Detailed description is Advancing the Status of Women in Sri Lanka.
Our commitment to uplift the status of women has been diverse and in accordance with national priorities and needs of women and children.
The wide scope of our activities includes: .
• Microfinance projects that help women to become self sustaining.
• Health issues especially in early detection of cancer and in rehabilitating victims of chronic mental disease.
• Teaching life skills to destitute women.
• Legal advocacy in women’s rights especially in gender based violence.
• Empowering special groups of women – from prison to low socio-economic settings .
• Lastly, our longest project is in assisting in the education and upbringing of abandoned sick children in the Ragama Convalescent home over the past 40 years.

Zonta Women of Achievement, which is our club’s trademark, aims at recognizing women who have made a difference to society, and continues to be a high point of our club’s calendar for each biennium.
This project Commenced in 1988 and is brainchild of our Charter Secretary, Mrs.
Mano Muttukrishna Candappa, providing an opportunity for Sri Lanka to recognize and highlight her ‘Women of Excellence’ from many fields and professions who have rendered valuable service to society and country.

This event has proven to be a great fundraiser that sustains our service projects.
We sponsored the first ever Golden Z club in 2004 that has proven to be a wonderful success for our future leaders.
We proudly recall our nomination of deserving candidates for the ZI service awards from District 25 over the years.

The current Board made meticulous plans to formulate a brand new project, Building Bridges – Peace through Mothers (Saama Maatha) that promotes the process of peace, and reconciliation between the North and South of Sri Lanka through women affected by its 30-year civil war.
An extensive and ambitious project, our club seeks the support of Zonta International and sister clubs from around the world to make this novel project an outstanding achievement.
