FROM 7 BURLINGTON STATION, THIS IS OMAHA’S NEWS LEADER, KETV NEWSWATCH 7 AT 10:00. >> DURING AN EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE, THE MALE SUSPECT WAS SHOT. THE FEMALE SUSPECT PRODUCED A GUN AND WAS ALSO SHOT. DALAUN: LINCOLN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND STATE TROOPERS EXCHANGED GUNFIRE WITH SUSPECTS DURING A PURSUIT AND ONE IS DEAD. IT ALL STARTED AROUND 8:30 A.M. THIS MORNING WHEN SOMEONE CALLED 911 AFTER THEY WERE ROBBED. IT ENDED NEAR NORTH 50 SIX ST. KETV NEWSWATCH 7’S EMILY TENCER JOINS US NOW WITH THE EARLY DEVELOPMENTS IN THIS INVESTIGATION. EMILY: OFFICERS SAY TWO TROOPERS FIRED THEIR WEAPONS IN THIS MORNING’S SHOOTING. BOTH AGENCIES WERE ASKED TO HELP WITH THE INVESTIGATION. A LAW ENFORCEMENT SHOOTING SHUTS DOWN THE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY 77 FOR HOURS AS INVESTIGATORS PIECED TOGETHER WHAT HAPPENED EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THE LANCASTER COUNTY SHERIFF SAYS IT BEGAN AROUND 8:30 A.M. WHEN A MAN SAYS HE WAS ROBBED IN A LINCOLN HOTEL PARKING LOT BY A MAN AND A WOMAN DRIVING A CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. >> THE VICTIM WAS ALERTED THAT HIS CREDIT CARD WAS BEING USED AT A LINCOLN BUSINESS. EMILY: A TROOPER SPOTTED THE TRAIL BLAZER AND TRIED TO PULL THEM OVER. >> DURING THE PURSUIT, THE MALE SUSPECT BEGAN TO SHOOT AT THE TROOPER. EMILY: THE TROOPER TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITH AN INTERVENTION TECHNIQUE AND IT WAS A CRASH. >> IT WAS ON NORTH 50 SIX ST. EMILY: AFTER T CRASH, LAW ENFORCEMENT SAYS THERE WAS AN EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE AND THE MAN WAS SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES. >> THE FEMALE SUSPECT ALSO PRODUCED A GUN AND DISOBEYED COMMANDS. EMILY: SHE WAS ALSO SHOT. >> OFFICERS ATTEMPTED LIFESAVING MEASURES. BOTH SUSPECTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL AREA HOSPITAL. EMILY: POLICE SAY THE WOMAN DIED AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE MAN IS CURRENTLY IN THE ICU WITH LIFE-THREATENING ENTRIES. >> WE ARE BLESSED THAT NO CITIZENS OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THIS INCIDENT. EMILY: LINCOLN LAW ENFORCEMENT SAYS THE TRAIL BLAZER WAS A STOLEN VEHICLE FROM WYOMING AND THAT FIREARMS WERE RECOVERED FROM THE SCENE. THE NAMES OF THE MAN AND WOMAN OR THE OFFICERS INVOLVED HAVE NOT BEEN NAMED. DALAUN: A STATE TROOPER WAS HURT IN THE INCIDENT. HIS CRUISER COLLIDED WITH THE SUSPECTS SUV DURING A MANEUVER TO END THE PURSUE. >> THE TROOPER WAS ABLE TO STAY ENGAGED THROUGHOUT THE PURSUIT. HE HAS SINCE BEEN RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL AND IS RECOVERING AND FOR THIS WE ARE THANKFUL. DALAUN: TWO TROOPERS ARE ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE TONIGHT ALONG WITH A LINCOLN OFFICER.
