Financial difficulties led to a housing development being up for sale -- and 12 formerly homeless individuals are faced with finding a new home.
After 16 years a Wilmington supportive housing development -- Driftwood Apartments -- is going up for sale. The apartment complex contains 12 units for chronically homeless persons with disabilities.
Now they are being displaced.
Florena Fields has been living at Driftwood for a year. Prior to living at Driftwood, she faced sporadic periods of homelessness throughout the last few years.
That's why when Fields heard the buildings were being sold, she couldn't believe it.
"It was just shocking," Fields said. "I have nowhere to go."
