Here he was talking about Bernie Sanders. It was a healthy thing for the Democratic Party to have a contested primary. I thought that Bernie Sanders brought enormous energy and new ideas, he pushed the party and challenged them. I thought it made hillary a better candidate. You see there a nice big arm around Bernie Sanders as hes ushering him out of the race. Pushing him in the hall now you need to do what you need to do in the course of this. I think this meeting with president obama is a big thing. Bernie sanders taking the meeting is basically the beginning of an indication hell come on board and needs to do it in his time. No question about that, right . I dont think theres any question. To have Bernie Sanders combined with barack obama and the course of this election is going to give Hillary Clinton a big lift. Yeah, because right now shes only getting 75 , 80 of the democratic votes and this should pop it up to 90 . That is a big thing in the polling. Meantime, the republicans still trying to figure out how to handle donald trump. Paul ryan, as you saw, saying hes made this racist comment but im going to endorse him. Telling his house members to endorse him as well. I was surprised to see donald trump said yesterday he was surprised and disappointed by ryans comments. I think paul ryan and many others are in this really difficult spot because they know Donald Trumps behavior and watched his behavior and hasnt always as we said been positive. Donald trump committed a series of personal fouls in the course of the primary. The thing that happened with the judge was a flagrant foul and i think republicans watching this are thinking does he have another flagrant foul in him. If he does, you know what happens when you get two, you are out of the game. Some talk amongst some republicans maybe they can find a way at the convention to block him from getting the nomination. Realistic. Thats not going to happen. He has over 1,500 delegates and more votes than anybody has ever gotten in the course of this. As a republican nominee. If that would happen it would be a bigger rift in the party. Theyll have to hold their nose go along with this and accept everything donald trump does in the course of the next 152 days. That breaking news overseas. A deadly terror attack. At least four People Killed when two gunmen opened fire at a crowded Shopping Mall in tel aviv. Both attackers are in custody. This attack struck the heart of tel aviv shattering a summer evening out at one of the citys most popular destinations. [ sirens ] mayhem inside an israeli restaurant. Two palestinian gunmen opening fire, surveillance cameras capturing the chaos, people running for their lives as bullets fly setting off a stampede for the exits. The gunmen dressed in dark suits reportedly disguised as Orthodox Jews moving from table to table shooting diners killing four and injuring five. Israeli forces arriving on the scene minutes after. Firing back. You can see this officer taking down one of the suspects. This morning both gunmen are in custody one being treated for a gunshot wound, the two have now been identified as palestinian cousins from the west bank. Israeli military are patrolling the streets and they raided the homes of the suspects sealing off their town. And the government has now revoked work and travel permits for thousands of palestinians during the holy month of ramadan. This is a savage crime, a murder, and terrorism in the heart of tel aviv. In their presentencing memo to the judge, prosecutors said the former olympic hopeful convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman at the stanford campus last year was, quote, drinking excessively and using drugs before he enrolled at the school. In a letter to the judge during sentencing turner partly blamed his actions on the Party Culture at stanford. His lawyers telling the judge the teen from a small town in ohio never used any illicit drugs but prosecutors say they dug up a trove of pictures like these from his cell phone, photos of bongs, that pipe and dozens of Text Messages in which the swim star brags about drinking. This spring millions watched the fx mini series the people v. O. J. Simpson. If i dont talk it looks like i have something to hide. Reporter now there is a brandnew documentary from espn, o. J. made in america telling what may be the definitive story from the lawyer, jurors, friend, all a part of it beginning with o. J. s meteoric rise to fame as football star and pitchman. Hes plucked out of the black community, out of black consciousness and hes submerged in an all white university. Reporter the film chronicle s the rise and fall of the hall of famer, that initial shock of his arrest. It was quite surprising. Your exhusband is always a suspect in a case. Reporter and delves into the lapd and Race Relations and how that was used by the defense like when the jury was brought to see his house. We could call his white friends down and all of these black people out, pictures he probably had never seen before. Because thats what we were told the jury would identify with. The defense teams job would tell you is to use all the arrows in their quiver. If we had a latin jury we would have had a picture of a sombrero. There would have been a mariachi band out front. We would have had a pinata at the upper staircase. Reporter in the end, what does the films director think . Did o. J. Do it . The last thing i