When he takes the mic he will outline the house tax plan. We will take that one might as well. The allstars are waiting on the starting gun. Mark sanford of South Carolina. The next phase to vote in the house. They will react to the made in america announcement in the senate struggled with repealing obama care. As you just saw o. J. Simpson has been granted parole. The juice will be set free from a prison in nevada it will come in the fall after nine years in the slammer. What happens next. Geraldo rivera has covered the story decades. He is on the scene and he has the very latest. Markets take aims at new record highs. And i believe the russell 2000. The only one that is down right now is the tao. You need to be here. The markets could move on any one of the stories. Welcome back everybody. And we just want to start right now with the white house where an event is about to begin. President trump will make an announcement that is related to the made in america story. He has with the ceo of merck, pfizer and corning. The minute the president comes up. They are really huge in glass. Its called gorilla glass. They will make special glass for the pharmaceutical industry. Everything is made in america. While were waiting for all of that we need to look at the markets. The dow was down only five points. Any move to the upside will be a record for the s p and the nasdaq. Its all there to finish a record. Here is President Trump. Thank you very much. Exciting times at the white house. A lot of things happening that are so great for our country. I want to welcome made in america week its right here and some of the great business minds. We continued the developing of the manufacturing. It has been something very important to us. Our tribute to the skill and dedication in grit of the American Worker we are showcasing products from all around the country that are stamped with the beautiful letters made and the usa. We want to welcome three other great companies. With a major announcement. You will be caring merck, pfizer and corning. These three companies are announcing that they will now be made in america. That is a big step in statement. They had formed a groundbreaking partnership. It is an incredible product. They are coming together to create in advance class packaging operations which include an immediate investment of at least 500 million in the creation of nearly 1,000 new jobs and quickly the initial investment will be spread across facilities in new york. Corning will be announcing in the coming months. There is some pretty good competition. Is very innovative on top of it. This initiative will bring it industry to our shores. Too long there have been dominated by foreign countries. They are back into the United States and they are doing more and more of these products. These companies have achieved a breakthrough in pharmaceutical Glass Technology that would be used to store and deliver injectable drugs into piles and cartridges this technology is not only great for american jobs it is great for patients now had access to safe her medications in the vaccines. Also great for the Health Care Healthcare workers who can administer the drugs it makes it much safer for them and safely without having any problems in worrying about bile breaking which i understand is a tremendous problem that we are neck and have anymore. I know that secretary price and the fda are committed to working with Innovative Companies like this. Amazing things are happening there we are going to be streamlining as we head in other industry regulations so that they can reach patients quickly. Very proud of that. I want to think ken frazier ian reed and wendell weeks and the great leaders of this. For believing in america and the American Workers. When we invest in america. It does that. Every day we are fighting to restore industry. Make America Great again. Thats exactly what were doing. I want to thank you for your dedication to made in america. I would like to have you say a few words. Think you come on. [applause]. Thank you mister president for the leadership. Its an honor to be here for the white house. And for the continued support for American Innovation. It is proud to have collaborated with corning and pfizer since the start of the project. Has the exceptional new glass a reality. They remain on the leading edge of scientific innovation and similar advancement in glass that is purpose built for this medical inventions. Occasional breakage and cracks and been a fact of life for our industry. They have comprehensive Quality Control processes to deal with them but when these effects occur they could have impacts on us and more importantly on patients by interrupting supply. During our testing they allowed an increase in the prophecy rate as well. It the agility, Quality Assurance and supply predict ability. Most important it helps further ensure reliable access to vile medicines. Then we plan to convert several next. With the appropriate reviews with the fda and other agencies. So now it is my pleasure to turn things over to ian reed. It is great to be here at the white house. We appreciate the strong support for this effort to have this technology injury engineered for the storage of drugs. This is a really important advance for us. I would like to think secretary price for his leadership in looking at innovated ways. The breakthrough. As a result of collaboration between three storied American Companies. A century of innovation that has the significant