One of the things i think President Trump has been really good on is being concerned about american jobs and not signing International Agreements that would put us at an economic disadvantage. The president who called Climate Change a hoax during the campaign did little to clarify his position. As someone who cares deeply about the environment, which i do, i cannot in good conscience support a deal that punishes the United States, which is what it does. Reporter but he did say he would be willing to negotiate the deal all over again. We will see if we can make a deal thats fair. Reporter but Global Leaders are already rejecting that call, george. They say the Paris Climate Accord is simply not up for renegotiation. Yeah, theyre not ready to do that at all. On another front we know james comey, the former fbi director, will testify next thursday. The big question on the table is the white house going to invoke executive privilege . Reporter yeah, george, next thursday all eyes will be on james comey, lawmakers eager to learn about those private conversations he had with the president , especially they want to know if the president did in fact encourage comey to drop the investigation into his fired National Security adviser, michael flynn. Now, the president could invoke his executive privilege to try and block comey from testifying. But that would be an explosive political move and one the democrats would certainly try to override. Mary bruce, thanks very much. George, now to the russia investigation and President Trumps soninlaw and top adviser Jared Kushner caught in the crosshairs. Our chief investigative correspondent brian ross is here with us and, brian, your team tracked down the russian banker who met with kushner. Reporter thats right, amy, and good morning. We have a rare glimpse of a man who could be a key figure in the fbi russia investigation. He is the banker whose secret meeting with the president s soninlaw, Jared Kushner, is now a focus. [ speaking a Foreign Language ] reporter we found him back in russia at a conference in st. Petersburg, but Sergei Gorkov trained as a spy refused to answer any questions about why he met with kushner or what they talked about. [ speaking a Foreign Language ] did you talk about american sanctions, he was asked. We have absolutely nothing to add, he said. We have a lot of meetings. The meeting under investigation took place after the election as gorkov ran the Branch Office in new york under u. S. Sanctions and came at a time that the Kushner Family was racing to raise money for its troubled real estate business. Did it involve the sanctions on the bank . Did it involve any business potentially . Reporter investigators say they want to know if kushner went to the bank for help with this troubled investment, a skyscraper on fifth avenue, the 666 building, which analysts tell abc news is 30 empty and cannot generate enough rental income to cover its huge debt. They borrowed 1. 3 billion. That loan has to be paid back in two years. Reporter the white house says the meeting between kushner and gorkov was about u. S. russia relations and arranged by the russian ambassador. The bank says, no, it was a private business discussion. This has conflict of interest written all over it. I think its a huge problem for kushner to be in a situation where his white house portfolio essentially allows him to have liaison with all sorts of corporate and financial institutions. Reporter the russian banker, gorkov, could answer many of the questions the fbi and congress are asking but as of now, hes trying hard to stay out of the spotlight. Giving us what in russian is called [ speaking a Foreign Language ] the stone wall. Kushner continues to hold a top secret clearance and work in the white house. His lawyers say that hell be glad to testify before congress and answer any questions. George. Okay, brian, thanks very much. Lets talk about it with Kellyanne Conway. Welcome back. There seems to be a discrepancy. The white house saying he was talking about russian relations, yes, russian relations, did they discussion sanctions, the russian are saying, no, this is private business. Were going to trust that. I mean, i would refer you to the comments of former acting deputy cia director mike morell. He served under president obama and said so far all he hears are media reports about what intelligence Officials Say and that its been his experience that the media often get those wrong, that theyre relying upon a chain of reporting that is im just asking you what he talked about. Well, jared, hes been willing to cooperate and hes willing to go and say what he knows, but i think theres so much speculation out there and usually gone through a negative lens. Lets give him a chance to say what he knows. Thats what i was trying to ask you. Youre not prepared to say what he was talking about right now. No. On the issue of james comey will the president invoke executive privilege or does he want former director comey to testify before congress . Well watch with the rest of the world when director comey testifies. The last time he testified unoath the fbi had to scurry to correct it. He was off by hundreds of thousands in his count, his sworn testimony count of the number of information the number of emails huma abedin allegedly sent to her husband, anthony weiner. He said there were hundreds of thousands. It turns out they were off by hundreds of thousands so the president will not invoke executive privilege. The president will make that decision, but, look, we want to refer everybody to what Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein said about james comey, because rosenste rosenstein, he has direct authority over the fbi director and he came on the job after being confirmed 946 in the u. S. Senate after serving as president obamas u. S. Attorney in maryland and coming on the job he went and looked at the investigation about the way mr. Comey handled Hillary Clintons email investigation and he concluded that it really hurt the morale and the integrity of the department. Go and read the letter. Everyone can see it. He also talked about how mr. Comey tried to usurp the justice department, and he didnt like the fact that he held a press conference. The president decided to fire him before he got that memo from rosenstein. He said he was thinking about that for awhile and