But to show his commitment to honoring that agreement, new york city lit up its buildings in green. Yeah. So, every time justin visits the house, he wants to take out the bike. [ laughter ] the tandem bike. Steve so its just there for when he comes. Its a dinner party among three millionaires and their wives, and by a couple of tricks in the plot, a seventh guest is at the dinner table, and thats salma, who is a mexican immigrant spiritual healer and physical therapist who deals with the lady of the house. And it becomes this study in discomfort. I mean, just a usually very social evening turns very tense. And it becomes a kind of faceoff between salmas character beatriz and mine, doug strat. Im sort of the alpha guest. Theyre celebrating me. And salma and i kind of face off and become antagonists and the comedy becomes very, very complex. I think its a fabulous movie. Jimmy its good. You produced the number one billboard album in the uk charts right now. Here is the number one album. Congratulations. [ cheers and applause ] thank you. Jimmy your father, Sir George Martin passed away not too long ago. Age 90, was it . 90, yeah, he was 90. He passed away march of last year. And the funny thing was, the first thing, he was a lovely man, and he was a beautiful man and very incredibly talented. And he died and we had the funeral, took a week off. And the first thing i did, you know, i was asked to by the beatles, to go in and remix this and the first voice i heard was his. Jimmy really . Its extraordinary. Jimmy miss him, huh . Yeah, i mean his spirit lives on. He was such a great guy. But you know, he wanted to go, cheery note. [ light laughter ] jimmy yeah, he must have gotten you into producing. Were you always into doing what your dad did . Yeah, no he was i wanted to do music. I loved music. And i was okay at music at school. You know, i wasnt bad. And he kind of banned me from it. Hes like, you know, you must get a proper job. You know, for gods sake. You can earn a living doing something else. And we what happened was he started losing his hearing. And i became his ears. And he didnt want to tell anyone he was losing his hearing because he didnt want to lose work. So i would come in and be this precocious, you know, teenager. And he would say to me so i sort of learned the frequencies going down how to hear that and listen like he did. And i was his ears. And a lot of people knew about it. I saw Pete Townsend a few months ago, and he actually mentioned it to me. I worked with him. And he goes, i remember those times. And id be this sort of seeing eye dog for the record producer. Jimmy these legends and giants in front of you. Were you just used to having the beatles around . I didnt think of them like that. I was just there looking after my dad. You know, that thing where i was just looking after my dad. And yes, i tell you what they are, these people are so good at what they do and it makes your life easier. But you know jimmy yeah, but then what a a project. This must have driven you crazy. This is one of the most complicated records, i think, in the history of music. Yeah, no ones ever sort of said, sergeant pepper doesnt sound very good. And then the beatles sort of you know, i worked with paul and ringo and yoko and olivia harrison. Theyre my bosses. We remixed the love show in las vegas. The love album. Jimmy i love that record. Thank you. And the great thing is that we dont announce were doing it. So i can go and encouraged to go into the studios and really, you know, try and push boundaries and do stuff. And then, if its not very good, no one ever hears of it. I mean, you should hear all the bad stuff ive done. Jimmy this is made on a a four track. This is a four track. So you can record four things. Jimmy only four things. But then what they did was they took those four tracks and they record them in another tape machine, another tape machine, another tape machine. So a bit like, you know, an old cassette player where theres degradation. We managed to go from the im based at abbey road studios, which is a great place. We have all the tapes locked up in abbey road studios. And we worked from those. Jimmy does it look like this box, when you buy the box set. Thats what the boxes looks like. That is what the boxes look like. Jimmy thats why you have box sets. Because it looks cool like this. You get to see stuff i never saw before. I have, of course, a thousand questions from just the cover art alone like this is all done, this is not photo shopped. This is obviously 1960. Well thats the thing. I mean think about this cover here is it was made by peter blake. He actually theyre lifesized cutouts. A bit like the album in a way. The reason why the album is so unique its people hitting stuff in the studio. Theres no sampling. Theres no digitization. Its just real. And thats why its lasted so long. Its the new cover. [ cheers and applause ] thats the new cover of the album. Its a subtle difference. Questlove has a question which i always heard questlove i want to know about the very last moment of the record where they did the backyards looping thing. How did they do that with the dog whistle and the thats all four of them around the microphone in the studios. They decided to put a looper on the final group. It just goes continuous. And they basically made it the length of the loop and its them just talking all at the same time. Jimmy and so it just never ends. It never ends but before jimmy the neverending song. But before, theres a a very theres a 15 kilohertz term. My dad used to talk to them about frequencies and you know, he knew about this stuff. And they went, theres a a frequency that only dogs can hear or will annoy dogs, and i think paul or john went, great, lets put it on our album. Jimmy there really is a dog whistle. Yeah, so just at the end of a day in the life, you know, theyre on the its on there now. You know, it will annoy your dog. [ laughter ] ive had letters from dogs. [ laughter ] jimmy protesting the album. Paw print. Jimmy paw prints. You know what you did. Yeah. Its like listening to the sounds for first time. Which ive never thought would say about sergeant peppers. I listened to this hundreds of thousands of times. Not as much as you. But it is a totally different experience, great experience.
