Whats happening in those citie and about his coronavirus with Chris Wallace. We have a preview of that is where we could get off tonight with the latest on the president s president s law and order strategy with kevin gort. Chris wallace challenge the president about his as his presumptive atonement in november, biden who wants to defund the police. You have seen gaps in the art , shootings, deaths up, how do you clean it and what are yo going to do about it . Eggs lane it simply by sayin they are democrat run cities, they are liberally run, stupidl run for it get liberal democrat have been running cities in these country for years. Poorly. Whys it so bad now . They have run them poorly, now its really gotten out of control because they want to defund the police. He signed a charter with ernie sanders. He said nothing about Defunding Police. It says abolish. Get me they charter, please,. Actually, wallace was right, and bidens Campaign Says it does not support Defunding Police efforts, however the candidates own words let him open to criticism that he does. You should recall in an interview with activists on now this, he said yes, absolutely when he was asked if he agreed that some Police Funding should be redirected. Here is what the Trump Campaign had to say about that. They said President Trump is 100 percent correct in his assessment that joe biden would defund the police. They go on to say the media as bending over backwards, he clearly stated he would yes absolutely redirect funding awa from the police to other budget areas. This is cutting or defunding th police by any definition. That from the Trump Campaign team. On to capitol hill with the summit set to come back to washington on monday, lawmakers gearing up to intensify their old obama era investigations. In what a lot of people believe may be a precursor, Lindsey Graham today released to declassify documents tied to th russia probe including notes that are suggesting that the fb was skeptical of reports about contact between the Trump Campaign and russian intelligence officials in early 2017. It obviously took a long time t try to work this all out, but clearly this is a major story, something that we will keep a close eye on in particular when the senate makes its way back home to the hill next week. Back to you. We also await the john durha reports, we are all standing by. Kevin, thank you. The former middle School Principal has toppled 16 term incumbent democrat eliot engel in the congressional primary. Correspondent welland bitterroo is showing as. Pulled off this upset. Shannon, President Trump as taking notice, he and republicans are continuing to pound away at joe biden as too liberal, as out of touch with the center of america as being pulled left by the most radical in his party. Tonight there is new evidence b the tally in the race you just talked about, of just how far left the Democratic Party is moving. In ordinary times, he wouldnt even have a primary challenger in his heavily blue district. Hes been in congress 30 to years, but these arent ordinar times. Middle School Principal jamaal brown just beat him in the democratic primary by doubledigit spirit im a black man who was raised by a single mother in a Housing Project he tweeted. That story doesnt usually end in congress. Today that 11 yearold boy who was beaten by police is about t be your next representative. Pretty cool he tweeted about a teacher with him along with members of the squad the foremost progressive women in congress. Along them, omar who faces a primary challenge herself and her challenger raised 3. 2 million against her. Bernie sanders tweeted omar is woman of incredible strength, w need her leadership in congress im pleased to endorse her campaign for reelection. President trump thinks he can exploit the vocal left for his own political gain. The radical left are trying to impose the same system socialism plus in america, bide is a puppet, bernie sanders, aoc , the militants left, the people who want to rip down statue spread. As they wish to reopen schools, biden put out his own plan. Schools and Childcare Center need funds so they can implemen the changes they need to make t buy the protective equipment fo the staff and children to ensur opera ventilation, to upgrade Broadband Technology appeared. If i was president i would b sending a funding bill right no to Congress Today at. Backing congress and other member of the squad, is reportedly pushing a billionaires tax to help fill new york states upside down coffers of proposal so liberal, that Governor Andrew Cuomo rejected it because it would ru the ultraleft that our left in new york out. Well, hes got a point. Welland, thank you very much. Good to see you. Man arrested for attacking a ne York City Police lieutenant, chief of department has been released from jail without bail. He has accused of assaulting three officers on wednesday. When protesters violently clashed with police marchers on the brooklyn bridge. Im very unhappy about that. It does not make sense to me. Its very frustrating. I think the world at times righ now seems like its upside down. A second suspect in the attack as being held on 10,000 bail. For to weeks after joining the Biting Campaign as a video producer, zero corollas in hot