The judge for the county said almost all of the criminal arraignments will be held at the new courthouse in dublin. The head of the public defend s office said this new plan will be a hardship for many involved in the early court proceedings. Police were called to the Mission District early yesterday morning. They were told about a man with a knife and was screaming. That suspect then went to the parking lot of the Mission Street police station. The Police Brought in the Crisis Intervention Team to try to deescalate the situation. They tried talking to him. That didnt work. Neither did firing bean bags. Then police fired a 40 millimeter foam baton with a rubber tip. Basically what it does is allow the officers to create that distance and not have to come into closeness to the subject while being able to use a force option. That was the same weapon they used last july to end the four hour standoff peacefully. Authorities say the suspect yesterday was taken to the hospital. The incoming chancellor at uc berkeley is drafting a plan to cut the schools deficit by half. Caral cr isp sent a message to students and staff discussing her budget decisions. She was dying of brain cancer and moved to oregon where she was allowed to end her life. Critics worry that having that option will lead to hasty decisions.
