this week's election saw some historic wins, including in virginia. here's cnn's senior washington correspondent, joe johns. >> reporter: winsome sears' victory this week was nothing short of historic. >> i didn't run to make history. i just wanted to leave it better than i found it. >> reporter: with her win in the virginia lieutenant governor's race, sears became the first woman of color lektded to statewide office in the commonwealth. >> are you ready to rumble? >> reporter: the 57-year-old sears was part of a republican sweep of statewide races in virginia running alongside governor-elect glenn youngkin. >> we're going to have parental school choice now. we're not defunding the police.
