Lay out whats expected to happen today. Reporter this all came about yesterday when that accuser, a witness for the prosecution testified that although she waited nearly two decades to go public with her encounter she told her mother about the assault after it happened. This is why there is that question of whether that mother should be allowed to testify in court. Its a decision we are expecting the judge to rule on some time this morning. That was bill cosby on his way in. Mr. Cosbys lawyers argue he is innocent. They went after the credibility of that witness who they say was not fired from her job as cosbys agency as she testified but lost her job after filing workmans comp claims. They pushed her on why she waited and never reported this incident to her boss at cosbys company. That is what she broke down in front of that jury. She said she was embarrassed. At the time she thought she was the only one going up against the biggest celebrity in the world at that time. The clouds are in. It gives you an idea that clouds are low and they are going to hang in there. We have a few showers ton the radar in pennsylvania. Whatever hit us is now well offshore. These showers are much lighter than what we saw. They are much more scattered. Not going to last that long. But as we go through the afternoon you can see them coming down in the northwesterly wind flow. Locally a little bit heavier in a couple of spots and during the afternoon rush. Its not going to be a widespread thing. There are going to be more showers. It is a very unstable atmosphere and in addition to all of the clouds we still have all of the showers. Currently 64 degrees now. 59 in mount holly. 58 in trenton. Its cold for this time of the day. It is 59 allentown plus the cloud cover is going to help keep the temperature down. So we are not getting out in the 60s today. Some showers for the afternoon rush and some zatscattered show this evening as well. Temperatures not dropping a lot overnight. You can see its kind of a miserable looking day and night. We also have some 90 degree temperatures in the forecast too. Ill tell you about that coming up. Breaking news from paris. Police shot and killed a man. You can see police presence. The man was reportedly trying to attack a Police Officer and was killed by police. They are not saying dwret why but they are telling us repairs are being made. It covers several neighborhoods in trenton and covers a small portion along route 29. Some good news, the water is back on after this giant water main break. Yesterday they sent thousands of gallons of water into basements and yards. Only neighbors getting advisories need to boil their tap water. Now decision 2017, voters are at the polls for the primary. Phil murphy is the front runner for six democratic candidates. There are five competitive and winners will go head to head in november to replace chr chris christie. Well have updates when they come in on air and on our nbc 10 app. Three different shootings where part of a violent night across philadelphia. One shooting turned deadly. Police found a man lying with gunshot wounds to his head just before midnight. He died at the hospital. So far no arrests in that case. A man was shot around midnight. He is in Critical Condition this morning. Police responding to reports of gunfire and found the man walking along adams avenue. Medics took him to the hospital with a wound to the stomach. They are hoping cameras can help them. It happened inside a house. Police say a domestic dispute lead to the gunfire. New this Morning State Police invegs gaiting a fire where a mother and two children were found shot to death. The fire was reported around 3 00 a. M. Firefighters got inside and they found three people and a dog dead in the back bedroom. All had gunshot wounds. The children were both under the age of ten. The womans husband was at work at the time. Jurors back at work deliberating the case of a man accused of akaultinging six sisters who were gifted to him by the girls parents. He fathered two children with one of the girls. We have details ant daniel we praugt you that on monday morning. Police arrested his father. He faces charges of helping his son get away. They say he drove him to philadelphia yesterday afternoon. Jr. Is still on the run. Gone too soon. Family, friends and classmates remembering a beloved Delaware County student killed in a sunday night car crash. We ask you to lay your hands on the family. They lit candles, cried together and released balloons. He was killed in a roll overcrash. Two other teens were also hurt. His death has everyone reeling. Great kid. We have a lot of clouds until then. So this is the line of showers and thunderstorms we saw. 5 00 a. M. The start of the morning rush. They race through the area. Now we are left with just scattered showers moving into upper bucks county and into potstown right now. You can see the spin right up there. The other system we are watching the down near the gulf coast. A huge spin with that. It will be a noreaster developing later in the week. It may become close enough to effect the shore right now. Now, you can see these showers, small, fast moving, mostly ton light to moderate side. Occasional heavier shower even into the evening hours. The temperatures, well, they are not really moving very much. There is tomorrow morning. Its cloudy everywhere across the area. As you can see, temperatures in the 50s. 60s tomorrow afternoon with few showers around but lots and lots of clouds. So for the next three days those temperatures are way below average. More rain tomorrow and we are not going to see much improvement until the end of the week and then by sunday we are up near 90 degrees. June is aids education month. Series