want to do is take away from the greater message of the film which is honestly trying to hear from all sides and to understand why all this stuff happened. Both the crime itself potentially but also sort of why everyone lost their minds in the case in 1994 95 and why the verdict was what it was. It premieres this saturday on abc and then continues tuesday night on espn and, george, i know you have even more. Very special guest here. I know it took a lot of convincing for you to be part of this documentary. You said no twice . Right. What finally convinced you . My son. Ezra, the director, had contacted me and had a number of conversations with me and i continued to say no as i have for 21 years. But it was my son who said, dad, its time for you to speak. No one knows the facts that you know and i think you can really trust ezra to do a professional job. Youve said even you learned something about the case from this documentary. I certainly did. It gave me chills. What did you learn . I did learn. I learned a few things. I wont spoil it all for everyone but the one thing i did learn, for example, chris darden, marcia clark were never supposed to ask o. J. To try on the glove. It probably had been working out his hand developing muscles in his hand and we knew it would shrink. It had been in the elements. Its leather. What we didnt know until i saw it on this film was that o. J. Simpson was taking arthritic medication for his hands and he was told if you stop taking this arthritic medication, your hands will swell, your joints will stiffen. My god. You know, lawyers are supposed to do everything to defend their clients. Is that crossing the line . No, no, i dont think it is. Did it tick me off i would use a different word. Yes, it did, but i cant say its really crossing the line. They did everything in their power, they got away with a lot. But we were baited into perhaps even having them try on the glove in the first place. It was never supposed to happen. Thats something that shouldnt have happened. Youve also been fairly tough on marcia clark saying she wasnt your choice. Marcia is a fabulous lawyer but i picked bill hodgman as lead prosecutor. He had all the talent characteristics i felt necessary for this particular case. And when you look back at all that, i think youre coming to the realization this was always going to be a tough case and maybe one that was not winnable. Didnt feel that it was not winnable. We knew wed win the case. Once we had the jury we had, we knew we werent going to get a guilty verdict in the first case. We expected a hung jury and then the what the sympathy towards o. J. Simpson would dissipate and we knew wed find more evidence specifically the bruno magli shoes he claimed he never owned. What did you learn about what this said about the state of Race Relations, not only in los angeles but in america . That it was much deeper and it had a vibrant chord, especially in the black community than i expected. I dont know if you know the story about me reaching out to president carter. No. In the middle of the trial im trying to figure out, all right, what do i say as a good ceo with the lawyers if, in fact, there is a guilty verdict which we didnt expect. I knew what to say. A hung jury i knew what to say and expected that but i really didnt know what to say if it was a not guilty verdict. Horrible for Race Relations in the country as a whole. My staff couldnt come up with anything. I convened a group of 30 black ministers and they said, oh, hes guilty, gil, dont worry about it. Theyll convict him. They came up with zero. Jimmy carter was coming into town, habitat for humanity so i reached out to him, mr. President , can i meet with you about the o. J. Simpson case . Sure. Meet me in this Little Community call city called linwood. I went out there. He took off his carpenters belt. We went into a little room by ourselves. He heard my scenarios and he looked at me and, george, it was like getting coldcocked in the stomach. He said, gil, theyre coming back not guilty. I react like you react. Boom. He was so sure of this and he said, of course he did it. We all know he did it but hes not a street thug and you and i know hes not a danger now to anyone else and many innocent black men have been convicted. Some executed, this is payback time. Wow. The company that makes tommy tippy sippy spillproof cups offering free replacements because, yes, mold could collect in hard to clean valves. Experts say any bath toy and any sippy cup can become a breeding ground for bacteria and mold, and guess what, abcs Mara Schiavocampo here to just test some of those toys. This is one that hits very close to home. Yes. We tested dozens of bath toys and sippy cups that were sent in by our viewers. Our findings shocked even our expert with cups and toys in some cases as dirty as a toilet bowl. Bath toys and sippy cups, some of a toddlers favorite things. Cheese. Reporter but with near constant exposure to a wet environment just how clean are they . This is a constant worry for me. Reporter we decided to find out. Gma investigates testing more than 50 items. Susan whittier of new yorkpresbyterian Columbia University Medical Center tested the sippy cups and bath toys for bacteria and mold. 100 of the bathtub toys and the sippy cups grew bacteria. It was a surprise. Reporter more than 25 of the sippy cups grew fecal bacteria. The health risk is probably minimal, but