A womans shoe jammed an escalator triggering a chain of events that caused long delays for riders this morning. The shoe put the escalator out of service when passengers piled on to another escalator the added weight broke the second one. The two out of service escalators caused major crowding at the station. It was so bad some trains had to bypass the embarcadero entirely. The escalator damage d by the shoe has been fixed. The other one, though, is still out of service.
