Milton city manager drinks treated effluent from wastewater plant

In a video that's been viewed more than 5,000 times on the city of Milton's Facebook page, City Manager Randy Jorgenson can be seen drinking an entire glass of treated effluent taken right from the city's wastewater treatment plant and proclaiming it "clean enough to drink."
The video, which was Jorgenson's idea, is an attempt to quell any fears people may have about the site of the new wastewater treatment plant near the Blackwater River.
“We’re in the process of trying to identify a location for the Rapid Infiltration Basin System (RIBS), and we’ve potentially found one that’s on county land in close proximity to our plant,” Jorgenson said. RIBS is a system where treated effluent is sprayed onto a field and seeps into the ground, unlike the current plant’s system, which sprays the treated effluent directly into the Blackwater.