of conferences and workshops to help educate people about hiv and aids in the greater philadelphia area. Joining us are julia from philadelphia fight. Welcome to you both. Lets start with you. People are living longer with hiv but they is still no cure. Tell us more about that. There are misconceptions about that. People are living longer because medications are incredible. There is no cure but we are very close to a cure. We believe perhaps within the next ten years or maybe sooner we will find a cure. Do you still hear people with misconceptions about the disease . There is still lots of stigma. My position is working with the faith community. I do a lot of outreach. Information, clearing up misinformation. People still think they can contract the virus by touching the sweat of somebody with hiv. Those sorts of things still exist. I try to dispel all of that. And again, this is why education is so important to sort of remove some of that. Yeah. We spend an enormous amount of time going into the Community Giving hiv 101 men prenations to staff, whunty members, to talk about how they can prevent love, how they can live out their dreams with hiv. There is a lot of really exciting information about hiv out in the world right now. We have a pill once a day you can prevent high risk. There are new treatments every day coming out and like she said, there is a lot of things happening right here around the cure for those living with hiv. Its a very exciting time. When youre organizing for all of these events and the people youre sending out, whats the one thing you stand up and say this is the one message we want to hear about hiv and aids . I would say that one message is to get tested especially now. Get tested, know your status and get into treatment because you can live out all of your dreams. Hiv is not what it used to be. Pam, what can you tell us about day two . Reporter yeah. We have been talking all morning about whether or not the mother of one of the witnesses will be allowed to testify. We know she has testified. Here is what she told the jury. She said that she and her father she told them bill cosby invited her to a lunch to talk about her career. When he got there she said she was direct today a bungalow. She got there and cosby answered the door in a bathrobe and slippers. He said lunch was coming to them and that is when cosby allegedly offered her pills. She told her mother she refused it but he insisted. She also told her parents when she woke up her clothes were disshovelled. She worked for cosbys talent agency. She claims she was fired after the encounter. Defense says she was let go because of workman comp complaints. Here is another thing. The witness reportedly gave a deposition during that workmans comp dispute. It cannot be found right now. A lot happening inside of that courtroom. We have reporters in there right now. Well have many more updates throughout the day, online and on air as well. There will be more showers around but nothing nearly as well organized or as heavy as we saw far portion of the morning rush. What we are going to see, clouds. We are not going to see the sun. This is a shot at cape may and despite the fact that its not raining down there, its plenty cloudy. That was the area that came through this morning. We have more spinning around and upper air lows coming down. So there will be more. We have one shower near pots town and Chester County right now. There will be others developing, moving pretty quickly. Heavier rain would only last for a few minutes. As you can see, they are kind of small compared to the size that we get very often. Into the evening and overnight hours well see more showers around. We are not expecting any big thunderstorms but its just going to be a nasty day with temperatures way below average. Its 64 degrees in philadelphia now. Only 60 in northeast philly. It is 58 in trenton. Its june, but thats what happens when you get the clouds and east wind. The temperature really not going any where through this afternoon. More showers through the afternoon and even into the evening. Well see when we finally see sunshine with the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. Well see you then. People in businesses in trenton are being told to boil their water this morning. They are being warned about a problem with it. Sidney is live with more on what water officials have just said, sidney. Reporter we just learned within the last hour or so that the potential or actual threat to the drinking supply has been caused bay Technical Glitch. That is trenton water works. It caused a dip in the chlorine and that is what purifies the water that we use in our homes and businesses every day. In fact a little less than half of all trenton residents, roughly 35,000 are being asked to bill their water. The area is from Delaware River to the duck island area. Residents are being asked not to drink the water, wash dishes or brush their teeth until this advisory has been lifted. Some residents say they didnt know until they woke up to hear their reverse 911 phone call. It was a little too late. The city advised not to wash your hands or face, brush your face or ingest while showering. Do not wash dishes without dluting. Nobody let me know. They should know. Sorry, do you know this . No. Oh, my goodness. Reporter the city advising restaurants to throw away any food recently made or ice cubes as well as not to allow your pets to drink the water. I have asked what caused this Water Treatment Technical Glitch and how soon it will be fixed. We are told at the very earliest by this evening. We are learning details about that disgruntled former employee accused of killing five people at answer office in florida. John Robert Newman was