The short answer is that is a project that could take up to 10 years. Right now people are saying solutions need to be put in place for the imminent fire danger, which is today, tomorrow, next year. People are saying it is frustrating because there getting so many different messages. They were told they were going to lose power today, so they closed their businesses. The power stayed on. People we talked to today say they have questions about how pg e is handling the public notifications. They also understand the need for safety. People in the north bay who survived the 2017 fire are learning other fire victims have an urgent deadline. Fires burned more than 5600 buildings, many of those were homes. More than half of fire victims have still not filed plans against pg e. The deadline to do that is 5 pm october 21. People eligible to file include those who lost property, income, or suffered emotional distress.
