There was a small fire at the site of the crash. She contemplated taking some type of stick to possibly light that use it as a torch to illuminate her path. Reporter sailor navigated a difficult path. She navigated briers and bushes and significant ditch lines and was able to make it out to safety. Reporter in near freezing temperatures sailor hiked threea quarters of a mile wearing shorts and a tee shirt when she saw a porch light. 71yearold Larry Wilkins answered the door. She was barefooted, she had one sock and walked all that distance barefooted. Reporter her other four Family Members were killed, her father pilot Marty Gutzler, her mother kimberly, her nine year old sister piper, and her 14 year old cousin. Her brother, nicholas brink is an Electronics Engineer in the navy. He was honored in september for performing the heimlich maneuver on a choking victim in key west.
