They were asked to come to this location to help out as well this all went down at 5 41 in the evening, thousands of people in attendance, this was the final day of the threeday festival which draws about a 100,000 people. I have been here many times this is a family, friendly of n which is why unfortunately there was a 6 yearold boy in attendance with his mother at the time let me show you his picture his name is steven romero. He was there with his mother he was right near the shooting. Unfortunately he was shot his mother was also shot in the hand and thus to make he she was rushed to the hospital where she should survive her injuries. Unfortunately we heard the news shortly after the mass shooting that little steven did not survive his injuries. We got confirmation, we waited for confirmation from family members before we took to the air. We unfortunately got the confirmation from his heart broken care and mother. Heres what she told us about stephen. And some uncle my son who had. And then the with when looking for fun. Something that they want to. Something she says that she was trying to rush to get information as well as she was trying to get ahold of family members the father was not here at the time he was making calls as well they were able to track down the mother at a nearby hospital, what again she is expected to survive her injuries 15 other people at least were injured in as we dont know the conditions this morning as far as the name of the shooter, he has not been publicly identified yet. I think youre right Police Department nor a motive has been given and those other 15 people because this happened so quickly and such a large scale jeans and area that they had to be sent to multiple hospitals as far away as stanford which is about 30 miles from this location, they went to stanford to be treated there as well because not one hospital could handle all of the injuries we obviously well stay on top of this situation, but we also have heard in the overnight hours that the shooter was carrying some sort some sort of Assault Rifle which is why so many people shot in such a short span of time. Fortunately there were Police Officers here at the festival said they didnt have to come racing to the festival there were Police Officers on the ground at the time which is why they engaged within a minute. Those officers even though they presumably was a gun battle. Those officers were not injured when they fight fatally took this man down. Jan started thats. Thats the amazing thing well as when you think theyre ever thought 30,000 people a day over the course of the day then are there. The damage that that he could have done. And and the other question is going to be like looking at those videos and watching the time like if you you are even on the other side of the park and and you could hear gunshots in video you are taking theyre going to look at the times and he saw that together so were going to have to hear from people who were shooting video who are there who s wthey saw and piece it all together thats going to take a while. Thats going to take a long time which is why this is happening on multiple fronts obviously you have plenty of witnesses or ear witnesses. At the event we heard one of the band members performing on stage that he literally locked eyes with the gunman asking the gunman, what are you doing. So there are plenty of witnesses but also the us a huge ground this is a massive area for them to host such a large event they need a park which is why there will be Police Officers and they said for days to come as they meticulously go through this area if youre just joining us. Now let me get this out of the way they have metal detectors here there are metal detectors as though this person didnt softer in with freely with a gun next to him instead according to investigators. This person had some sort of tool cut through a fence with the and then get to the part it dawned upon me when i first arrived here, this is an area that ive been here many times and you can see look Santa Clara Police that live in Santa Clara County that Santa Clara Police here to help out with the scene. Theres another mobile unit Santa Clara Police a special response team. They are rolling and look at the muscle that are pulling in here investigators because this is a huge. Campground park that they need to campus through look at this more its like a little convoy, theres a Tactical Unit rolling through here. It dawned upon me if you are looking for maximum victims. This probably james darya would be your location because there are vendors to the right side ive been here theres so many vendors selling just great items, lets face it theres garlic ice cream. Theres items that you wouldnt get at the store, wonderful people who come from all across the nation. A massive area, this is not like an apple campus or Something Like that its a campground is a park its big. But you dont really have to go far you know because you come down here, especially when its alive and well in maximum performance, everywhere you turn you going to have to say excuse me excuse me excuse me so people at some parts shoulder to shoulder. So yes, its not a huge area were not talking like golden gate park. But it is a decent size and lets face it there packed in here. We know obviously that he cut into the fence but where did he come from and how was this. How long was this planned out who is this person really hoping we can get the identity of the gunman. And obviously right now there is a search for a second person involved so we hope to get an update on that see if theyve figured out if theres actually person involved but they do have to comprise a ton of evidence a ton of video collected by people who are there. Governor Gavin Newsome has commended this Police Department thanking them for responding so quickly they had police there at the festival of course theyre security guards there and they had a Police Nearby the chief and then called for mutual aid and thats what were seeing on will of those and seeing all that mutual aid still helping out. Now the shooting occurred on the last day of the annual threeday celebration and i was there on friday. It is a pretty big area. I mean it can hold up. A 100,000 people in the weekend. On a golf course were driving through the property trying to see just how big it is its pretty big. But if you if used to pop out of that fence and see just thousands of people he just began firing and thats when police went straight. And now we caught up with gilroys a but the police chief take a listen. Any witnesses because there was quite a number of people in the park. Anybody that witnessed this incident. Can tell us anything that took many photographs that perhaps videotaped anything that might be are relevant to this investigation to please contact that paul ryan is just day. Not only is it sad for everyone that a mass shooting happened here in gillray gilroy but it happened at the garlic festival. Was this person also shooting or was this person just an accomplice, do they have some role in this to help come up with the idea.