benefits for patients. They are a potential game changer and supports the focus. The glass industry represents about 4 billion of expenditures. But subsequent issues the subsequent costs are multiples. It is a major innovation. To ensure that we have the environment that supports it. We are looking forward to working with the administration on both the regulatory policy and its tax reform to ensure that we can take that. [applause]. We have already heard the president can and ian describe this remarkable new product that sometimes i think is better than the show and tell. Mister president if you will do the honors with me. One of the many extraordinary features this helps protect patients and improves pharmaceutical manufacturing. We will start with that. It is the pharmaceutical manufacturing process. What the screen will show this how much force for the vial is broken. So mister president if you can please do that. You did okay. Now lets turn to the new product that we are announcing. This is the dollar if you just do the same thing. [applause]. Those are things that you dont normally measure things. The president just exerted about a thousand pounds of force and the important thing is it still intact in protected the ingredients. Inside. If the next generation requires we plan to build that right here in the United States. With the office of American Innovation with the next generation products. [applause]. They wanted me to also do a thousand pounds. It feels like it. Thank you. See mac that is called a demo that actually works. The companies are often in paris because it doesnt work. It is based in the state of new york actually doesnt shatter or break under regular circumstances and what that means. Safer products in safer in ministration first things like vaccines that is going to be a partnership with two bitter rivals. They never share anything. We are looking at all three of those stocks. Merck is up 47 cents. It is just on the flatline there. That is the fascinating developments. They will yield 4,000 jobs. And somewhere they are looking in southern america. Get your plans for it to make your pitch. Let me bring into the congressman. What do you think. It sounds like a good idea. If you happen to look at the numbers South Carolina is number one in the entire continental United States of america in per capita foreign direct investment. We will name out that the single companies. I would encourage it. I followed South Carolina and all of the businesses that have eventually come there from out of their country. We know how to bring jobs to your state. We have to get to your budget. You are in a committee the House Budget Committee yesterday that was marking up the budget which then passed with every single republican there. Your front and center. Open the window for us give us some of the specific parts of the budget that democrats actually like. It is a partyline vote. Republicans voted for it. I think that there opponent was the cuts at the the dick discretionary spending. They are worrying about that. As you worry about different dedicate medicaid programs. They didnt like some parts. And something that hasnt happened in 30 years. It is vital to the very competitiveness that was being talked about just a moment ago by the three corporate ceos. In terms of allocation of capital. And it something we have to do a bit better on. Work with me here. I know it was a vote along party lines. Which parts of a very, located budget where they willing to live with. Was there anything. There are parts. In the idea of picking exactly where we are going our go down different members mines. I dont know. I think there would be parts of different members that they like. But as a whole what they were concerned about was too much increase in defense and too much cuts to dismiss dick discretionary. Ultimately you guys were able to do what the senate could not and that is move on to the next phase which would be a full houseboat on the budget and of course the republicans controlled the house at the moment. Lets just say that passes what is the next thing you tackle and im hoping you will save tax reform but can you and when do you anticipate it could actually be done on the house side. I think its a fall activity. Even then its gonna take longer than everybody suspects. I think the white house is much more correlated and focused on the tax proposal. A border adjustment tax i think it would be great contention on that particular point. I happen to have one of those. And then you get an ad on tax. Now we would be added in adding in essence another one. I would and i tried to offer an amendment leslie wait a minute i see that was the writing on the wall with the collapse of the Health Care Debate yesterday what happen was tax reform got about a trillion dollars more difficult to get. Then how do you pay for this budget. If you took away full expensing in the depreciation schedule you would have it paid for without a border adjustment tax. I think that would be a good pay off. I know you want to listen to what we head on the screen. Paul ryan is in lawrence massachusetts and he is expected to talk about tax reform. To make for Companies Like this and businesses across america so they can actually compete. This will help bring a good paying jobs back from overseas and its can increase our economic competitiveness. We will get rid of the ridiculous system that we have that tells American Companies keep your money overseas. Literally, what