Were clearly journalists here, we have our cameras and everything, and they were still firing towards us, so this has not stopped yet, and people are still angry, of course, yeah, its quite intense to see their anger and for them to come out, uh, but uh, on the negative side of things for the way that these Security Forces handled them and uh, incurred some injuries on them, that is the unfortunate side of what were saying, uh, looking at the bright side of things, i dont know if you agree or not, obviously it highlights the fact that uh are rising up uh around the world on the civilian side of things in terms of uh residence of countries like in uh beirots which is probably in a more heightend state of awareness um and more compassion if we can say that because of obviously the presence of hezbollah and the way they feel about palestinians but this will highlight what is going on which is nothing short but massacre and war crime um this particular protest seems to have take many by surprise in terms of it happening i dont know if you were aware that it was going to happen or not but im guessing as the work. Were going to see more of these, right . Well, definitely, it was quite spontaneous what we saw here today, the protest by hazbullah today was called for the day before, it was very organized, like usually hezballah has organized things, they have a speech, this group of people, of protesters, they said that theyre going to just, it was very spontaneous, suddenly they have decided to come to the us embassy, but from the day that crime happened and people start going down to the streets, blaming the us, the Security Forces right away enforced uh the um this the protection uh surrounding the us embassy. You can see here we have one person who has fallen, were seeing the Security Forces basically calming down somewhat trying to help one of the wounded, of course we cant really talk to them, i tried to to ask them if they can comment on why they are doing this, what is happening right here, but they have orders of course, and we do not want to see lebanese actually facing the the Lebanese Army. Its not their job, its not something that is, the Lebanese Army has always stood by the people of lebanon, they have marters in south lebanon, their posts were hit in the southern areas where the israelis continue to shell, but unfortunately this is what happens when the United States dictates its policies onto a country like lebanon, and although lebanon has lot of support for the resistance, and lebanon has of course, feels that they have a hit. History of fighting Israeli Occupation and israeli aggressions and us aggressions against its country, still you have that that power that they are trying to use here in lebanon and they are enforcing, which is basically trying to put the Lebanese Army facing the people and the civilians themselves, now some women have tried to talk to them telling them that you are like my son, you i dont we dont want to fight you, were not here to fight you, were here to express our anger at the united. States because of their support for israel uh, of course, like i said, this is a soldier, a soldier has to um, just basically follow orders, here now were seeing of course the the Lebanese Forces trying to take the protesters back as far as possible, um, and and i wish we can get someone to talk about their even the the the soldiers are quite angry right now, theyre just trying to move them away, even the soldiers. Themselves have suffocated because of the teer gas, we have one of them had fainted because of that, so its not only the the um, excuse me, the civilians, but the soldiers themselves, they have been impacted by their own weapons, and so far it has been only teergas, this is reminescent of uh all the protests that have taken place near the us embassy, like i said for decades, whenever the lebanes wanted to protest, this was what happened, and of course this is just only part of the. Uh the influence and the interference that we see from the United States embassy here in lebanon, the u. S. Ambassador, herself dorothy shah, meets with lebanese officials a daily basis. Especially after the issue happened in uh in south lebanon, theyre trying to put pressure on the lebanese fractions to put pressure on hezballah not to interfere and not to take part in the operations in south laban hez has made it clear that no one will dictate to them what they need to do and the resistance of course will be fighting back and they will continue to support the Palestinian People thank you uh were going to give you a time out to catch your breath and to uh get perhaps something to clear her throat uh thats mariam sal there on the scene there uh we do thank her for um the sponton his protest i broke out on for her to show up at the scene in order to give you and you can see how intense the air is there um blaze toulo is a convener at acra collective the socialist movement of gana who joins us from akra uh welcome to the program well lets continue a little bit first about the what we saw in beirout and also thenpur people are rising up showing their anger particular in bayrut but overall uh people are um obviously maybe some for the first time have realized the brutality of israel in terms of how it has uh massacred palestinians a number of war crimes have been committed by israel and on that front iran um through its foreign minister hossain abdullahyan in that oic conference in jetta