We have seen some footage, Fire Levelled the town of lahaina into a scorched shell. As of today, firefighters contained 80 of the fire there. Others continue to burn around maui and the big island. Could take weeks until a complete search for the missing can happen. Asking for help to provide temporary assistance. In a town like lahaina, there is nothing left to repair, there is nothing left at all. It is going to take many years to rebuild lahaina. When you see the full extent of the destruction of lahaina, it will shock you. It does appear like a bomb and fire went off, if i may. All the buildings will have to be rebuilt, it will be a new rebuild of lahaina. Largest National Disaster our state has seen. Alexandria Airlines Serving maui added more flights. Empty planes are being sent in to assist and fire crews are assisting with Search And Rescue effort. National guard has been mobilized at the direction of President Biden, all resources have been ordered and marine corps have provided helicopters supporting Search And Rescue. Here is the president. We have been on vacation, none of us dreamed we would be in the middle of a cataclysmic event like this. We are usually watching fox news and it is happening far, far away. We were snorkeling and we were at first, Thought High Winded knocked out a lot of power and power lines were across the highway. Initially it is just gridlock of traffic and somes irritation, but it didnt take long to learn this was more than irtagsz, this is a dangerous situation we had become a part of. Ashley you said you lost contact with your kids for a while. Tell us what that situation looked like, how that unfolded and how you got in contact with them. Yeah, we had gone up to the beach for the Day Snorkeling. We had left early, my wife and daughter and i for our vrbo, that was an hour away. The rest of the family was going to stay behind and is that correctel for an hour or two longer and meet us later. We got down to where we were heading out of town in lahaina and realized that we might not make it out of town. For about an hour, it was chaos, complete confusion and nobody knew what to do. Problem, there was only one way in and out of town, so that one road was shut down. I wasnt sure how we were going to get out of town. They open the highway and we make a run for it, along with a lot of others. We are hopeful our family will be able to follow. We got back to the vrbo, and the hours began to tick away. We realized something bad has really happened and we flip on the news and realize the severity of the situation and then we of course begin to worry about our kids, our adult children. Had no idea where they were at that point or if they were okay. We began to pray. Carley im sure that reunion was incredible when you did meet back up with your children. What was that like for you . Well, you can imagine any of us as parents, the relief that rushes over you when you realize the people you love most on this planet are okay. They had actually been able to take refuge for the night at the westin, the staff was very, very kind and compassionate, hospitable, thousands of people were homeless for the night and sadly tragically thousands more are homeless now that will not have a happy Family Reunion like the one we had. And so they were able to make it back to our rental the next day and we were so happy to be together. You can imagine. Carley you are a victim of this disaster issue but you are also a pastor. You said you prayed throughout this whole situation. Before we let you go, words to people who are experiencing this devastation and loss. The good news is there is good news in all the bad news. The bad news is not new news. Cataclysmic events have been going on from The Dawn Of Time and the bible tells us because of the curse of sin upon all creation, god created a world full of imperfection and One Day Paradise Lossed will be Paradise Regained and god has a plan to put the pieces back together again and in the lord jesus christ, hope and salvation for all who believe.
