He opened fire inside the pulse nightclub in orlando on june 12 of last year. Killing 49 people. Salman is charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting her husband, who was killed by police. Shes being charged with aiding and abetting and materially aiding the criminal act so she could be prosecuted, in essence, as a principal, as if she were the person who went to the nightclub. Salman accompanied mateen on at least one trip to a gun shop when he bought ammunition. She could face a maximum sentence of liech in prison on the death penalty. She is here in the dublin jail but will be taken to oakland today to make that first court appearance. She is being held because authorities believe she helped her husband with that attack in june in that orlando gay nightclub where 49 people were killed. There are two accounts of noor salman. The fbi believes she knew of her husbands plans to carry out the violent attack. She has said she was abused by her husband and she did not know what he planned to do. Authorities arrested her yesterday morning and her parents home in rodeo in the east bay. Once those charges are unsealed we will know more about how serious the accusations are against her. If its aiding and abetting after the fact as an accessory, the maximum sentence she could receive is up to 15 years. Reporter her attorney issued this statement. Noor salman had no foreknowledge, nor could she predict what omar mateen intended to do that tragic night. Noor has told her story of abuse at his hands. We believe it is misguided and wrong to prosecute her and that it dishonors the memories of the victims to punish an innocent person. One neighbor in rodeo told us they feel bad for the little boy.
