No. The bright 15yearold had been on his way to a teens against Gang Violence meeting. That shooting happened last night at a mall north of seattle. Police say the victims were shot in the Makeup Department of the macys store there. The shooters motive still unclear at this hour. Shayna to charlotte where protests continue after the shooting of a black man by police. Hundreds on the march there last night. The protests come just hours after the release of chilling video of the deadly shooting that started it all. Newscenter 5s mary saladna shows us the controversial images. He has no weapon. Did you shoot him . Mary scott documents it all on her cell phone. Her husband, now motionless on the ground. These are the Police Officers that shot my husband and he better live. Mary just minutes earlier, keith scott was sitting in a parking lot waiting for his sons school bus when officers in the neighborhood arrived to serve a search warrant on someone else. For days, protestors and scotts family have call to release bodycam and dashcam video of the shooting. If i were to put it out indiscriminantly and it doesnt give you good context, it can inflame the situation. Mary the Police Department says scott was armed and this image taken after the shooting shows the gun they recovered. Hillary clinton, who planned to visit charlotte sunday, has now canceled that trip at the mayors request. Clinton has called for police to release their video. Im mary saladna, wcvb, doug right now, police in stoughton are looking for the alleged gunman who shat a teenager inside a cvs pharmacy. That suspect considered armed and dangerous. An arrest warrant has been issued for this man. Police saying that 23yearold marcus pierrelouis is the man responsible for thursdays shooting. An 18yearold man was shot in the shoulder. Since then, a 15 and 16yearold were arrested in connection with that shooting. We know a couple of the teens that were involved in the shooting, and so like a lot of people are talking about it, and we know we know the kid that sad about that. Doug no one else was injured inside the store. Police say the motive is unclear right now but do say this was not a random act. Shayna 5 investigates with new exclusive information on a story they broke. Its a drug thats supposed to use user fight addiction. But our kathy curran has new drug of choice and to get it theyre going to extraordinary length. Reporter youre about to see a drug deal go down at a correction center, the most secure prison in the state. Watch closely as this woman grabs a plastic baggie out of her shirt, passes it to the inmate who quickly stuffs it in his mouth. Inside were strips of an addictive Prescription Drug used to treat opiate addiction. Its choice being smuggled into state prisons and county lockups. You get large quantities in a very small package. Reporter security teams sweep the security room before and after every visit. Hundreds of cameras watch the inmates every move. Weve had packages up to 250 strips all the way down to minimal three, two, one strip coming through. We have a fulltime investigator staff who does nothing but work on seizures of the drug. Its a 24 7, 365 battle of inmates trying to get drugs into the facility. Reporter the weapons include drug dogs that sniff out the small orange strips. That wont be allowed. Reporter mailroom staff have found it glued into cards and photos. This letter was soaked in the drug. Its also been melted down and used as theyll just add water, paste it down and make it look like theyre painting balloons on a card. We do daily random drug testing of inmates and change our mail policy regularly and limited any contact visits that an inmate can have with anyone. Weve tried to utilize everything we have to stay ahead of the curve. Reporter any inmate coming into inmate is trying to smuggle in. Were looking at an inmate came in off the street, swallowed a bag of heroin. Thats it at the end of his digestive tract. Reporter 5 investigates took a look at some of the cases where the drug has surfaced behind bars. During the past year and a half, 307 inmates tested positive for the drugs. The strips have been intercepted hundreds of times in prisons and jails its been stashed inside bibles, in the quran, and stuffed in socks. This woman whose identity were protecting says her boyfriend whos doing state time was clean for several years. Now hes behind bars, addicted and desperate to get his hands on cyboxin. Even if i wanted to get away from it, i cant. Problem. Reporter an 8 mil gram strip of cyboxin costs 8. The going rate behind bars is 10 times that. If an inmate in state prison has a history of drug use, theyre only allowed noncontact visits, and many of the counties have outright eliminated contact visits. Kathy curran, 5 investigates. Shayna a local Plastic Surgeon has resigned his license. 70yearold dr. Sheldon sevinor of nahant was busted last weekend, accused of buying crack cocaine in lynn. He held a license for more than 40 years. Police say they witnessed sevinor buying the drugs. They found five packets of crack with him. Hes facing drug possession charges. Doug to commitment 2016. A new poll shows more than half of the country fears a donald trump presidency. The Associated Press gfk poll found 56 of americans would be 44 fear a Hillary Clinton presidency. The poll also found that only about 1 3 of americans believe that trump is at least somewhat qualified to serve as president. Meanwhile, as the candidates are preparing for mondays debate, theyre also preparing for a meeting with israels Prime Minister. Police say the vicms macys store there. The shooters motive still unclear at this hour. Shayna two students suffered serious injuries after a stabbing in chelsea. Police are now searching for the suspects. The stabbings happened a block away from their high school. Police say they think the suspect knew the boys that attacked them. And theyre not ruling out the possibility that others were involved. Doug police in stoughton are searching for 23yearold marcus pierrelouis. Hes accused of shooting inside two teenagers were arrested friday in connection with that shooting. Police say the suspect and the victim were known to each other. Protestors took the streets for the fourth night in a row. Last nights protest came just hours after the victims family released cell phone video of the moments leading up to the shooting. Shayna im so happy to report he is doing great at the Mystic Aquarium in connecticut. A spokesperson tells the cape cod times the manatee is warming up and eating well. The sea cow was rescued thursday after over a month of swimming in cape waters. Animal welfare groups were concerned about the manatees health as the water on the cape continued to cool.