that is true. He saw that testimony a few wednesdays ago, was very unimpressed. You know how the president feels about director comey and director comey in his goodbye letter to his colleagues at the fbi, george, clearly said that he has long believed a president has the right to fire an fbi director for any reason or for no reason. That is the president s right. In addition and independent of that his Deputy Attorney general whose job it is to oversee the fbi director had concluded much the same thing. He said that the morale and the integrity of the department had been compromised and one of the only things that unites people of diverse viewpoints is their dissatisfaction with the way mr. Comey handled the end of the clinton email investigation. At that time the president also suggested he had tapes of his conversations with mr. Comey. Does he have those tapes . Is he going to release them . I wont comment on that. Were just we when director comey goes to testify, i think that will be a very clarifying moment. I would repeat in his most recent sworn testimony had to be corrected almost immediately. He was off by hundreds of thousands in his projected calculation but its more important to have somebody testify under oath, frankly, than to have his friends and his former colleagues out there speaking to the media, not under oath. We will all be watching on thursday. The president says he wants to renegotiate this Paris Climate Accord. We saw the leaders of germany, france, italy, u. N. Officials say it cannot be renegotiated. So how does the president plan to do this . The president said many things yesterday. Most fundamentally the president said as he always has, george, that his first responsibility is to americans, their interest, their jobs and Economic Growth here. Why should we frontload so much of the economic burden in this agreement to the detriment of the American Worker. All the projections say that we would have a decline in some of the key sectors where men and women rely on for their livelihood, cement, paper, natural gas, coal. Why are we doing that and yet letting india and china get off scotfree . When this was originally negotiated by president obama theyre making commitments to reduce their emissions as well. Its pretty unimpressive and would go back and look because i have at many of the outcry by the environmentalists when it was originally negotiated. So many complained that this actually would not have a statistically Significant Impact on carbon Emission Reduction and yet china and india were not being forced or persuaded to conform their behavior. This is about protecting the American Worker and protecting american jobs. Final question renegotiating a better deal. Does he still believe Global Warming is a hoax . He believes in clean water, clean air and made cheer what he doesnt believe which is that the u. S. Government should stay in an agreement that gives us too much of the financial burden, too much risk to these industries where the coal miners, people who work in cement and paper, people who he looked in the eye in place after place, city after city while he was running does he believe Global Warming is a hoax . He believes in clean air, clean water, a Clean Environment and believes we have to negotiate better deals for this country and that there is a balance between Environmental Protection and Economic Growth. Patrons fearing a terrorist attack stampeding for the exits. Dozens injured in the chaos and confusion. The next i saw he started a huge fire. Then we just started running. The woman who filmed this video from a neighboring Apartment Building oh, right behind resorts world. Reporter watching as the resort went up in flames. I could see people running and i saw people trying to jump out of the window on the second floor. Reporter authorities now say it was not a terrorist attack but a casino heist gone wrong. The suspect stealing some 2. 3 million worth of casino chips. Seven long hours after the ordeal began authorities discovering the suspect took his own life. And this morning the grim death toll, at least 37 killed. Not from gunfire but from smoke inhalation. Many of the victims found in the bathroom where they hid to escape the chaos. We are still investigating and trying to ascertain why somebody would be so senseless. Mara schiavocampo here with that story. Good morning. Reporter good morning, its a shocking crime. Prosecutors say a 16yearold girl, your Typical High School student typically brutally murdering her uber driver. The suspect is not talking now facing charges as an adult being held without bail. This morning, an illinois teen facing murder charges for what officials are calling a brutal and unprovoked attack on an uber driver. 16yearold eliza wasni appearing in court after prosecutors say she attacked her uber driver with a knife and machete early tuesday for no apparent reason at all. Fatally wounding 34yearold driver grant nelson. Only two minutes or so after picking up the defendant, she begins to hack at him and stab him from the back of the seats. Reporter prosecutors say wasni called for an uber pickup at this walmart Just Outside Chicago around 3 15 Tuesday Morning after allegedly stealing a knife and machete. Surveillance video reportedly showing her leaving the store without paying for the items. After allegedly turning the weapons on her driver, he managed to escape running to a nearby Apartment Building for help. It was just help me, god help me please, im going to die at the top of his lungs. Reporter Officials Say wasni tried to flee in nelsons Hyundai Sonata but the High School Student crashed the car and ran off on foot before police say they found her hiding behind a nearby building wearing only leggings and her bra, Still Holding the machete and knife. Police saying they had to tase her to drop the weapons. Nelson was rushed to the hospital but hours later died from his injuries. Now his family is remembering him as a gentle man hoping for justice. This is a time of hart heartbreak and tremendous loss. Reporter in a statement uber says we are heartbroken by the loss of one of our partners, grant nelson. Now nearly two months after filing their divorce, garners gracing this People Magazine cover with the headline, life after heart break. The story quotes a source saying shes doing okay and this has been the most difficult