water tonight for a couple of tweets last month marking polic officers and calling for defunding them. This urged people to stop calling the police quote pigs only because highly intelligent and empathetic animals would never racially profile you. She called for the defunding of police, a position the campaign claimed biden does not support, so lets talk about it all. Richard fowler and centers for american liberty founder, dylan its great to have you both wit us tonight at. Great day be here. At lets talk there about th staffer, rick grenell, response to the story that ran about thi saying joe biden cant stand up to his supporters or staff who are calling to defund the police. The Biden Campaign didnt respond when given the chance. Why wouldnt they immediately say, of course we dont support this. It seems like hes trying to walk a careful line with this issue of saying that he is not for defunding the police, but there is more to the story. For one thing i think its correct to question him because he has absolutely gone out and embraced redirecting funds to other resources. So he is basically amd vessel that the left as projecting all of its most extreme vision on and he is willing to carry that forward. I think its absolutely correct to pen those words to the principle which is joe biden. He is not the same joe biden voters are saying we want candidates who believe black lives matter and policies that reflect that black lives matter. Thank you very much for a have great weekend. They are telling us the officer were their temperate tech the processors and allow them to their First Amendment rights. They turned on police throwing projectiles, firecrackers and cans of exploding liquid. They say police were ambushed. The beer very elitist tonight o all the controversy over federa involvement in portland and beyond. You know, there are a lot of critics who say federal officer have no business in portland. In response, the port departmen of Homeland Security released the list of what they call wallace destruction and violenc against agents and property allegedly committed every night for the past seven weeks. They say violent anarchy is saved destroyed fencing, graffiti buildings, sparked fireworks and attacked officers with a hammer, rocks, paint filled balloons, lasers, insuli shots among other crimes. Authority say thats what led t the attention of the suspect thats drawn a lot of attention. The feds say that they suspecte of assaulting and saving some property and they had to move them because of the liars and violent mob was nearby. Portlands mayor and oregons governor are they say the dhs customs and border protections agents and u. S. Marshals are escalating an already tense situation and arent welcome there anymore. The Governor Kate Brown only to be told to leave. Governor brown tweeted i told acting secretary wolf that the federal government should remov all federal officers from our streets. His response showed me he is on a mission to provoke confrontation for political purposes. Democratic oregon senator tweeted at President Trump get your dhs lackey and unveiled it paramilitary actions out of my state. Our communities are not the stage for your twisted reelection campaign. The u. S. Attorney for oregon says hes calling for an investigation into the constitutionally and questionable arrest by federal agencies and the agency just filed a lawsuit against the fed this afternoon. Customs and Border Patrol say violence and criminal actions will not be tolerated so it appears those officers are not going anywhere in the confrontations and detentions will likely continue until an eight week in portland. Rick, thank you for getting us up to speed on that here is how one portland the crackdown by federal officers to the Washington Post saying this, i was terrified. It seemed like it was out of a horror scifi movie. It was like being preyed upon. Lets talk about this, the continuing chaos in portland under control with journalist and author and former Deputy Assistant general, good to have both of you with this. Hey, shannon parrott. Thank you for having me on. This has been going on, i believe we are on our 50th night. And he, even there, even in the midst of it preyed folks are saying its like they say peopl who are protesters who arent doing anything wrong are being abducted by federal authorities. Can you tell liz anything like this are what you saw when you were there on the ground . No, that is an antifa talking. That is being repeated. All federal Law Enforcement agencies will have unmarked vehicles so they can do surveillance and discrete arrests of people who are evading arrest, right . So its no surprise and its quite obvious they would use unmarked vehicles to discreetly pull up to violent criminal suspects and arrest them with minimal or no force. The reason why people are bringing this up as a distraction as because its quite effective. The federal Law Enforcement has made numerous arrests in a shor time in the city of portland an they are bringing serious charges. Charges of assault against Law Enforcement, destruction of federal property, and this is just an antifa talking points. So the aclu is suing over this tonight for their suing dh in the u. S. Marshals service also. What are their