POLICE are ready for the demand Summer tourism will bring to the county and are embracing the positives it will bring the area, says assistant chief constable Andy Slattery.
Mr Slattery says Cumbria could see one of its biggest ever Summers in terms of tourism and has assured residents that the police are ready to manage this so that coronavirus does not get out of control.
"We have learned a lot from the last year and the one thing we will continue to do is to work in partnership with all the agencies in Cumbria: the health trusts, county council, Lake District National Park Authority, and the fire service to make sure that people are adhering to the guidance and so that people can come and enjoy the area safely," he said.
