Thats true. Honestly, i dont see myself coming back. I did 3,000 yesterday and dont see myself swimming 15,000 a day ever again. Wow. I thought you were talking about calories. Isnt that how much food you had when training . Look, i know youre when i was like 15. Youre there for a program that youre launching. Near and dear to your heart working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission about pool safety for kids. Talking to a bunch of parents and youre a new parent yourself. Tell us about the program and why its so important to educate parents and kids alike about swimming . The biggest thing if you look at drowning in the world and definitely in the u. S. , second highest cause of death for children under the age of 14 in u. S. , and being able just to get out ahead of it. For us, for my family, thats how we learned to swim. Thats how we fell in love with the sport. My mom put us in the water for water safety and now being a father, you know, kind of having boomer on the verge of starting to walk, and we do have a pool out back. So always making sure we know exactly where he is, if he is outside, and now were in the process of coming up with a plan to, whether its fence the pool, or make sure we just have something set in place so if something does happen and he was to get around the pool, that he would be safe. You know, for me, this is Something Like you guys said. Its very passionate for me, and im taking the pledge as a parent and i hope everybody else will take the pledge as we with me. Michael, i have to ask. I have a 5monthold at home, dying to get him in the pool. Were going to florida next week. Is it too soon to put him in the pool with the chlorine and everything . No. Not at 5 months. Boomer was in the water between 3 and 5 months. Just him, i guess i think the biggest thing, what we try to do, with my swim school, trying to get the kid to be, like, comfortable in the water. I think thats the biggest thing. You know, for me, like, hes the direct opposite of me. I didnt want to be on my stomach. Only my back. He only wants to be on his stomach and hates being on his back. So every kid is differ and theyre all going to learn differently. The biggest thing, trying to get them relaxed in the water. Because i think once you get to the point where youre, where a kid is spazzing out, i think thats probably a big nono. So anytime we can try to get him to be as comfortable as they can, is a big goal, and with our foundation and the swim school its over 16,000 kids, in boys and girls clubs all over the u. S. And Special Olympics worldwide just being able to get water safety. If the kid doesnt want to swim, great. At least we know theyre safe in the water. And we can help save another life.
