More floodreducing rain and thunderstorms are forecast beginning today and lasting until sunday. This morning, flash flood warnings and watches are posted for much of texas. Raging floodwaters washed away a jeep yesterday north of san antonio. No one was injured. Near houston, the brazos river reached a record high, and water wont recede for days. Hundreds had to be evacuated. At least six deaths are blamed on the flooding. In new jersey, a baby was born with effects of the zika virus. Doctors say the baby girl was born with a partially developed brain and head. The mother is visiting from honduras. Mom showed no symptoms other than a rash. The state department issued a travel warning for americans visiting europe this summer. The travel alert advises u. S. Citizens to be vigilant. Major sporting events, tourist sites, and Shopping Centers are possible points of interest for terrorists. Whats believed to be a great white shark attacked a surfer south of perth ander er ter to and tore off his legs. Later a shark was captured off the same beach where the surfer was attacked. The surfer is in critical condition. The parents of the 3yearold boy who got into a zoos gorilla exhibit will be questioned by police, and criminal charges have not been ruled out. Jamie yuccas reports. Reporter Cincinnati Police are investigating the parents of the 3yearold boy who fell into the cincinnati zoos gorilla exhibit saturday. Police want to know what they were doing before the boy tumbled into the gorilla habitat. We as visitors have a responsibility to be paying attention, keeping tabs on members of our family, not being distracted by technology. Reporter the boy made his way past a threefoothigh fence and an additional four feet of plants and shrubs before dropping 15 feet into the gorilla habitat. Fearing for the childs life, zookeepers shot and killed the 400pound gorilla named harambe. The zoo stands by its decision. It is also defending the childs parents. Im not a big fingerpointer. Reporter critics are questioning where the zoo didnt use a tranquilizer dart to spare the gorillas life. Animal expert jack hanna said zookeepers did the right thing. Reporter marine biologist chris lowe has been tracking the growing shark population off Southern California for more than a decade. Right now if i put the scanner in the water, well see a leopard shark. Reporter in 2014, he showed us how his team is using underwater drones to follow and observe sharks. Lowe says the number of juvenile great whites in the area is rising significantly. Theyre drawn to warm water caused by el nino and an abundance of fish to feed on. They also have no predators, and great whites are an endangered species. How long do they stay at the beaches, what makes this beach so much more special than that beach . Reporter lowe says the six to sevenfootlong juvenile great whites are skittish and usually stay away from swimmers. But with more sharks and more people in the water i think the rate of shark attack is going to continue to go up. The reason is simple math. Reporter doctors tell me that bite mark was about 18inches wide. Experts say that means this had to be an adult great white shark, at least tenfeet long.
