The slide is 168 feet tall and plunges 17 stories down. Park officials arent saying how caleb died, but the park will be closed again today as the investigation gets under way. Reporter abc news learning the 10yearold of kansas state representative scott schwab died while riding water slide in the world here at the schlitterbahn water park. It still brought tears to my eyes that someone else lost their child thats my childs age that im sure they thought was safe. Reporter before the ride even opened two years ago, many raised questions about its safety, especially after watching these early safety tests showing sandbag dummies flying off the slide. The rides opening delayed at least three times while the park reworked it adding sea and safety netting. They had tests that failed and they basically had to tear it down and rebuild a portion of the ride.
