A large fire in San Franciscos Castro District this afternoon attracted a lot of attention from people attending the pride celebrations. A viewer shared this video showing smoke and flames pouring out of a second floor balcony near apeth and castro. The fire is under control, fortunately nobody because hurt. This happened in a busy area above the posh bagels restaurant. A homeless man who lives in the castro didnt waste a second to help get everyone there to safety. We started evacuating the building before the Police Showed up on the scene, while they stood around looking dumb founded. We jumped into action and saved lives and property. Firefighters worked quickly to get the area cleared so people could reopen castro in time for tonights dyke march. We are seeing cooler weather weekend, but fire danger is still high. A oneacre grass fire burned up the hill in Sonoma County off eagle ridge road. Homes were threatened but firefighters got a handle on the burn. People in ten Northern California counties have one week left to do any outdoor burning. Starting next saturday, cal fire is suspending all burn permits for napa, san mateo, santa cruz, solano, sonoma, marin, yolo, lake and mendocino counties because of high fire danger.
