As you Go into the mountains and look down over the rooftops, you can see those rising columns of smoke. The crowds have largely dispersed now but earlier today there were Tens Of Thousands of people who turned up on the streets of the capital to take part in the demonstration. You could see a sea of Palestinian Flags and people holding placards and banners saying things like, Ceasefire Now and hands off lebanon. As the march took place, people were holding these large megaphones chanting things like stop the bombing, stop it now. There were people from all sorts of backgrounds, people of different ages who took part in the march. We saw babies in prams, elderly people, people from different parts of the country coming to call for an immediate ceasefire in gaza. And an end to the Deepening Conflict in the Middle East. I spoke to one woman who said she had Family Members who had been killed in gaza. People felt helplessness at the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The march started two miles from here in Russell Square and it took about 40 minutes to get here at whitehall where there are a number of Government buildings. People gave speeches, including the former labour leaderjeremy corbyn, among other people who gave speeches. There were british palestinians and british lebanese voices who are giving speeches. There have been a large Police Presence throughout the day while the march is taking place, you could hear helicopters above and hundreds of officers were on the ground policing the march. Not everybody able to use that one and not everybody has the papers of these ares to get across but what we have seen here in the last two weeks or so, since the israeli Air Strike started and the Evacuation Orders began, a lot of syrian refugees who fled the Civil War in syria and came across into lebanon are now trying to Go back again to escape the escalating fighting. It speaks to the Scale And Size of the Displacement Crisis in lebanon at the moment and also says a lot about the fears and concerns of people here when you look at those syrians who left the Civil War in their own country and are now making that decision to Go back again, feeling they will be safer than they are staying here in lebanon at the moment. As we were saying through the day to day, through the afternoon, we have seen more israeli Air Strikes on different parts of the capital. It is darker now and when we get into the overnight and early hours into the morning, you get these new idf warnings buildings and areas in the southern suburbs and people who live here. I can speak to that as well. At the moment you see and hear overnight often very intense strikes right in the heart of the capital. What is everyDay Life like in lebanon . Sometimes we talk not about The Big Picture and the day to Day Life and how people are coping and how people are coping is every bit important. When it was really quiet was last weekend in the couple of days after the huge Air Strike that killed the leader of hezbollah, hassan nasrallah, and even in the busier part of the city it was very close to eight quiet, many businesses, shops, cafe is closed down. They were noticeably quieter. You see a lot of displaced people in the capital but things are slightly starting to reopen again.