is uh leading a call for israel to be to be held accountable uh what whats your impression of how israel has conducted itself uh in terms of the purely uh the picture speak for themselves the massacker of palestinians well thank you very. People are going to fight, people are going to die and that there is no victory for any occupier, theres no regime, and we in the african continent have seen it before, and that is why we have always said that the struggle of the Palestinian People is directly linked to the struggles of the african people, we know very well that territory like uganda was going to be given out to this socalled sionist regime, but it ended up being in the lands of. Different uh uprisings that have taken place and obviously we applaud uh what the citizens of those countries have done because they want to get whats rightfully theirs, but you have accomplice here, if i can use that. I mean, i was shocked yesterday when russia tried to send um um um some of the United NationsSecurity Council with a statement to sease fire, and the United States declined, simply because hamas was not mentioned as as as uh how do you call it a terrorist, it is amazing, and it is because of that single act that they acted yesterday with impunity to go and blast this hospital where almost over 500 people are dead so i agree with you it is very clearly that the United States is at the center of what is happening in in in palestine and it has the center because the us has lot of interest in the arab world us has lot of economic and political interest in the in the middle east and the only way to entrench that interest is to hold very close uh allies with israel, but this is not going to happen, like i said before, nobody knew in africa that appartite south africa was going to be defeated, but we ended up defeating appertite south africa, and we are going to do it again, israel is going to be defeated, israel will not remain the way it is, with the mass rising of the palestinian resistance, and the resistance of the working people of the world, the us and britain can continue acting in impunity, but i can assure you. You with the mass solidarity that im seeing, with the level of consciousness that we are looking at and the resistance of the Palestinian People, palestine is certainly going to win this battle, its no longer about the war, its about the battle, the battle to impose a certain political will on another people, how can you just occupy peoples territory and continue to stretch your your boundaries, kill people, and what is appetite, appetite is a system where we have different laws for different groups of people and that is what is happening in in gaza and the west bank and the World Leaders are sitting, this shows that really they are misleaders, they have no interest and the Palestinian People have known this very rely on this socalled United NationSecurity Council as the harbinger for its political and economic resistance. To ensure that the people of palestine are free and they are free forever, but as for the United States of america, this is really another indication that they cannot be the leaders of the world, they cannot set the. You know, you use the phrase, and that phrase is defining moments, if were looking a defining moments and as you said, there needs to be things that need to be done in order to define the moment, as the phrase indicates, um, what uh steps can be taken in order for that to become a reality when it comes to israel, we cant look at. The way things were, the status quo is not going to be able to uh be maintained, thats an obvious, but uh, what kind of steps do you think needs to be taken uh, particularly countries that uh, in for example, countries in the region that have some kind of relationship with israel or even with the us, and other countries uh that have uh somewhat of a support for israel in one form or another in order to uh have action. Be taken and as you said for this defining moments to then be turned into reality . Those mean those actions are clearly being taken already. Mean, have you seen the mass demonstrations and protest that is happening around the world in solidarity with the people of palestine . This is unprecedented. I am so happy to see the majority of the people of the world standing up in defense of the people of palestine and you can see it all over, the flag of palestine. Is all over, is raising new level of consciousness, especially in africa where theres been an attempt to make it seems like it is a fight between islam and christianity, which is not so, now all those dynamics are changing, the trends are changing, people are beginning to understand that this is imperialism and it speak, and for me these are the objective factors that must mature, so the first answer to what are the clear, concrete action that must be taken is the. Maturity of the objective factors and the objective factors for me seems to be matured with the mass protest, the mass demonstrations, the mass defiance of the United States of america are very clear, people have now understood very clearly that the us has no commitment to democracy and that the united, the United NationsSecurity Council has no commitment to democracy, these are very clear concrete things, we shouldnt take them for granted, take the mass protest of people, the mass demonstrations for for granted, they are very important, they are very important political signals for this defining m