happens is companies that sell products overseas they get to keep that money overseas. We are the only country in the industrialized world that does that now. We literally had trillions of dollars parked overseas to avoid our tax system. This is money that could and will be reinvested in the American Economy once our reform is placed. Lets encourage those companies to bring that back home. Reinvest in we invest in our people. Get things done right here in america. That is so essential and critical. [applause]. So that is the business side of tax reform get our rates down to make us competitive encourage companies to come back from overseas. It is causing this jobs. Lets talk about workers and families right now we have a tax code that basically no one truly understands and forced by an agency that no one really likes. Think about the sense of dread you have not knowing how much her to pay you are navigating all of those forms and deductions and the thought of having to do it deal with the irs. Will simple by all of this. We will cut your taxes you work hard and long and the government is not making the best of it. I think you could do a whole lot more with your own money. That helps grow this economy. Next, we need to eliminate burdensome taxes like the death tax that makes it harder for them to pass it on. We need to consolidate the deductions and we need to double the standard deduction just to make the whole thing simpler. So you can save and make your life more less stressful come tax season. Imagine filling out your taxes on your form the size of a postcard. Thats what were talking about here. Were talking about simplifying this thing so much that its so easy that you dont have to go to a tax preparer you have to navigate all of the work rules and deductions. Not knowing what its can look like until youre done with the process. Get the special interest out of it and get people up postcard type tax reform. [applause]. That makes it easy for families and workers it helps people in small towns or lawrence massachusetts. Let Companies Bring back or repatriate offshore profits because right now they dont want to be double taxed for a. Is also saying we will cut Corporate Taxes to make businesses like yours. And be able to spend their money the way they would like too. Eliminate the estate tax. And the former republican senator from new hampshire. As he continues to speak you floated all the things that they have talked about already do those three main points do you think that can get past somehow someway so you have some kind of tax reform. Absolutely. Is not Like Health Care reform. There was a lot of stress because Health Care Healthcare reform involved creating new entitlements attacks are from is basically in the wheelhouse of the republicans. They are being negotiated as we speak. So that the chairman of the ways and means and finance committee. The bipartisan support and really it should. If they do it right by keeping it progressive but reducing rates. I see the pathway to passing tax reform is pretty clear. If they have to use reconciliation they will use it. Senator, our you sure about this issue because while senator greg remains optimistic that indicates it will spike spending in defense so you have more money for the military and at the same time i believe about 765 billion in medicaid cuts over ten years that may not be so incredibly palatable to some republicans perhaps. With your experience passing bills over the years do you see it like that. Honestly, i dont. I think this is very competent. It complicated. It happened last time when president reagan and the republicans and democrats in the congress got behind tax reform even then it was a difficult left. In this case when they are pulling the wagon here. As can be hard to do tax reform just like its been hard to do healthcare issues. Can you see that some republicans run states with Republican House members and senators are very concerned about cutting things like food stamps and Educational Programs for medicare and medicaid. The way this works out is that part of the budget is not can impact tax reform. It will be done separate from the budget and the Budget Proposal that was set up by the white house which i thought was pretty mystical in its presentation is not going to be the final product. But what will be the final product under the budget resolution will be a resolution structure that allows the senate to move forward with 51 votes and theyre absolutely right. Hes been involved in us a lot. Its not going to be an easy left. But i do think it can be passed. Right now it doesnt seem to have a lot of interest on the other side of the aisle. Let me just add on on some of these issues. Theres no such thing as the death tax. If they would move overseas and get back into this country and make money overseas the one advantage they would have is to pay lower taxes. Theres a tax incentive to moving jobs overseas. Its kind of like a bizarre tax incentive. To understand them first of all and then hopefully to have some republicans and democrats to come forward and say the tax code is way too complicated it should be simplified and made more fair. We would love to hear that before we let both of you go i know we both worked with him. Senator john mccain is recovering from having eye surgery. The more devastating news is that he is a very aggressive form of brain cancer. I will start with senator greg in. He is one of the most Successful Americans of our time.
