San Francisco Police arrested a homeless man for carjacking an elderly man. Police say an 85yearold man was loading groceries into his car when the man jumped in the drivers seat and took off. Later police pulled over a vehicle in San Francisco. Turns out it was the stolen car. 27yearold matthew was arrested on multiple felony charges. That gun fire erupted during pride festival last weekend. And today san Francisco Police say they have arrested a suspect. A Street Vendor was wounded early saturday evening. Members of the Gang Task Force captured the man. The fourth of july is just a couple of days away. Today Oakland Police conducted what may be the biggest fireworks raid with a street value of 50,000 mere the coliseum. Abc 7 News Reporter Lyanne Melendez joins us from the fire station with the details. Reporter just wanted to mention this is one of six fire stations here in oakland where you can drop off your fireworks no questions asked. According to the Fire Department todays raid was especially significant given our drought situation. This is the largest confiscation we have seen. Reporter oakland firefighters and police were so amazed by the amount of fireworks found in this basement they tweeted a picture of what they confiscated. We are looking approximately at about 50,000 worth of street value. Reporter this morning oakland pds special Investigative Unit raided this house on 82nd avenue. There were so many containers that the bomb squad had to use more than one pickup truck to haul them out. Police were surprised to find out there were three children living in the house. Highly explosive. If there is a heat source that ignited this we are looking at Single Family residence small children in the neighborhood with Apartment Buildings. Reporter two men were arrested. They face felony charges for each firework collected. The majority of those fireworks in the basement are the fireworks that go into the air. As we all know we have serious drought conditions. Reporter the raid came as a total surprise to randall who lives next door. I had no idea that was sitting next door. None. No clue at all. Im shocked. Reporter investigators would not say what led them to the house but other neighbors say they had seen some activity in recent days. They came by in trucks and in cars and walking and buying fireworks. They have been shooting them for the last week. Reporter firefighters will schedule a burn day to get rid of them. In oakland, Lyanne Melendez, abc 7 news. A judge denied a request today from the contractor who built the Apartment Building where a balcony collapsed in berkeley killing six people. Attorneys for the contractor argued that a restraining order should be issued against the District Attorneys Office during todays brief hearing in oakland. The contractor wanted to have a representative present when evidence is tested. At this critical point in investigating they wanted to participate in the investigation that is to be done by those who have the authority and that is the District Attorneys Office. In addition to the people who died the tragedy injured seven others most visiting the bay area for the summer. One of the survivors shared pictures via facebook as she continues to recover. Her family says she is facing her recovery with quote courage and determination. A 20yearold man is recovering after falling between 60 to 70 feet from a tree. Abc 7 news was near the university of santa cruz as emergency crews responded at empire drive. Firefighters say the victim never lost consciousness but did suffer fractures. Significant lower leg injuries but the rest of him looks to be in pretty good shape. Very lucky. This happened late this afternoon. The victim was taken to Stanford Medical Center for treatment. Officials say the man was with a group of people when he fell. Investigators are looking into how a sheriffs boat sank near bay point. It happened near 9 20 when Officials Say the boat took on water quickly. The engine failed and the boat started to stink. It was about a football field away from the closest shore. Deputies swam to shore and were not hurt. If you are headed out of the bay area for the long weekend leave as soon as you can. Take a look at the traffic right now.
