He would increase solar and wind energy and eliminate 4 billion in annual tax breaks for oil and gas companies. Hes tried to do that, and of course the republicans have blocked it. Thats the good. Lets show you the bad. The copenhagen summit which so many people had great hopes for that pretty much got nothing done. They had a voluntary agreementwow. He has basically abandoned cap and trade. No question the republicans fought him on that, but there was no second effort at all. He has approved the southern half of the Keystone Pipeline and i tell you the minute hes electednot the minute, i like to be accuratebut when hes reelected hell approve the northern half as well. And of course he brags how he has done more drilling than george w. Bush. Which is true. Now here is president obama talking about in the second president ial debate about how great he is at oil drilling. Obama we have increased Oil Production to the highest levels in 16 years. Natural Gas Production is the highest its been in decades. We have seen increases in coal production. Romney more drilling, more permits and licenses. Obama yes, we still continue to open up new areas of drilling. We continue to make it a priority for us to go after natural gas. Romney were going to bring that pipeline in from canada. How in the world the president said no to that pipeline, i will never know. Obama we have opened up public plans. Were drilling more on public lands than the Previous Administration and the previous president was an oil man. Romney more drilling and more permits and licenses. Obama we made the largest investment in clean coal technology. Romney in the last four years you cut lances on federal land and waters in half. Obama not true. Romney how much did you cut them. Obama not true. Governor, we produced more oil. Cenk yeah, im more prooil more procoal and then i brag that i drill more than president bush. And then bragging how romney isnt pro coal enough. I was. Listening to governor romney talking about how he was the champion of coal. When he was the governor, he stood in front of a coal fire plant and said this plant kills people. Now hes running around talking like hes mr. Coal. Come on. Come on. You know thats not on the level. Does anybody ever actually look at that guy and think hes really into coal . Cenk ha, ha, ha, romney is not into coal enough. If you elect an democrat well really be into coal. Even into coal even more. Climate change, mtv who gives a damn about that. And did it help . Did your strategy a piece oil and coal, did it help . No super pacs run by the coal and Oil Industries are running this ad against president obama any way. We can build on that rock for generations to come. But our current leadership in washington has taken us down a different path. A path paved by heavyhanded epa regulation. Bush. 75 increase in drilling rigs from 29 to 2011. U. S. Oil production at the highest level since 1997. And most permits for deep water drilling since 07 even though we had the bp disaster happen on his watch. Youre not going to outdrill. Youre not going to outcoal president obama. How is it that climb Climate Change working for president obama . Would you brag about it . Why do they do it, its the money, lebowsky, of course its the money. Look at how much the oil company spent, 167,000 spent every day lobbying congress. Every 1 spent on lobbying is equivalent to 30 worth of tax breaks that they get from the american people. And finally where did the money go . It went largely to romney any way. Was it worth it for 720,000 . Romney got 4. 7 million from the oil cop. The republicans win any way. And we all lose because were right now in the middle of Climate Change, and we dont have any politicians or almost any media who give a dam or plan to do anything about it. These are billions of dollars of taxpayer monies going into the pockets of private equity firms and large companies. Theyre very dependent on what the government does. Whoever occupies the white house can open or close the spigot of taxpayer money to these companies. Thats the underbelly of this election. We talk about the war on women and these issues, but by the end of the day these executive orders are really what is at stake and why many of these donors are getting involved in this election. Cenk i want to touch on one last article that you wrote lee. Its not just american donors, but its foreign donors, as well. You wrote about how Saudi Arabian businesses might be influencing our election. One big spender in the election is a trade association its called the American Petroleum institute. Despite the name american, the board member is a saudi lobbyist hes a Saudi National and hes help to go direct the American Petroleum effort. Theyve been caught in transferring cash to these 501 c groups that are blanketing the states with ads. Its a convoluteed web but essentially 501 c groups can accept foreign money and be run by foreign lobbyists. That presents a massive loophole that allows Foreign Corporations and foreign donors to get involved in domestic election as soon as great, not just American Companies buy our politicians but so do Foreign Companies and Foreign Investors run our politics as well.