lingam interim director say they are terrorizing the community, risking lives, and brutally attacking protesters break the federal agents must be stopped and removed from our city. They say that this is unconstitutional and the feds have no place there. What does the law say . That sounds more like a pres release than a legal complaint. There is nothing wrong with federal agencies arresting people if those people are suspected of carrying out federal crimes. Here or there are several that might be at stake, you have accounts of protesters attackin federal agents, attacking federal buildings, or they may be trying to interfere with the execution of federal law. It doesnt matter whether the city mayor or the governor of the state wants federal officials out, if the federal government is engaged in enforcing federal law they had the right to be there. My understanding for reading th account of the protesters he wa whisked away and taken to a federal courthouse where he was read his miranda rights, he refused to waive them, then he was released. If thats what happened, i don see what case the aclu has to claims that his Constitutional Rights were violated. How do you see this ending . Its been weeks and weeks and weeks of this. The feds are there, that seems to have made some difference, but folks are still showing up and protesting. Federal police will bring some law and order back to the areas around federal property. Unfortunately, the rest of the city that is under the control of Portland Police and the city council, the unrest will continue. Currently what im seeing from the portland mayor as hes blaming trump and dhs for his own failure to be able to stop for violence. He is blaming them for inciting violence, but hes not mentioning that we have five weeks of daily violence before federal Law Enforcement showed up in numbers. John, quickly before we go. The white house has teased out with their calling a big announcement next week, the president is kind of hinted at this dealing with potentially the feds going into some of these cities having real trouble. What actions will be on the table do you think . As we talked on the show, theres always troops in the flaw in order completely breaks down. I think what they have in mind as surging, federal researches, to certain hotspots, using federal law especially against interstates crimes, especially drug gains like ms 13 and entities like that and trying t use the federal resources and going to federal court to put those people away for longer sentences. We will watch, john and andy stay safe. Thank you both. My pleasure. President trump weighs in on the great mask debate and breaking news next. I should get a quote. Do it. They touch on a wide range of topics including the controversial issue of masks an orders mandating them. Do you regret not wearing a mask in public from the start and would you consider, will yo consider a National Mandate tha people need to wear masks . I want people to have a certain freedom and i dont believe in that. I dont agree with the statemen that if everybody were amassed, everything disappears. Doctor fauci said dont wear a mask our Surgeon General saint dont wear a mask. Everybody all of a sudden everybody has to wear a mask. With that being said, im a believer in masks, i think mask are good. Lifts discord, the state of the pandemic. Great to have you both with the spirit. Hi, shannon parrott. I want to start because ther has been a lot of positive news when it comes to vaccines varie promising results so far it tonight i read from a molecular biologist and a director of Quantitative Biosciences Institute saying i dont see vaccine coming anytime soon. People have antibodies, but th antibodies are weaning quickly. As antibodies diminish, theres a good chance the immunity from a vaccine would wane too. What should be a realistic hope when it comes to this vaccine . First of all, i dont agree with this statement because thats only one small study he looking at about antibodies weaning. What happened in the hospital t patients we have seen that don make antibodies at all, they have actually gotten better commit which means its more than just antibodies going on here. It is something called t cells, its developing an immunity. Three of the vaccine candidates this week, there was tremendous great news that they not only made antibodies, but they seem to cause immunity. Oxford university has that is showing a really robust immunity. Whats left is to test it on 30,000 people in each case over the next several months, but this is way ahead of schedule and we could conceivably see a vaccine emerge by the end of th year or maybe even more than one. Im optimistic about this and s are several scientists that are researching it. People need optimism, so the needed about the economy too. Lets dive into this usa today opinion piece. The president and ceo for the they are not fans of President Trump, they say when it came to the sink to the single most important economic decision of his presidency who push to reopen the economy with no ability to contain outbreak has made our economic suffering worse and that decision as on him. Steve . That it simply falls on the facts varied we know from the states that have the strictest lockdowns, it