Detailed description is Брюссельская ратуша — ратуша, расположенная в историческом центре Брюсселя на площади Гран-Плас, построена в стиле.Наиболее старая, левая, часть ратуши начала строиться в 1402 году вместе с колокольней.
Строительство завершилось к 1420 году, и дальнейших пристроек к зданию не планировалось.
Однако усиление влияния гильдий ремесленников и их намерений в участии управления городскими делами привело к тому, что в 1444 году Карл Смелый заложил первый камень в правое крыло ратуши.
К 1450 году эта часть здания была достроена, но она короче старой и здание не симметрично башне.
К 1455 году на месте старой колокольни была воздвигнута башня высотой в 96 м, на вершине которой находится пятиметровая статуя повергающего дьявола архангела Михаила, покровителя Брюсселя.
Оригинальная статуя простояла наверху 541 год, в 1996 году она была заменена.13 августа 1695 года начался обстрел Брюсселя французской армией, продолжавшийся несколько дней.
В результате этого практически весь центр города был разрушен, но здание ратуши выстояло, а на Гран-Плас частично уцелел Хлебный дом (Дом короля).
Однако в результате пожара была уничтожена часть архивов и произведений искусства.
В 1706—1711 годах к зданию были пристроены два задних крыла в стиле классического барокко.
