Cluj-Napoca was the European Youth Capital in 2015.
The results of the first round were announced in a press release, on the 4th of July at noon – time of Bruxelles – by the European Youth Forum.
Cluj-Napoca is competing against Ivanovo (Russia), Varna (Bulgaria) and Vilnius (Lithuania).
Final results were published on the 24th of November in Maribor..

Our city entered the competition with the concept entitled Youth@Cluj-Napoca 2015 – Cluj-Napoca for European Youth Capital.
This presents the programmes, the message, the vision, the management and communication plans with which the city wishes to implement a youth programme that lives up to the title of the European Youth Capital.
The concept also presents the city’s experience along with those who teamed up to support the initiative: youth organizations, institutions and the private sector.

The Youth@Cluj-Napoca 2015 was initiated by the PONT Group, and was undertaken by the mayor’s office (the application was submitted by the city).
In the preparation phase 30 youth organizations and more than 40 local, national institutions and NGO’s supported the programme.

In the second round of the competition Cluj-Napoca received a detailed evaluation and a list of observations concerning the changes needed to be made in order to make the programme better.
The deadline for this is October 1.
2012, followed by a reconsideration phase.
As a result of this, at the end of November the winner of the title for the European Youth Capital 2015 will be announced in Maribor.

The 12 cities that competed for the title were: Badajoz (Spain), Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Ganja (Azerbaijan), Gothenburg (Sweden), Ivanovo (Russia), Katowice (Poland), La Laguna (Spain), Lecce (Italy), Perm (Russia), Tbilisi (Georgia), Varna (Bulgaria) and Vilnius (Lithuania).
