Interestingly, we spoke with someone who used to work on a yard in the peninsula, he says it seems to be much worse down there whenever it rains. Yeah it would be crazy. A lot of accidents on 380, 280. Hitting big pools of water. You know tend to happen a lot. So when i moved down here to the city i expected to see a lot more accidents with the congestion on city streets. The drivers seem to do pretty well down here. Reporter now this is what people were dealing with this morning. Large pools of water. These are south in is San Francisco. When you see is puddles in the middle of a roadway, its possible as he says do not drive through them. Because what you can see is what happened. They had to shut down the offramp when the car got stuck in a large pool of water with the person stuck inside of it. It was eventually pushed off as they waited for caltrans to unclog the storm drains. The rain pelted the south bay as the storm moved south. Puddles of water around san jose. And even the areas around the santa clara Water District seemed to have more water. And leave space between your vehicle and the next. Just ask the tow truck drivers, its good advice to take because its not worth it. Cars get in it. You dont have time to react. You just have to keep your eyes on the road. Just inside the newsroom state water leaders say people in california saved less than any other month since december. It shows water use reduced by 3 compared to two years ago. The fire burned for more than an hour. This happened at midnight at San Jose De La Cruz boulevard north of the airport. The cause of that crash is still under investigation. New at 11 00, a Northern California woman and her family getting ready to fly back home from hawaii. The woman, a cancer patient, was removed from her first flight after a seemingly harms comment. Definitely a misunderstanding is the way that Alaska Airlines is characterizing a communications breakdown. Elizabeth saidway, the woman involved, she did receive an apology from the airlines but she tells us that the damage is done. She will miss this weeks chemo treatment for her multiple myeloma since she needed to start the lab work for the treatment to start wednesday and thursday but she cant because shes still in hawaii. Alaska airlines kicked sedway and her family off the flight over concerns that he was too weak to fly. While she was in the boarding area, she put on a surgical mask to protect her from two kids who had runny noses. Her white blood count was low. They asked her if she was okay but that she was weak. And a doctor said that sedway needed a doctors note which she didnt have. And she shouldnt be on the plane. And the 51yearold said she was fine. She exchanged emails with her oncologist indicating she was okay to fly. According to sedway air alaska was saying she was not okay to fly. I was crying. We were getting pulled off like we were criminals or somebody with a disease. And its a fear people need to make sure they dont lose their humanity. Reporter now in the fourth year of drought, bay area lawmakers are eyeing the ocean for solutions, wondering if we should look at Desalination Technology to remove the salt from seawater. Well definitely be asking as directly as we can, for the administration to start rapidly exploring desalination as an option. Reporter the county supervisor says while santa clara residents may not be able to see the ocean, desalination may be the option. In Southern California a small area is using an operation that purifies contaminated ground water. In 2003 five bay agencies explored desalination and even opening a small plant in pittsburg. And compare that to the 500 price tag to save the same amount of water through conservation. Removing salt from water takes a lot of energy all the energy used youre also producing Greenhouse Gas emissions. And theres also concerns about the intake of water that affects the fisheries, the fish in the bay. Reporter its one reason why the Santa Clara Valley Water District is focused on other options.