states like new york, new jersey come up my hom state of illinois, states like pennsylvania, michigan, rhode island, theyve had death rates 510 times higher than states that didnt lock down their economy. There is no evidence that lockdowns to the economy had an positive effect in terms of reducing deaths from coronavirus. The more important point as i certainly hope that the doctor is right because if you are a doctor then it looks really positive for the economy come this fall. We have seen to really good months of excellent data that surprised everybody including myself and im an optimist abou how many jobs have come back. We saw a sell really good numbers this week on manufacturing, industrial output , and also consumers are spending. If we can get this fire is contained, as the doctor is talking about, i think the fall will be a blockbuster period fo the economy. Inputs trump in good shape for november. The world would breathe an enormous sigh of relief. Doctor Anthony Fauci says he an people have to get it together. I was looking at the data and taking the area in florida were my parents live, and the age of the average covid 19 case that is being diagnosed has gone way down. They are in the 20s now in a lot of areas. Doctor fauci had this morning for young people though. You have to have responsibility for yourself. But also a societal responsibility that you are getting infected is not just yo in a vacuum. You are propagating a pandemic. How do you convince young people who dont personally fee worried that theyre going to b one of these rare cases, and they just go on about their lives. First of all, you have to be consistent. You cant see one type of gathering is okay, but another isnt. And dr. V7 has had one of the reasons all of this is happenin as because the lockdowns were s severe that people are now just rebelling. That is to steves point that the lockdowns didnt really work. Thirdly, i think what we really need as a laser approach here. Why didnt we reopen the bars for example . Those phases that we had or phases of reopening, some of them made no sense whatsoever. I cant from a Public Health point of you ever understand wh bars were on the list. People congregate there, they shout, theyre not paying any attention, and theres no good ventilation. Of course its going to spread there. There are things on the list that should have been on the list, but we dont need huge lockdowns as steve says. Quick final words. Thats exactly right, we should be smart enough what were opening and what were not agree with you thats going int a crowded bar, with poor ventilation is probably a stupi idea, but getting our businesse reopened, and incidentally, wha about the schools . We cant have a functioning economy in the fall if he dont have are schools open in a safeway. That will be a big decision coming. Parents need their kids back so they can go back to work. , thank you both. Thank you. With this pandemic, safety is even more important to make sure we go home safe every single day. Time now for night court. We begin with a case of a 15 yearold girl from detroit sen to juvenile detention by a judg for not doing her Online School work. Demonstrators in birmingham michigan protesting that decision. Graduated with a lot of children on probation, kids on probation that went to michigan and didnt do their schoolwork and went to michigan. The difference between them and grace is that they were white and they were rich and they could export expensive lawyers. At night court is now in session with tonights legal eagles welcome to you both. Hi, shannon. Hey, shannon parrott. There is more to this story. This young woman was apparently facing charges already for assault and theft appear at she was on probation. We will get to what the judge had to say to her, but lets start with exhibit a, this is a School Psychologist also agains what happened. This girl should have never been put in childrens village. This is absolutely outrageous. Most of the children who had to move to Online Learning struggled with it, let alone a child with a diagnosis of adhd. It is absolutely unbelievable. Alex, first to you. My heart breaks for the family, however, i am not reall sure what the judge could have done differently. As you stated, she had larceny charges, her assault was agains her own mother on multiple occasions. At a certain point, if there is no repercussions, than there is no Lesson Learned and the likelihood of her reoffending i the future increases varied we are talking about school work, but part of the order was also that she wasnt supposed to be on electronics and she was usin her School Laptop to search the internet and not do her work. Okay, so she was logged on, that takes us to exhibit b. The judge says she hasnt fulfilled the expectation with regard to school performance. I told her things she was on thin ice and i was going to hol her to the letter in the order of the probation. The judge did. He did, he went rogue here. These offenses were very minor. She put a dial on gps tethering counseling, and they kid was trying come of the schoolwork issue was a result of a caseworker listening to a comment that she had made. The file the, but she never spoke to the teachers until three days later and then there