148,08 (14.800 hektar) kilometrekarelik alan üzerine kurulu olan Çekmeköy ilçesi, 2009'da 147.352 nüfusa, 2012 Yılında 183.013 nüfusa sahiptir.
İlçe'nin kuzeybatısında Beykoz, kuzeydoğusunda Şile, güneybatısında Ümraniye, güneydoğusunda ise Sancaktepe ilçeleri yer almaktadır..
