Investigators say Philadelphia Police sergeant is recovering from serious injuries after he was hit by a hitandrun driver, during a traffic stop. Brooke, 55 year old Police Sergeant is lucky to be alive. He suffered a broken collarbone, and also recovering from other injuries here at einstein medical center. That hitandrun happened around 1 00 this morning, on the 4100 block of main street, near sherrs lane. That sergeant from the Fifth District and another officers were conducting a traffic stop. Thats when witnesses say few thousand 2008, rav4, hit the sergeant, also sideswiped police car ripping off the hub cab and left mirror and kept going. Tow truck driver who saw the accidental letter Dollars Police and followed the 21 driver who was arrested about a mile away. Police believe the hitandrun driver was under the influence at the time. They took him into custody for a breathalyzer tells. They say it was so severe it tossed the sergeant 15 feet into the air. There is some blood on the highway, where he got hit, but he was hit with such force, that both of the shoes were torn from the feet, as well as his hat. He was torn from the head of this sergeant. Now, police tell me that 21 year old driver has not yet been formally charged but could face several charges, including drunk driving, aggravated assault by a vehicle, meantime, that sergeant remains in stable condition. Trial date has been set for the man charged in the ambush shooting of a Philadelphia Police officer. Edward archer will stand trial on october 21st, forte tempted murder of officer jesse heart nick, accused of shooting the officer as he sat in his patrol car in West Philadelphia in january. Investigators say, heartnet took three bullet to his arm, but able to return fire wounding archer. Archer allegedly confessed to the shooting, claiming he did it in the name of islam. Investigators say, 59 year old tina werner of kent county fell about 35 feet, at the go april aerial rope adventure course at the state park yesterday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at christianna hospital. The course is closed for the police investigation, and an autopsy is planned. In other news, the search for survivors growing more urgent in central italy, day after massive earthquake devastated the area.