were documents the teacher said she is doing well, she is doing her best. It cant be fulfilled with online training, shes vulnerable as are many other students. She is working according to the same standards is the other students are, and this girl has been put in jail essentially after 24 percent of the population has been released after the governors order they say only put juveniles in jail if they represent a substantial and immediate safety concern to the risk of others. Shes in jail because shes got a disability and they werent able to fulfill her iep. It is ludicrous, sharon and. Okay. We have a little bit of breakin news so stick with us. We are getting confirmation now the civil rights icon and democratic congressman from Congress John lewis has died tonight at the age of 80. He was one of the original Freedom Fighters in the last surviving speaker of the august 281963 march on washington. Made famous by Martin Luther king juniors i have it dream speech. He had been it battling an advanced form of pancreatic cancer. Here is correspondent peter ducey with more on his passing parrott. The civil rights icon john lewis has died. Always known for his fighting spirit, the he brought about on of his toughest battles between december 2019 he announced that he was undergoing treatment for stage iv pancreatic cancer. At the time for silence and patience is long gone. He was elected to congress i 1986 representing georgias fifth congressional district. When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just , you have to say something. You have to do something. For his contribution to the nation he was bestowed with the highest civilian honor, the president ial medal of freedom. Congressman lewis showed great love in the faith of violence and brutality. I will remember him as a gentle but strong warrior. Decades before he fought for equality as part of the Civil Rights Movement suffering a fractured skull in the blood he sunday march across selma, alabama Edmund Pettis bridge in 1965 while marching for Voting Rights. To years earlier, he helped organize the wash march on washington and at 23 was one of the youngest speakers and his work never stopped in early jun he paid a visit to black lives matter plaza in the nations capital. Keeping around the nation mid , powerful, and strong message to the rest of the world. That we would get there. He is survived by his son, h was 80 years old. In washington, peter ducey, fox news. Peter, thank you very much. John lewis died tonight at the age of 80. Our White House Correspondent has some personal antidotes he would like to share as we are getting this new spirit kevin, if youre there, id like to bring you in. If you love politics, you have to really appreciate the skill and the depth of support for congressman lewis infect seven times on seven different occasions, he garnered 100 percent of the support during his house run. He was either unopposed or simply in a circumstance where there was essentially no competition. That in and of itself is a remarkable political achievement. On a personal level, there are number people who always point too his close ties and his relationship with the late dr. Martin luther king jr. Even at a more contemporary political time, he has been one of the liens of the hill, a person who has not only spearheaded a number of what i would call perfect progressive causes on his side of the aisle but hes had this sort of stature that enabled him to reach across the aisle with great effectiveness and frankly dexterity when you consider how polarized things have an over the last several years. This is a man who was more than just a leader for his community. This is a man thats a leader for his party and is a national treasure. I wouldnt be supported to see this sort of send out that we would associate with other luminaries, not just political luminaries, but national heroes. You think about some of the ceremonies weve had in recent years from giants of leadership in our countrys history who have had very special ceremonie on capitol hill and special visitations. It may be a little tricky in th age of covid, but this is one o those special lives and special men who stepped into very dangerous and controversial positions many times to make a difference and to change history. He is somebody very well respected across the aisle, had friends on both sides of the aisle and was able to work with getting major things done with changes in you have democratic members and republican members who would go on this pilgrimage and walk across the bridge symbolically. You know, the thing i remember about john lewis most significantly was after the pulse nightclub shooting in the summer of 2016. He was known for nonviolent protests, and so he and a democratic congressman from connecticut, they went down and sat on the actual floor in the house chamber, for more than 24 hours, a sit in back in the 60s at these lunch counters, he was arrested more than 40 times, he was the head of the Student Nonviolent Organizing Committee back in the 1960s, and help this sit in to protest gun violence and urged them, the republican majority in the house of representatives, to do something about gun violence, and so he was still well into his congressional career, first