Article content Earlier this year, Laurentian University, Northern Ontario’s largest university, faced a devastating financial reckoning it could no longer delay. The choice was stark: close the university’s doors, or set down the path of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) to save the university, understanding that it would be difficult and that many in our community would be impacted. Laurentian turned to the CCAA process, a procedure that allowed us the opportunity to restructure our academic and operational affairs in order to secure a viable and sustainable long-term future.