armed with a gun and a knife when he went into the orlando business yesterday and started singling out employees. He killed four men and a woman before turning the gun on himself. He was fired in april and had once been accused of salting a coworker. Thats saying you should never go to the Grocery Store on an empty stomach. Its probably not a good idea to shop if you have had a few drinks. One in three americans have made a spontaneous purchase while drinking. They can really cost you. They estimated an average bill of 206 each time someone shops while under the influence of alcohol. They will present the School District of philadelphias all city jazz festival. Here to tell us more is jason, Senior Management and mark allen, a musician with the pop. Thanks to both of you for being here. Thanks for having us. Lets start with you. Tell us what this event is all about. This event is all about connecting our students and School District to the great jazz music in philadelphia and giving them an opportunity to shine and perform for families, peers, community and everybody. It is probably really nice because with the cuts to the School District fine arts has been on the chopping block. It has been for a number of years. We found coming in and supplementing the programs that are in place give us the opportunity to push these kids into new areas where they can perform and learn about this music that they really truly love. Tell us what its like performing. Its great. Its an opportunity i didnt have as a student. To be able to not only learn from a professional musician but to try to match that of playing the instrument and bringing a saxophone into a school you can see all of these kids faces light up. I think its really special to be able to form those bonds. It is a beautiful instrument. Yeah. The they want to go up and touch it . Yeah. Some times they do. You mention the funding cuts. Some times they dont have nice equipment like this. There have been times where i let some of them put their mouthpiece on and see what its like to play a real instrument. Its things like that inspire kids to take their own studies to the next level. Absolutely. I have students i have made one on one relationships with through this program over the last few years. To watch them grow has been really awesome. And other ways im sure. Of course. You know, just given kids something to do after school thats productive. I think its a really special program. Bridgeville 75. Of course at the beaches its chilly. Winds coming in off the ocean cools the delaware beaches too. The afternoon highs 74 yesterday, 68 today, 67 tomorrow. The average high is 80. We wont get up there until friday. By the weekend way above average even near 90 by sunday. This is what the radar looked like at 5 30 nin the morning. Heavy showers and storms during a portion of the morning rush. Now we are left with more showers coming in from time to time. This is coming into burkes county right now. We had some showers near allentown and well have more coming in during the afternoon. Everything is spinning around this big upper air low. Those things do not move very fast. It is going to keep our pattern stuck for at least a couple of days. We are going to watch this. This is a big swirl too. As we go through the afternoon there are showers scattered around racing through the area. It doesnt rain that long especially any downpours will not last very long. As you can see its going to be cloudy. This afternoon scatter showers starting to develop. You can see on the forecast here 5 30. Most places with a threat and even a couple of threats of thunderstorms although thats the exception. Atlantic city is cool. We continue to see showers from allentown down to philadelphia this evening. Just cloudy tomorrow morning. Maybe a little bit of fog. You can see all of these clouds here. It is just not going to be a pretty day. As we go through the next four days, tomorrow about as cloudy and cool as today. Then the temperatures go up. By friday we are 80. It is 76 in dover. Families throughout our area and from all walks of life are struggling to deal with a loved one suffering from addiction and some cases they are coping with the loss of a loved one from a drug overdose. Our next guest knows about this sad reality firsthand. He lost his life to a heroin overdose in december of 2012. He is working to help families prevent the loss he has experienced. Greg is with us here this morning along with the executive director of southern new jersey. Thanks to both of you for being here. Thank you. Greg, first tell us a little bit more about your son. Justin was loving, caring, compassi compassionate. He was the spirit of our lives. He was an excellent student, 3. 0 in college and did phenomenal in high school. He developed the disease of addiction which was unbeknown to many people. It is for those not to move forward to opiates and heroin and then partner for the right in our backyard program. And tell me about right in your backyard. So right in our backyard is a program that was developed about four years ago. I had the opportunity to start to really understand the epidemic of heroin abuse throughout the state and beyond and formed a relationship with the Drug Addiction Task force and then was into deuced. Together we decided we really needed to make a difference in the community and we needed to be able to help families and young people to understand the payrolls of addiction, what are the causes and how in particular opiate and prescription pills are often a linkage to drug abuse. So greg and i developed right in our backyard. It is a program that is a presentation that we bring out to Many Community groups, churches, we have been in libraries and schools.
