TARİH.
Köyümüz, Ladik ilçesinin en eski köylerinden biri olup, ismini çevresinde bulunan şıhlardan aldığı (Zeyfe Dede, Gülaptal, Karaaptal) rivayet edilmektedir.
Yer ve konum itibariyle çevresindeki köylerin buluşma noktası ve merkezi bir durumdadır.
Cumhuriyetten önce çevresindeki Ermeni ve Rum köyleri (Cinkefler, Papazlar, Çolaksavarlar, Terzili, Ambar gerişi vb.) olduğu, bunların Topal Osman çetesi ile kaldırıldıkları tarihi kayıtlarda mevcuttur.
Bir zamanlar Aşağı ve Yukarı Şıhlı adıyla iki muhtarlık ve iki ayrı köy durumunda olduğu, Memişler, Balcılar, Karaağaç, Çerkezler mahalleleri daha sonra birleştirilerek tek muhtarlığa dönüştürülmüştür.
Merkezi Karaaptal da olan Nahiyelik 1957 yılında Şıhlı'ya taşınarak idari işlemler buradan yapılmıştır.
1970 yılında çıkartılan bir kanunla Bucak yönetimi kaldırıldığından Şıhlı da köy konumuna getirilmiştir...