decision for her but in a rare move garner is denouncing the story writing on facebook i wanted to set the record straight. I did not pose for this cover. I did not participate in or authorize this article. The wakefield star who has kept the details relatively quiet went on to write this isnt a tragedy by any measure but does affect me and my family. She admitted their marriage is hard work. Its good. It is work but its the best kind of work and theres no one id rather work with. Reporter they announced their split in 2015 a mid tabloid reports that affleck had an affair with their nanny. While on his press tour for batman versus superman, affleck spoke out about their tumultuous year on gma. So much is being said about your private life and how youve been so graceful, you and jennifer, in talking about it. Whats been the most difficult part about this past year . You know, we just sort of put the kids first. She works very hard and shes great with the kids and we put them first and take it one step at a time and do our best. Reporter affleck has struggled with his own personal demons, revealing in march he completed treatment for alcohol addiction. And people quotes an anonymous source saying garner was willing to work with him on his problems not only for the sake of the children but because she loved him but realized it wasnt going to get better. This morning garner is getting her final word, i have three wonderful kids and my family is complete, for what its worth. People magazine says the story is fair and truthful and wish her well. As for the urgency, amy, garner says she needed to squash this before her moms garden club starts lighting up her phone. Got to get ahead of that. Diane, thank you so much. I mean, as someone who is just looking at that magazine i 100 would think she sat down and posed for that picture and sat down with People Magazine. Whats your take on the back and forth . Its a very interesting curious story. Jennifer garner has been written about hundreds and hundreds of times in stories that she did not participate in. Your piece right there which chronicled her life with ben affleck she didnt participate in that. This is not unknown to her so the idea she would react against this and say that she didnt authorize the story is a very, very strange thing. Celebrities dont have to authorize anything. People write about celebrities, president s, you know, sports figures without their authorization. What i think is going on here is not about the People Magazine story because she takes no issue with whats said in the story, i have a feeling what i suspect is going on is that she and ben have made a pact in the middle of a divorce and said they will not talk about the kids, go to the press, or air their laundry, and she was concerned that he would have the perception that she did participate in the story and that she was getting a leg up in the negotiations and was somehow trying to maneuver what was going on between them in the divorce and she wanted to make it clear too him that she had nothing to do with this. This is not a message to the public but a message to ben affleck and his camp she did not participate in this story. Maybe also a message to People Magazine because she probably was upset because it looked like she participated in it willingly. If you look at the photo it looked like she posed for something but not People Magazine. Isnt that misleading with that picture like that and that cover the way it is . No, weve done hundreds and hundreds of stories like this. You get the best picture you can. People magazine is trying to convey the idea of intimacy as any magazine is whether you put donald trump on a cover or tiger woods on a cover or Julia Roberts on a cover, youre trying to convey the idea when you come to the magazine you will find out something you didnt know before. The story is completely clear they did not speak to her and she didnt participate in it. This has been tried and true at People Magazine for many, many years so if the magazine is conveying the idea of intimacy then theyre guilty but there is nothing on that cover that suggests she participated. I once did a cover with Jessica Simpson many years ago where i put a quote on the cover she had said to someone else, she didnt say it to us, and i got internally in trouble for that. Because there arent quotes on there she doesnt say Jennifer Garner told us. It says Jennifer Garner, life after heartbreak and its a beautiful picture of Jennifer Garner. Lets remember also that Jennifer Garners career and success is based on the admiring coverage of people like People Magazine which she doesnt take issue with it. At costco . Scouring the internet, costco bjs offer travel services for paying members. The reason these Big Box Stores can offer amazing travel deals is because they have so many members, Companies Want to sell to them. Reporter first costco offers hotel deals on hyatt and best western rooms only so at the hyatt in san francisco, costco was 27 cheaper per night. Thats 10 less than the four travel aggregator sites we checked and 10 cheaper then than booking directly with the hotel. Bjs is a little different. They listed the same rate as the travel site but threw in a bjs gift card. That amounted to about a 5 price reduction off the travel sites. If you check the fine print you might find that the packages sold to Big Box Stores come with lots of free bonuses. Reporter bjs did come out cheapest on car rentals. 17 less than the travel aggregators while costco was 13 cheaper than the travel sites but you can also save when you build a trip with car, hotel and flights. On a trip to maui including airfare, car and a specific hotel, costco was 4 cheaper than the travel sites we checked saving a total of 282. On the same exact package, bjs was 3 cheaper than the travel sites saving us 186. Again, in the form of a gift card rebate. But a few caveats. Make sure you want to take that vacation at exactly that time. If you have to change anything, it could prove costly. Reporter our research was by no means comprehensive and checked a few trips in a few cities and finally its not just Big Box Stores offering deals. Open your wallet and look at the other membership cards in there. Youll be astonished how many travel benefits are offered for free by companies or organizations you already pay to belong to.
