He founded the Company Along with several others. Theres no question his ask for forgiveness, not permission attitude, pushed the company ahead of its competitors, most notably lyft. Now hes taking that leave of absence according to an email he just sent employees. He says, quote, if were going to work on uber 2. 0 i need to work on travis 2. 0 to become the hear the company needs. He also says it might be longer or shorter than you might expect, this leave. This comes after a report authored by the former u. S. Attorney general eric holder and delivered in an all hands meeting at uber about half an hour ago. Holder was hired by uber to lead that investigation into the company after a blog post by a former engineer alleged the company was rife with sexism. Its not the first time weve heard that, but that got a lot of attention. Ubers board spent seven hours looking at that report on sunday. Monday ubers second in command accepted down as well. He was a lightning rod as well. The report will help them redesign from the ground up and try to get rid of that toxic culture. If you want a championship hat you might have to do when this gentleman did, got his hand painted for about 100 bucks. The Warriors Gear has been the hottest thing in town right now. Some waited for hours to make sure they got their hands on the gear. Warriors fans on a mission to get the shirts, hats and even magnets. Warriors. Reporter they need to show their pride. Today is another big one in washington as attorney general Jeff Sessions is preparing to testify before the Senate Intelligence committee. That is about to get under way in about 22 minutes from now. Right around 11 30, a condensed newscast to bring you that hearing live. This is going to be an open session meaning the public can watch t. Originally the attorney general is going to meet with senators behind closes doors. Sessions is going to be asked if he met for a third time with the Russian Ambassador and failed to disclose it. We know about two meetings, and hell be grilled of details of a private meeting between President Trump and former fbi director james comey and whether sessions helped to clear the room there. Meantime, the Deputy Attorney general ross rosenstein, you saw video of him a second ago saying there would need to be a good reason to fire bob mueller. That question comes after a friend of President Trumps told pbs the president was apparently thinking about firing mueller. Heres what rosenstein told the congress. If President Trump ordered you to fire the special counsel, what would you do . Senator, im not going to follow any orders unless i believe those are lawful and appropriate orders. Under the regulation, special counsel mueller may be fired only for good cause, and i am required to put that cause in writing and so thats what i would do. If there was good cause, i would consider it. If there was not good cause it wouldnt matter to me what anybody said. Those remarks came just a couple hours ago. She says on social media last year a group at the high school in cupertino who identified themselves as the kill spree masters released a kill list that had the names of all africanamericans at the school and threatened to kill all africanamerican students at the school. The lawsuit claims the parents and students reported this to the school but they say the Fremont Union District High School didnt do enough to address the problem, and the School District says that when it heard about the list and turned the list over to the caluria county Sheriffs Department. Sharon, thanks so much for juggling that live reporting. Well, google and the city of san jose may be headed to an even more massive construction plan that would change the downtown area. The mercury news is reporting google is expanding its development and office and retail space. Originally the plans called for 6 million square feet. The latest plans show that google wants to add another 2,000 square feet. This is near the d. Ira d. On center. This would be the largest complex center in the world. Plans are in early talks, but the development could be five times the side of valley fair mall. We have a developing story out of georgia to report on. Police right now on high alert looking for two escaped murderers who allegedly killed two Prison Guards this morning. We brought you live breaking coverage on today in the bay. The putnam Sheriffs Office said 5 45 this morning those men overpowered two Correctional Officers on a transport bus. Authorities say that the men took the officers guns and then proceeded to shoot and kill them and then took off in the bus. Here are the mug shots of those escapees right now. They are 24yearold ricky debows and 43yearold Donny Russell armed with the officers 40 caliber glock miss tolls and they may have carjacked a green 2004 honda civic in the atlanta area right now. The bill cosby Sexual Assault trial is in the hands of the jury after moving faster than expected. The defense rapid brad up its case in five minutes as cosbys wife looked on. Stephanie gosk joins us outside the courthouse in norristown, pennsylvania. Reporter in a packed courtroom monday, cosby, his wife and his Accuser Andrea Constand listened as the defense presented its entire case in under six minutes calling just one witness. In a fiery closing statement, the lead defend attorney highlighted inconsistencies in constands story, arguing her relationship with ross did i was romantic and that what happened the night constand says she was drugged and assaulted was consensual. The lawyer acknowledged cosby had been unfaithful telling the jury when you dance outside the marriage you have to pay the marriage and you danced. According to mrs. Cosby she deserved better but miss constand was untruthful time and time again with her statements to police. In an intense moment he yelled you know why you are here. Lets be real, right . We are here because of them. Pointing to a group of women in the audience who have accused cosby of Sexual Misconduct. For the prosecutions closing statement the District Attorney kevin steele shut down the idea that the night of the incident was romantic asking this is romantic. You should be insulted by that. Its criminal. Steele argued that cosbys own statements proved his guilt. Steele focused on a civil deposition and statement to police from over a decade ago where cosby admitting to giving constand pills and engaging in sexual contact. Steele told the court all