The mercury news is reporting the Transportation Authority and the city of san jose just approved doing a study that will examine whether its possible to create flex lanes on the corridor between 85 and 101. The paper says the study will see if its feasible to remove the two emergency lanes on each side of the highway to make room for the flex lane, and then it would shift back to a regular shoulder the rest of the time. A decision whether to require a toll wouldnt be made until the study determines if the lane would fit. 225,000 has been approved for the study and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
