You know, this was our only chance. Unlike other cases when you sue another state when one state sues another in this case we ended up with seven states suing four, our only place to go is the u. S. Supreme court to be heard, so normally, wed be able to go to the District Court and have our case heard. In this case we asked the Supreme Court to hear our case and we never got that opportunity. Maria i wonder what your analysis is on this , because the Supreme Court said that you have no standing. What do you read into texas having no standing to make this case . I dont know, because if my people are harmed, which i view them as having been harmed by the fact that other states didnt follow their election laws and didnt follow the constitution, how do i address the fact that my voters are affected by a National Election that potentially was not done correctly where there was fraud and state law and federal law was not followed, so you know, i dont know what else we could have done other than asked the court to at least hear our arguments. Maria so tell me about that argument, because i know Justice Alito and thomas wanted to hear it. They thought you had, you thought you had good momentum. Look at everybody who supported you, 18 states with briefs supporting the case, six states joined the case, you had support of 126 house republicans. Make the case right here, a. G. And youre right we had tremendous momentum and that was only we filed this monday at almost midnight so that was after only three or four days of the case being filed, and there was tremendous support and there was tremendous interest in hearing the answer, hearing the arguments so the argument was pretty simple. These states are responsible, per the constitution, the state legislatures responsible for setting up laws as it relates to electors and when those laws are deviated from by local officials, they violated state law and they violated the u. S. Constitution. That, in fact, disenfranchises my voters because we, in texas, follow those laws and now, were subjected to the fact that maybe , you know, in pennsylvania , for instance it went from 233,000 mailin ballots four years ago to 2. 5 million and they, a lot of those were not signature verified so we dont know if any of those ballots were fraudulent and we cant go back and check. Maria so the bottom line is youre supposed to check signatures with the signature that the election board has an file. Once you separate the ballot from the envelope, then, its really hard to prove, are you expecting were going to be dealing with this issue come january for the Georgia Senate race . You know i am concerned about that because now the precedent has been set and because of covid they relaxed outside of state law requirements a lot of these states relaxed their signature verification so youre right. When you apply for a mailin ballot you have to sign an application. When you fill out the ballot you have to put it in an envelope, sign that and they are supposed to verify that those two signatures match. For some reason, and i dont know why covid would eliminate that requirement for som