elected to the house of representatives in 1986, you know, deploying these oldstyle tactics that seem to work in the 1960s, and that is what he was known for. He was often called, shannon, the conscience of the congress. Lisa and chad, we talked about the fact, we are showing a picture now of him with leadership there, nancy pelosi, he held a very high profile positions, even well into, you know, reaching 80, where he still had an incredibly important voice, and leadership when it came to the party on washington, what got done and how it got done on the hill. Yes, he was a member of the ways and means committee, which, taxwriting committee, a very powerful committee, but again, the thing that always strikes me about john lewis as he would bring in groups of students to his office, and he would show films from the 1960s, because not Everybody Knows what this history was, what it was like in the 1960s civil rights struggle. And i think it wasnt about people just remembering him, but understanding with the movement was about, and thats what he tried to emphasize. You know, he had an aide for many years who kind of encapsulated him in comic books, actually, telling stories of the civil rights struggle through comic books, putting the john lewis story onto ink and paper, which was remarkable in its own sense. I remember talking to him about the marvel comic books, you know, a movie a few years ago, black panther, and there was a lot of questions and talk about how that played into the Civil Rights Movement, and he told me something when i went back to watch the movie, and i always go back to watch the movie, you can look through the role of the women and you talk about how the women were very intellectual and the simple rights movement, and we know that film. So john lewis, we think of him from the 1960s, but also through modern day, as well, shannon. Shannon chad, if youll stay with us, i want to bring in richard fowler, democratic strategist and fox news contributor, to get his thoughts tonight on really the passing of an icon and a history maker, richard. Absolutely, especially as we get into this election year, there is no what you think about more than john lewis and his work around Voting Rights, bothe student nonviolence committee, as well as congressmen, voting to ensure we have the Voting Rights act. He is a true legend, civil rights icon, somebody that ive had the ability to meet and no, and its a really, really sad day for america and its a sad y who really championed our democracy and championed what it means to go to the voting box and actually voting, and that right all across the world. John lewis died tonight, its a very, very sad night. Shannon and richard, when you think about him, his public life, and seeing him in various roles on the hill and leadersh leadership, and im trying to remember the phrase, making good trouble, or being out there raising good trouble, to make things different, to make real change. But how would you describe him personally, as somebody that you talk to away from the scenes, and somebody you got to know any different way. Listen, i would tell everybody watching this to check out his documentary, its actually called good trouble, and it talks about his legislative work. Beyond being a civil rights icon and somebody known for, you know, fighting for the right to vote, he was also a skilled legislator, right, there were so many bills he cosponsored, authored to make life better for america, matter where you lived in the country, he really cared about how to make lives for the American People better. He started out his life in rural america, he talks about raising chickens and how he would preach to the chickens, and you know, he used that to sort of, being at a one room school house, he learned, he began to engage in the Civil Rights Movement right away, first, as somebody who was part of the nonviolent the nonviolent committee, they did sort of sit ins and work, the first city they got rid of that was in nashville, the First Campaign they ran in nashville, where these young people bravely went into woolworth counters and lunch counters and said we will not be moved until we are allowed to walk through the front that each like every other citizen in the country, and he went from there, all the way to the United States congress, and he is a pillar of the United States congress, sitting in the United States congress for many years, american history, and tonight, we boston. Shannon richard, i want to bring in kevin corke, the final minute we have in this hour, i mean, to see a man 1940, born to the parents who were sharecroppers, to rise to one of the most powerful positions in this country, its really an american story, kevin. And so many honors, you think about the congressional medal of freedom. I just wanted to read something very quickly that i thought really spoke to this, as you know, shannon, my mom died of pancreatic cancer. Lewis said this as were his treatment, he said, i have been in some kind of fight, for freedom, equality, basic human rights, for nearly my entire life. Im never faced a fight quite like the one i have now. A fight he succumbed to tonight, but not without putting up a very good fight, shannon. Shannon kevin, summed it up perfectly.
