Now to the ebola outbreak, four more airports will begin screening passengers asking questions and taking temperatures. At noon, the government will hold a public response meeting. And many are suggesting a travel ban be put in place preventing people flying to the u. S. From any country suffering an outbreak. And Health Officials here at home want to be ready in case the ebola virus spreads through our region. Today there will be a briefing about the protocol for travelers coming into or flew philadelphia airport. And Council Members in philadelphia will meet to discuss the citys readiness to handle any case of ebola here. Nbc10s jesse gary is outside city hall where that hearing is happening today. Jesse, the last half hour, you mentioned several city departments and agencies will be involved. Break it down a bit. Reporter yeah, vai, the early agenda has representatives of half a dozen agencies and departments convening inside city hall on the fourth floor inside Council Chambers later today. Among them the Public Health commissioner, the executive officer for the Philadelphia International airport and representatives from hospitals all across the city. Council majority leader curtis jones jr. Is chairing the hearing in efforts to find out how philadelphia can respond and contain a health in which of ebola and end enterovirus d68 are the two grabbing headlines right now but they want to look at any and all potential threats. And a hearing is is he said for Jamal Johnson the philadelphia fire lieutenant charged with kidnapping, sex crimes and impersonating a Police Officer. Investigate arers said johnson poses as a Police Officer when he told women he would be arrested if she didnt perform a sex act. On 13th street and oxford, police tell us a temple student was walking to her car when a teenage girl came up from behind and punched her in the back of the head. Temple will not issue an alert about the incident. Something one student would have preferred. I would have taken a different way. I always think they should be alerted even if they dont figure it out or not. The vehicle did not seek medical attention. The random attack came date after a 15yearold girl pleaded guilty to attacking another temple student with a brick. And police are on the hunt for the man in this surveillance video. They say the nighttime prowler who strikes while unsuspecting homeowners are sleeping. Police believe hes hit near 50 homes in philadelphia, bucks and Montgomery County since the summer. He steals labtops, purses and even cars. Police in hempfield township said he they had half a dozen in one night. They believe the burglar looks for opportunities like unlocked doors or open windows. And in a few cases, police say he stole his victims car only to leave it a few blocks away. 2 is 5 06, police are looking for answers at a womans death at 32 station. Nadia maliks body was found inside her car. Her family believes she was murdered. Her exboyfriend said he left malik with the car and took a bus 0 to ohio. He was extradited on a probation violation. A judge rule head should stay in jail another five weeks while the detectives complete their investigation. A former employee from the Pennsylvania Office is retiring from the state department of patrol. Kathleen kane claims he send more than three dozen sexually explicit emails and received more than 300. Randy feathers announced he will retire at the end of the month. Feathers says he did not initiate any emails nor did he view any born graphic videos. He said his retirement is not an admission of guilt. And kane launched an investigation recently into several former employees. It is alleged that they sent emails change pornography. The emails were discovered during the handling of the Jerry Sandusky case. And 4,000 emails involving state justices, 2800 of those emails were allegedly sent to or to justice seamus mccafferty. So far Six Supreme Court justices have been exonerated after review of some of those emails. And from our jersey shore bureau, a new measure to prevent produces gouging in Atlantic City will go to the mayor to be signed. The ordinance passed city council last night. It comes after people parking for the free Blake Shelton beach concert in july were charged 50 bucks. The city must be told of parking increases 48 hours in advance. Reporter vai, im told that the rally thats going to happen around 4 30 today is similar to protests in the past, yet, Union Leaders tell me this one is going to be much bigger. Theyre expecting up to 1,000 teachers, parents, students. Theyre angry over the cancelled teachers contract and the fact that the last School Reform Commission Meeting was not advertised like they normally are. Thats where the Commission Voted to cancel the contract. Both sides had been negotiating since terms expired last year without a contract, teachers are not getting pay increases. Yet many are still buying classroom supplies, textbooks and even helping to cover the cost of School Uniforms for some students. It is not possible for teachers to continue at this pace and continue to be Funding Source for their classrooms. Reporter and at 6 15, youll hear why this move to cancel the teachers contract came as such a shock, thats the word from the union, came as such a shock to the teachers union. We also reached out to the district to get comments on them on the School Reform admission about the protests but we have not heard back. A little good news here, meantime, Philadelphia Schools are getting a little budget bump. The School District is releasing 15 million to schools this week. The money has come from a new Teachers Health care benefits package. The School Reform Commission Approved changes to the teachers contracts that helped contribute to health care costs. Well see the temperatures rebound this afternoon. Weve seen steady rain at times overnight in cape may. Still plenty damp right at the shore. But the clouds are already thinning to our west. You can see its drying out quickly from baltimore, harrisburg is in the clear from the rain. And this clearing is going to happen during the morning hours. Youll see breaks of sunshine. Clouds, some of those will still be hanging in there. But you can expect the rainfall to come to an end. The steadiest rainfall has pushed out of Montgomery County. The heavy showers pushing past trenton right now. 70 degrees, at wrightstown, its 63, chester springs. Wilmington, 64 degrees. 60s north and west. It will climb into the upper 60s and low 70s this afternoon. And low 60s for dover and vineland. Cape may harbor, still rain showers in the area at 68 degrees.