it is just gross to think about. Hi, laura. Hi. Im mara. Good to see you. One thing we tested was your sons sippy cups. You said you would be surprised if we found anything in there because you clean them really well. I would be surprised. Get ready to be surprised. We found fecal bacteria. Are you kidding . How is that possible . Reporter for the bath toys, we tested ones made of rubber, foam and plastic. The rubber toys were the dirtiest. Two tested positive for mold including this frog. Check out the insides. Theyre completely black. If they were to ingest that, you know, its unpredictable. They could have an allergic reaction to it. Remember your frog toy . This is all mold. Wow. And then theres my favorite, the santa claus. Ew. This is what was inside santa. It looks like hair was growing. Right, it looks like algae of some sort. Reporter what should parents do . Our expert says clean bath toys with disinfectant wipes and rinse once a week. For sippy cups make sure they can be completely disassembled and clean them in the dishwasher on high heat and manufacturers say always let cups and toys dry completely. Now, the bacteria we found only poses a Minimal Health risk in kids with a healthy immune system, things like a skin infection maybe if there is a break in the skin and they get some of that water on it so we actually brought in some toys. These are mine in the interest of fair play because i didnt want to pick on just our viewers and sara is here because we really like new parents. So scared right now. This one i just brought in. Got it this morning. This guy is a year old. Never cleaned him. This is your daughters bath toy . My daughters bath toy and all black inside. So now i feel like maybe shes dirtier coming out of the bath than going in. I know. I know. You have to throw those things away after a while. You have to replace them. Mara, thank you so much. For these young, inexperienced drivers, summer can be very dangerous with more teene driving at night and possibly speeding and for young people driving with other teen passengers, the fatal crash rate goes up by 44 . James winer, who i did four films with, our fearless director, theres nobody better in the business than him, honestly, and i think what makes him so skilled is not just the way he can craft a scare, but the love that he has for character because within all if you think about it, all the great horror movies, scary movie, theyve all got relationships, theyve got a husband and wife relationship, a devoted family, a single mother and her kids so a lot of human elements going on that i think thats what people really gravitate towards. And you have that whole element of is this an actual true event because well, theres that too. Because this is based on one of the most documented hauntings ever in london and i think that also makes people think, oh, my gosh, this might have actually happened. It does. The unexplained is certainly very interesting to a lot of people and when youre dealing with religion and the flip side of that, thats pretty scary stuff and this was they sort of referred to it as englands amityville. I mean, this was the most documented case, paranormal case in british history. So its a nice way for us to sort of get the warrens out of america and see how they do, fish out of water over in england and you see it really is on par with amityville as far as its importance in that community. Agreed, and does this movie scare you when you watch it . You know, yes, there are several moments that do. Most of the things that scare most people dont because we, of course, shot them, but in the premiere the other night he got me a few times. Make sure that we delivered a big action movie that had great comedy but also has a message that when the audience left hopefully they left floating because theyre happy but open up dialogue about bullying. I was bullied when i was in Junior High School and the overall message about kids and weve been talking to kids all across the country about this, about bullying is the key with bullying is to communicate because not everybody has the gumption to hit a bully back or be physical but what you want to do is communicate to your teachers, to your counselor, to your principal, to your brothers, to your sister, parents, somebody. Ultimately what we want to do is action is taken and the bullying stops. Absolutely. And now your name in the movie is bob but when i was a teenager my name was bob which mean booty on back because i had a big butt just so you know. And you became super bowl champion. Yeah. Eventually. It inspired me as i think it did you, as well. Yes. Youre doing it with one of the funniest men on the planet. I watch you on instagram when you send out all your stuff from junkets. Is it as fun as it looks to work with him every day . Let me tell you something, brother, kevin is as advertised, right. Kevin is the biggest comedic rock star on the planet but the best thing about kevin and we talked about this earlier about ego is hes the kind of guy, hes the kind of movie star that checks his ego at the door because he just wants to make a good movie. I did not stop laughing on this movie. So, by the way, what we do on social media, instagram, snapchat, twitter, thats real. So that chemistry that we have is in the movie too and were ultra competitive. By the way oh, no doubt. If he does something good, i got to do it better and vice versa.
