He then dumped his stolen truck and stole another one. Reno police, washoe deputies and School Police searched for two hours near silver lake elementary school. A Washoe CountySchool District spokeswoman, says there were no shots fired and there was no act of violence. We dont know who had the gun, or why. Police say they received several tips after they released surveillance photos of the robbery and photos of her car. 18 year old Kassandra Portillo admitted to the robbery. Near lemmon drive and highway 395 many of the motorists were trying to swerve out of the way of the potholes. Today an Insurance Company took a Nevada Fire Department to court, alleging the Fire Department didnt do enough to prevent 2012s Topaz Ranch Estates fire. Nats case number. But up the road in minden. The legal battle over the fire. Is just beginning. I have never seen a lawsuit against a Fire Department. A local Fire Department. For failing to extinguish a wildland fire. East fork fire. Is being sued for negligence. And is being blamed for the fire. By the lawyers of people who started he fire. Confused . We were too. The first event occured on may 20th of 2012 where an Topaz Ranch Estates. East fork fire responded. They told the landowners to put the fire out. Then. Firefighters left. Without making sure the fire was actually extinguished. The Fire Department did everything it should have done in this situation, and tried its best to prevent this. Two days later however. The fire rekindled. And burned 7thousand acres. Lawyers representing the landowners and their Insurance Company. Allstate. Say its the Fire Department was negligent. In this case we think that they screwed up and that they should be accountable on a limited basis for that screwup. The lawyers for the landowner argued that firefighters should have made sure the flames were out. By not doing that. They said. Firefighters allowed the tre fire to happen. Meanwhile. East fork fire maintained. They should not be held responsible for every single pile burn in the county. Especially the illegal ones. The judge agreed. Dismissing the lawsuit against them. In douglas county. If the judge had ruled the oppostie way . East fork firefighters say they would have had to suspend pile burning indefinitely, to prevent future lawsuits.