the fancy lawyering you have cant get you around your own words. If cosby is found guilty on any of the three counts, a spokesperson for the prosecution case they will ask for bail to be revoked, arguing that hes a flight risk. Right now north korea has released an american student serving a 15year prison term there, but that release comes just hours after former nba player Dennis Rodman had touched down in the reclusive country. The prisoner Otto Warmbier is on the way to the u. S. To reunite with his family though hes in a comb ark. His parents tearfully acknowledging that information. The 22yearold is a virginia student from the suburbs of cincinnati. He was sentenced in march of last year after he was caught on camera taking a propaganda banner from his hotel. Thats the governments position. There are reports that warmbiers parents say that their son contracted botulism and that he is in a coma as has been medevaced out of country. That hes been in a coma for months. Heres secretary of state Rex Tillerson speaking about the release earlier today. We continue our discussions with the north korean regime regarding the release of the three other american citizens that have been detained. We have no comment on mr. Warmbiers condition out of respect to him and the family. So the family had gone ahead and made a public statement. Meantime, back to Dennis Rodman and his visit to north korea. San francisco will be a little bit warmer than yesterday but still very nice. Police believe the suspect was having a, quote, psychotic episode and that the killing was apparently random. It all happened friday night near cupertino high school. A neighbor says he came facetoface with the suspect who wasnt wearing any clothes and was holding a hammer. I walked out to about the edge of the steps, and i screamed, hey, whos there, and this naked lady comes out of my backyard with a hammer in her hand, completely naked. The cop was here within two minutes and i pointed down there, and they went down there and arrested her. At that point she dont know what she did. Police believe 39yearold Suzan Hernandez of los gatos acted alone. Were awaiting Jeff Sessions testimony at any moment in d. C. Well be right back after this. Hang today, the trial for the hayward pet groomer accused of suffocating and killing a dog is expected to begin later today. The 38yearold man is accused of killing a 1yearold honghaired daschund at a san mateo pet smart last may. That trial is expected to last about five days. A close call for an Oakland Police officer who is in the hospital after being hit by a drunk driver. Oakland police say the accident happened about 11 30 p. M. The officer was at international boulevard when the driver allegedly hit her. She was rushed to the hospital. The officer is in stable condition. Its not clear yet if this case is connected to any of the warriors celebrations. We have new details this morning on a deadly motorcycle crash in walnut creek that shut down all northbound lanes on 680 last night. We broke this story on our 11 00 news. That accident was just after 10 00 at the i680 highway split in walnut creek. One person died as a result, and still no word on what caused that crash. Happening today. Oakland city leaders are considering adding an inspector to the new voterapproved civilian police commission. Tonight at city hall the Public Safety committee will discuss responsibilities of the civilian commission, and they will vote to add the civilian inspector general. We spoke with an Oakland City Council member about what the commission will do. You need someone who is going to audit and look at reforms and audit the Police Department on an ongoing basis, and that somebody needs to be a civilian who has expertise and needs to be someone who reports to the police commission, not to the police chief. The commission was overwhelmingly approved by voters in november. This all came in response to a number of scandals involving Sexual Misconduct by members of the Police Department. That resulted in a nearly 1 million settlement with the victim. As we await that capitol hill testimony, were going to bring that live to you as soon as it starts, more local news to get to. Inhumane is how county supervisors are describing the working conditions at san sfriss emergency call staff. Its so understaffed that 911 dispatchers are being told they have to work overtime and some are averaging between 60 and 70 hours a week. Nbc bay areas Mark Matthews is at San Francisco city hall with more. Reporter some of the 911 dispatchers here in San Franciscos Emergency Call Center are working 16 hours a day four days a week. How many hours a week do you work on average . On average, on average 70 hours a week. Reporter an increase in call volume, including a doubling of 911 calls to report homeless encampments and an increase in retirement and resignations in part because of working conditions have led to a chronic shortage of dispatchers. At a city hall hearing more than a dozen dispatchers raced through statements trying to get it all in. Within a couple of minutes they were allotted. Outside in the hallway we heard a lot more. We have a lot of hostility, harassment, bullying, lack of training, lack of support. Last summer i had a weekend off, a complete weekend last time i had a complete weekend off i cant even remember. Reporter and hes been working dispatch for 17 years. It is inhumane for people to be working 16 hours, and despite the inhumanity its also patently unsafe. I have to say im alarmed and completely humbled by your work, and im angry. Certainly a critical job, obviously. Mark matthews reporting. The supervisors later this week will address the issue head on when they take up the new budget. What the dispatchers want is to be reclassified from public works to Public Safety officers which would mean better wages, better retirement and better benefits. He said the current work classification is not right. The San Jose City council is expect to vote on mayor sam liccardos budget for the 2017 fiscal year. If approved, it would focus on funding for emergency preparation and Flood Recovery efforts as well as road repair and maintenance and beautification projects. Well, it does look as though well be heading to that News Coverage soon so lets turn you over to nbc news. Members of the committee are expected to question the firing of james comey and his decision by sessions to recuse himself from the russia investigation.
